Would've been great if we could've gotten gearsets and macros as well, but I guess take what we get.
I've been waiting for this change for a while now, lol.
What exactly does this mean? We've had the ability to drag pet abilities to our hotbars for a while now. Is this just the ability to add it with a text command now? Convenient... =\
Basically. Few patches ago they gave us the ability to replace skills with the click of a macro by using /hotbar action "action name" (hotbar) (skillslot). So say you had "/hotbar action "Physick" 1 5" when executed it'll put physick in the 5th slot on hotbar #1. It didn't have much use before but now that you can use pet skills, items and whatnot you could make a Summon macro that replaces 4 slots with the appropriate fairy skills rather than needing 8 slot or separate bars. Unfortunately it doesn't work with macro's themselves, so if you use Whispering Dawn macros you're sorta outta luck but still useful.
couldnt you just use /pac macros to compensate for that?
Whats the difference in putting it in your hotbar or not? Eitherway it needs to be keybinded and yu can do that with pet hotbar anyway.
Forgive me if i am wrong or misunderstood your point
It's mostly a layout design choice some SCH/SUM's make to save room and make their screen look neat and tidy. Because of that choice, some players try to avoid the pet hotbar since not only is it unalterable half the skills aren't even needed so it takes up needless space on the screen. Instead we dragged the skills onto our hotbar, however this too creates a space problem considering the number of pet skills available. So what most did in this situation was take two unused hotbars and copy their primary hotbar that will have the fairy skills to them both. They would then make one bar have Eos's skills and the other have Selene's and then we would make a Summon macro that used "/hotbar copy" to paste the appropriate fairy bar to their primary one when they summoned a fairy. However with this new command you no longer need those two hotbars as you can simply add "/hotbar pet" commands to your summon macro to swap-in the appropriate fairy skills.
Thanks for the explanation! It does sound like a nice feature, but sadly I don't really bother with pet actions other than the ones I use, Eos and Garuda. Selene is fine doing her own thing usually, it's easier having her auto-buff and when you use Selene it's not usually during heavy healing periods where you need a lot of control. Titan Egi is pretty fine by himself too, although I don't play SMN much so I'm probably missing out on a lot of the finer points of that class.
To be honesty, while this is a nice change, there is a MUCH simpler answer. When we open up our Pet actions, there should just be placeholders. "Pet ability 1", "Pet ability 2", etc. And when you use them in a macro, it uses Pet Ability 2 of what ever pet is currently out, and same deal when you place it on your hotbar, so that it auto-changes based on your current pet out. But until that happens (if ever) this is a decent work around.
are you able to put macros on the hotbar with that command? I meant to check last night when I was in the game but didn't have time.
That would be a lovely feature and funny thing is you can technically do it now with a little macro trickery. Since the first, second and third summon abilities are tied together CD-wise you can actually make one "pet ability" macro like such:
/macroicon "Whispering Dawn" pet
/pac "Silent Dusk" <t>
/pac "Whispering Dawn" <me>
If you have Selene out and cast Silent Dusk the Whispering Dawn icon, while greyed out, will still show it going on CD for 40secs. It's a nifty trick to save hotbar space however I'm too neurotic when it comes to layout design and the greyed out boxes bugged me out for the short time I used'em with my Summoner lol.
Sadly no, would be beast if you could.
Even with the explanation it still sounds an overglorified waste of programming text
Still, to each on his own. some will have use for it, others will not
