Unable to download patch files. [30413] [20495]

I just came back to the game after about a 6 month long break, but I've been forced to play on my PS4 because my PC won't patch the game properly. I've tried the very few solutions I was able to find online for this, and nothing's worked. I've tried reinstalling multiple times to no effect, disabling both my firewall and antivirus, running in administrator, hard-wiring my pc to my modem, you name it.

I just can't understand why I was able to download 2.1 just fine when it released, and 2.2 perfectly well on my PS4, but my PC is just outright refusing to patch this time around.

Week late bump because I'm getting really tired of this.

Update: earlier when I was attempting to patch 2.28 on my PC, it was still giving me these two error codes, but it told me "one or more version update files are corrupted", and also gave a list of solutions (which, surprise surprise, none work). The solutions included deleting temporary internet files, disabling or changing my proxy (which is non applicable), updating my network adapter drivers, or updating my modem / router's firmware (all of which are up to date).

I've tried completely uninstalling / deleting all patch files and reinstalling yet again to no avail. But it did bring me a new problem! Yaaay!

When I try to patch now, nearly every other attempt will result in this:

My download speed for the patcher will start out at around the normal 3mb/s, and steadily drop .10mb/s every second until the server becomes "unresponsive". For anyone curious about my connection:

Not the greatest, but I shouldn't be having that sort of problem with the patcher.

I'm really close to just un-subscribing from the game again.

Im have the exact same problem man, ive been bouncing around my ISP and SE "support" center all morning its so frustrating!

Same issue, this is really bad. I called my ISP and they made me run a speed test with them, which says my connection speed is at its maximum. Yet my download on the client will not go above the 0.4mb/s, and even there it easily drops to 0.0 until the client crashes. I don't know what to do anymore.

I also have this issue. I'm beginning to wonder if Square-Enix actually knows what the problems is - as after looking up the respective error codes last night and this morning - I haven't found a single thread where a conclusive resolution has been given; only closed threads that haven't resolved and people leaving the game because they literally cannot play it.

Of the few people I have read that have fixed it - the solutions are too sporadic to be helpful to anybody. They range from DNS changing, changing files out of read-only mode, reinstalling the game and even checking to see if they're subscribed to the game.

Exact same problem here. SE 'support' is completely unhelpful. Have tried everything mentioned by them and various online sources.
Their client obviously has issues maintaining a connection.

Have now been unable to play for 2 weeks. Won't be renewing my subscription. Too bad, I was actually enjoying this game.

SE - you need to fix this.

In the same boat - also thinking of just giving up at this point. Nobody seems to be able to give a direct answer.

I have done the following:

- restarted my pc
- restarted my router
- waited until offpeak hours
- flushed my DNS
- changed my DNS to the public google ones
- deleted the partially downloaded file and started again
- reset Internet Explorer and wiped the cache
- opened ALL of the ports for FFXIV

I have spoken to support 3 times: I was told to do all of these things, but none of them have worked. They also won't give me a refund on the 1 month game time I bought yesterday. They finished by saying that it is Virgin Media's fault and I should contact them.

Awful customer servier, no resolution, no explanation. I guess I won't be coming back to this game then.

Have you lowered the security settings in Internet Explorer?

Security and go low as possible, see if that does the trick?

I have just tried:

-totally disabling Windows Firewall
-lowering IE security settings to as low as possible (only have the option of High, Medium-High, or Medium)

I was still getting the error :(

SO!!!! I went in and custom lowered security settings in IE even further. My PC is basically a nude woman spreadeagled on top of a bus travelling along a windy motorway at 200 mph trying to catch flies.

But it worked! Instead of 10MB at a time i'm so far up to 300MB in one try. Touch wood.

The error came back: but at least im pulling 100's of MB at a time... so it'll only take about 30 attempts to download the whole thing!

EDIT: 3rd try and I'm up to 1500 MB. My PC is going to need some serious cleaning and scanning after this.

I don't think anything I did actually had any effect... it's back to 10 MB at a time, and having to restart constantly... there was a random run for 20 minutes in which it was fine...

Why are you cancelling your account because your computer is having issues?

Can you try running something like network monitoring (Netmon) and watching for what is causing the error (or what is happening around the time of the error)?

Can you pull other large files? What is your virus scan turning up? Have you tried downloading the file to a second computer and then just transferring the files over? Unless everyone in this thread is able to pull together their information to find some commonalities, it sounds like it is not SE fault (as it would affect a large number of people) and more like the user computers' fault.

I canceled my account because it is a lost cause, I have followed all the steps provided by SE to fix the problem, and nothing has worked. I have installed and updated several other games onto my computer and they all operate normal.

1)Restart communication equipment
Turn off the power of your communication equipment for 30 minutes to an hour.
Unnecessary data accumulated on the equipment will be initialized, possibly allowing for smoother transmission.

2)Update firmware of communication equipment
Update your "firmware," the program running your communication equipment.
If firmware is outdated, your communication equipment may not function properly, so please update your firmware before trying the version update again.
*Consult with the help manual when updating firmware. Also, even if your firmware is up to date, rewriting it may improve the situation.

3)Check settings for security programs and firewalls
There is a possibility that security programs and firewalls are interfering with files related to the game. Please remove these functions for files related to "FFXIV: ARR"

4)Check security services of your internet provider
Depending on your internet provider or service plan, there may be security services included.
Please confirm that these security services permit online gaming.

5)Because other applications may interfere with your installation, close any running apps
?The following steps can be followed in msconfig to stop all apps

1. If using Windows7, enter this character string in the search field near the bottom of the start menu

2. "System Configuration" will be activated.

And for the record I have successfully downloaded the free world of warcraft game client and updated the patch with no problems at all. (i found a spare world of warcraft guest pass with diablo 3) I am currently running around playing world of warcraft. Easy to operate easy to download easy to install, no problems at all… Actually am Quite surprised by the functionality of the battle net client.

PROOF. Here is a picture of WoW game client working just fine, and I am able to play. Why can one game work fine, and another not work at all...

I'm having the exact same issue. And I know that it is not my internet connection. I have restarted my computer, restarted my modem, done everything that was suggested in the link from support and it still keeps happening. For all intents and purposes, this is an issue on the SE side of things as it took me a couple of times to re-download the installer program after uninstalling the game. I can stream video, play other internet connected games, etc. Yet, for some reason, updating Final Fantasy 14 is 'an issue with my connection'? Hardly. This has been going on since 6/14/14 for me and needs to be resolved.

Something is likely interfering with your connection to either the JP server managing the version check (124.150.157.126) and linking you to the hosting service (in my case, Akamai) where you are trying to download the files from. The IP you ultimately download from can change, as they have multiple IP's that it is mirrored on. Last few times time I checked, I noted these IP's were in use, each time they were pointing at Akamai servers:

23.54.187.27
23.0.160.75
24.143.200.234
24.143.200.227

Didn't note the actual IP I used last night when I updated my laptop (2.6GB download, took about 30 minutes), but resmon was resolving it to a server at Akamai again.

Running resmon or netstat in a command prompt while trying to download the patch will show you where you are trying to connect to, then you can troubleshoot the specific connections you are trying to use (tracert, ping plotter, etc.). You may find routing issues at play, or security software may be interfering. The trick is in finding out just where you are connecting to (or at least trying to connect)--once you know the IP's involved, you can check your security logs and such to see if that IP is getting blocked or the connection is indeed timing out because of problems en-route.

Apologies for the late response, I'd stopped checking this thread for a few days because it seemed like there was nothing new, but it seems that the last maintenance broke everyone's game. What a shocker.

I've completely uninstalled and deleted every single thing pertaining to ARR on my pc at least a dozen times now. I've even gone so far as to backup my backup character config, screenshots, etc. on my external to remove any trace of the game from my desktop. Still being told that the patch files are "corrupt".

I've downloaded the most recent patches on my PS4, so I'm still 100% certain it's not my ISP.

sounds like something may be happening during the download that is knackering up the data. It happens... could be server side, client side, or something in between. It's pretty common with the PSx consoles because of how flakey PSN has been lately. Interesting that you got a clean pull for the PS4. That doesn't automatically mean your internet is reliable though--it just means your connection to PSN and the PS4 patch's mirror server was reliable when you updated your PS4. You're dealing with a different animal for the PC patch.

See security get in the way a lot for these kinds of things... either they're too aggressive and clamping down on access, or bogging down scanning the compressed files and it trips errors because they are locked when the updater is trying to read/write data. Ideally, you want to whitelist the folders, processes, and connections if you can... hate to tell someone to disable all security, but sometimes that is the only way to get around it. Some programs still get in the way even when disabled and the only way to get around it is to actually uninstall temporarily--some big names have run into this in the past, including but not limited to ZA, AVG, Avast, Webroot, McAffee, and even Norton/Symantec.
