2.28 PvP changes are here!

• All PvP actions are now available immediately to all players, instead of needing Action Points
• Action Points remain for the purpose of upgrading stats via Enhanced Stat effects, and for enhancing actions (now at the cost of 4 per upgrade instead of 3)
• You can immediately reset Action Point allocations with a single button (Fury's Anthem can no longer be bought; in 2.3 you can trade in any you may have sitting around for a refund)
• Character title display will be used to display the classes of your opponents during PvP
• Training Dummies are added to the Wolves Den Pier, and you can use PvP actions on the pier.

This is actually pretty huge interms of closing the gap between new entrants and those with a PvP rank advantage, as well as enabling people to play way more jobs in PvP instead of having to main one. It doesn't erase the advantage of experience, but it does level the playing field some. (Obviously less so in 50s because Morale is still a thing)

I'm unexpectedly hype about this.

no longer will i see fresh meat and heavily debate which class i want to specilize in for pvp (i have a full ilvl pvp set for drg, mnk and dps casters)

excellent change! although being a blm is going get alot harder to player with (fetter ward and purify fulled maxed out is gonna make life hell).well on the bright side, blm wont solely be a sleep bot anymore

Pvp for dummies : now you see classes name and line when covered, there is no place to skill in that pvp

That's a bit of an overstatement i think, as it was, playing against a group filled with lalafels(for example) was annoying as it was pretty hard to sometimes tell what class each is playing(if they were all wearing the same colors for example).
As for the cover lines i welcome it, as healers tend not to notice(90% of the time) when i cover them.

As a side note, if only they made it easier to gear up multiple classes..(besides wintrading ofc..).

Most if not all enhancements were 5 or 7 points, not 3.

I'm pretty stoked for these changes. I've been a huge PvPer in other MMOs, but have only dabbled in it in FFXIV. Time to head back to Wolves Den and get back into a PvP frame of mind before Frontlines.

So ya know, for you regular PvPers on North American Data Center 1, take that as either a threat to my enemies or an apology for my team mates...depending on how well I do.

I don't think so...
The equipment is still difficult to obtain (outrageous prices)
A pld or war have always to pay 10k GC coins to respec vita/force for switch pve/pvp (the same for scholar wishing to play Summoner)

I never had a problem determining which class was which since after a ton of games you can tell what's what by gear, weapon, casting animations etc, but this caused a huge problem with newer players since they would end up attacking the wrong target unless I marked so this is definitely a welcomed change.

I really like the changes to the skill system, allows more experimenting across classes.

So... Now that name displays class, can we have Glamours working in PvP? Maybe just the helms if for some reason that's a no? Can toggle helms off anyway, might as well let us Glamour them...

My favorite is the visible line for the cover. Somebody tried this on me earlier today, while I was kiting, and I immediately stopped running when I saw the cover line. This time, instead of healing myself, I started healing the PLD.

Now if only they would store your configuration in action points based on your class so that you don't have to constantly change every time you change class just like what happens with hotbars.

All great changes, including seeing each players class instead of Fresh Meat.

The Target Dummies are great but I don't feel as though that take into consideration the real amount of damage you'll be producing because of Morale.

I think you misunderstood me, i'm saying that it is indeed hard and not very viable to play more than 1 class in lvl 50 pvp.

Oh and as for the costs of stats resets, seems they are considering to make it easier to reset:

I'm sorry, this is putting "kill me first" on my head, I agree that FF players have a very very low level in pvp (compared to other MMO) but it's still the dumbest idea ever seen ! Put the name of the players directly, it would be more useful to a gameplay perspective...

You use that to your advantage and go for the ranged dps and profit.
easy since there is an influx of new players in pvp atm.
It's so much easier for newer players to be able to decide which target the group is talking about.

Only new or bad players chase healers for the whole/ half of the match. They obviously don't know how much a healer can kite, heal and run.

I did 7 matches today in the 50's que (queued 3 soloand 4 with a tank friend (duo). I am healer. I am modestly skilled and I won 6/7 rounds in pugs. One match lasted over 8 mins and ALL matches lasted longer than pre-patch. Even with the WHM sign above my head, it doesn't matter....they can't take me down easily ...nor are teams just outright zerging the other healer either. So it seems that while the patch is new, and only time will tell, simply having our jobs above our head does not = Kill me signs.

Considering how impossible it could be to tell who was who, especially in 30/40 cap where all the gear looks the same, I welcome the classes of players over their heads.

And yeah, the actual effect of this change is that people will focus down a ranged DPS instead of always zerging the healer. I've seen that quite a lot in matches today and it makes the fight more interesting then playing chase the healer around the arena until one or both team's healers are dead.

It's sorta to do with this thread, but I really like the try on feature...I never realized how beautiful some of the animal sets were (I overlooked the Monk chest for example...which is amazing)

The Warrior set is vile tho >.<

Next update, noobz will enjoy with Ilvl and HP showed with names of classes... They are no skills required anymore in that Pvp, hope SE never decide to make a leaderboard...

Please, dont blaspheme ever "Dark Age" compared to this pvp for dummies...

literally nothing has changed. people also target healer or range dps first pre 2.28

now, people target range dps and healers first post 2.28.

It's a "how to" this feature, just for dummies, why dont use real name of players ?
Now, go allow us to play with glamour, you'll see snowman team or valentine maid, dat pvp from SE, enjoy

It seems as though I struck a cord with you, so i shall say that, from my perspective I don't care if the other team knows its me or not. When you play over 4000 games you start to realize who players are and can call them out prior to the match starting. Once you see them one time, if they changed their color, you'll know who it is. Skill is above all, not color of their armor.

100% this. It's actually pretty funny, I remember calling out other side's names in one game. Called out who the healer goon etc etc was their classes and everything. There was a new player in our group and he thought I was "hacking" somehow, haha ( yes I know coolstorybro -_-')

Anyone from my data center will recall shouting out, "Oh @#%! it's the pink team from Behemoth!" whenever Strider Hardy and Dj Lovedrop showed up on the opposite end of the arena. Once we figured out it was them, we normally just went to mid and /sat.

There was a post from the community team a while ago that said something to the effect of "Sleep and other functionalities will be looked into and addressed for 2.3", I think.

find a low rank and start playing with them. pretty quick queues, this is especially true if they are a healer, OR if u are a high rank healer u can queue with a low rank anything and get some pretty sick queues. H (whm, no names dont wanna get banned derp) was queuing with a rank 7 yesterday and didnt even have time/a break in between queues.. altho that was prly just luck queueing up at the right time with the right person

One friend healer who has rank 5 join me and the queue was instant, but he had to go :(

I'm a rank 17ish healer and my queues for the most part are either instant....or if i wait, about 3 mins at most. So I don't know how even 'low rank' your healer needs to be as I'm pretty sure I'm behind the leveling curve. So you might even be okay with rank 20-25ish heals.

Dont compare Q time with NA serveur, actually EU server have 30 min waiting time when NA have less than 5 min

I was talking about "Prime Time PvP".
At 20:00 - 0:00 are bad hours to play because people is raiding.
At midnight, players come to pvp match and queue is more faster.
