[Suggestion] In combat voice

I think we should be able to hear it when creating a character. I created a character just to see how I'd look after the fantasia potion, and her voice was just fine with the emotes you can play while creating your character. I could've stopped there but I decided to really create it, and do the first quests. Soon enough I get to go outside the city and fight small creatures. I had taken the pugilist class. To my horror, her voice in combat was HORRIFYING. So I guess the only way I have to check that is make a new character with each voice...And with fantasias coming soon, it'd be nice to just be able to hear it while creating your character and not have bad surprises once you've changed.

I think I know exactly which voice you're talking about.They should just let us preview all the emotes and in combat voices before creating a character. The beginning cut scene just takes too long to go through and check for anything weird with the voice 20 times.

There's at least 10 variations for everyone. Only melee and bard hear anything in combat though, I think.

Which is extremely annoying whatever voice you chose, they keep yelling. Best thing to do is to remove that sound.

I used my Fantasia today! And got myself to how i wanted to look and then thought everything was perfect voice was cute and the looks were to my enjoyment

But then i lifted my lance and attacked a gigantoad and was mortified! I SOUND LIKE A BALLOON THAT'S HAVING THE AIR SUCKED OUT OF IT *Crys and flails her limbs about*

My character seems a costipated drag queen while shooting arrows D:
I hope they'll revise female voices in combat, because they are actually terrible at the moment.

I was being sarcastic. Yeah, there are some...noises (I wouldn't call it 'voice') that you can choose from when creating a character...and then in reality, it's basically never heard. Manual emotes can be done, some of which are 'noised', but that's basically it. Throughout the whole game, the player character really is a dumb mute who does nothing but nod sometimes - as, ironically, commented by apparently the devs themselves in (I think) one of the story quests... I'm not even sure why we have "voice" options to begin with, even if that does sadden me. :/

During beta before they changed the sounds you heard they did have combat sounds. Except we all complained cause for the females it sounded like they were having orgasms and was actually pretty embarrassing to choose one without headphones on.

Just turn off combat voices. Especially playing as a bard, hearing the same "HAAHHH!" every 2.5 seconds gets old pretty quick.

If you don't like the voices in combat you have an easy option to turn it off, no need to remove it from game for those of us that do enjoy it.

I don't want to turn them off. I like it on my male miqo'te. I'm sure I could find one I like for the female too, but the thing is you have to go through all the opening cutscenes and first quests before you can hear your voice in combat.

It's extremely hard to choose a voice based on the emotes given, I also would prefer if you could cycle through them all.

Wasn't aimed at you, I agree that we should have more voice samples at character creations. Was referring to a few people here that said they'd prefer to have voices in combat removed altogether.

Some of those voices... yeah. I remember a topic or two about them on the Beta forums, and I actually went through listening to all of the voice clips in character creation for both male and female of each race. Without a doubt, at least three of four of each female race sounded like an orgasm during their 'Joy' emote (or was it 'Angry'? Probably both...), while three of four of the male voices sounded like someone had been messing with a voice modulator and made 'em sound like Darth Vader.

My bard grunts. Every. Freaking. Time. It's become a standard practice to mute my screen whenever I go Bard for anything lol.

my char does this yell when she attacks( I mean actually attacks with a sword or axe or a bow+arrows) that its very cute and hard to take serious....it feels so different from her laugh, cheer and happy sounds

Huh. I guess I'm just not bothered by the sounds. But yeah, being able to hear them before going through the initial cutscene would be good.

In 1.0 spell casting had battle voices too (when you did the cast end wave hand motion thing) ( ' ^ '

Ugh, THAT was PGL combat in 1.0? Good lord, I am suddenly no longer saddened that i never got to play it. Some of the skills were cool, but for the most part .... bleh.
