Error 20524

I downloaded the patch, but when it tries to install the patch I just get this error and then it stops the install.

I have windows 7 64bit SP1.

Anyone else having this issue?

Wait 'til the over all patch is done. 1 more hour.

No, but seriously, this is possibly the same error I had back during beta. What caused it was that my antivirus was somehow blocking access to the patcher, not letting it modify the files or something. Go into your antivirus settings and add an exception for the patch file directory as well as the FINAL FANTASY XIV directory under Program Files.

I can't even download the patch. For the last hour, I've been getting "11023 Unable to access server for version check..." etc.

I already downloaded the entire patch, that is not the issue.

The issue is the patch will not install.

Run the updater by right clicking and "run as administrator"?

for some people they had to change the version (i've never had this problem, but it worked for some with the same error).

Mine is in

Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV > downloads > ffxiv > 48eca647 > patch

hi, you can try deleting the patch via your My Games folder which usually is in your My Documents.

the patch name for 1.18 is D2011.07.20.0000.patch.

If this also fails for your 2nd download, i suggest a reinstall the game as i too have once gotten this error before.

Thanks for all the replies... I figured out my problem.

I had forgotten I switched up the hairstyle graphics in my client.

I will need to re-install the game since I did not save the original files...

This seems to be caused by any change, even if you are only changing the date of a file. The installer is not suited to overwrite files if tthey are not as expected and therefor very bad programmed.
Let's say it is a security concern.

From what has been said this is from a chnge to the games files, probably to stop people using dat mods either save any backups of the games files to the right directory or reinstall the game to get rid of any erronous files
