It is our FATE to endure the Atma quest - Patch 2.28

With the live letter posted, it appears that there will be no changes to the Atma grind but some relieve on the Animus grind. Increased myth drop options will help on getting the books but it appears that we need to continue grinding our Atmas and camping our special FATES for the foreseeable future.

Hoo-ah, best news I have heard in quite awhile.

They nerfed what didn't need nerfing and left their garbage lottery qualifier. I dumped the 5 atmas i've acquired on the floor like some bat fangs.

Probably just more low scoring myth tomes like the ones from beast tribes

Aww man, the books are the lesser of two evils and I'm not even motivated to do that. . . I don't feel like doing that atma grind all over again for other classes. :/

yeah this is retarded. they need to adjust the drop rate on these items or something. i am so pissed off at this. i've played FATE's almost every day since Zodiac weapons came out. i've grind them for an hour straight each day. and sometimes 2 or 3 hours. for at least 5 days out of each week. i've only gotten a single Atma piece. the Atma of the Maiden. it was only last week i decided to give up on this worthless retarded quest. though, maybe i am the one that is retarded for even trying. pft. FTW >_>

2 Atma away from starting my 2nd Atma weapon. Glad I didn't bother to wait. If you do 30-60 minutes every once and awhile and don't burn out on it, it is less daunting. People asked for this!!!!!

What people asked for the jank atma rng qualifier I'd really like to know?

I also like to know who wanted to have relic weapons only be obtainable through RNG

I only ever really do fates when I need more seals to buy more ventures... So far gotten 3 in april, 3 start of may and lucky for me 2 more mid may. So 4 more to go... Of course running some of those fate areas for seals is a drag because they drop almost no seals. I'm rather training on garuda ex or t5 or anything else really than do fate grinding though.

Same here, and still on 5/12. So awful.

I'm actually facin SCoB T7, so apart of this, atma is the only content of 2.2 I've not cleared... It's so annoing...

SE, I say NO.

I've gotten 1 Atma weapon, and that was enough for me. The books, if nothing else, give me something to do when I don't feel like/am able to do anything else. And even then, I'm STILL not getting the tomes I need to get my next book. . . And I have to do that 8 times? No.

Novus? I've lost interest, thanks to the heavy gating just to get to another grind. So No.

I'm not up to SCOB just yet, but I would much rather do that and get one of those weapons than continue to be forced to play content I was never fully interested in for the sake of content I'm losing/have lost interest in. . . for the sake of MORE content that holds no interest for me, again due to reasons previously stated. So, respectfully, No.

Japan. Everything that has major changes to/updates, it's all based off of the mainland's preferences/wants. Don't believe me? Just look at SEGA and Phantasy Star Online 2. Sure, they COULD have made a U.S. port version of the game, but because the company wants profits and Japz usually don't want to play with "gaijinz," they never made a stateside release. Oh well, since the won't change the objectives to get an Animus weapon, I will surely not make a second one. Seeing what they nerfed and seeing that they leave the RNG elements and the rare FATES for the ATMA books how they are, makes me just shake my head.

In my almost one Year lasting time with FF14, the RNG factor for getting the ATMAS and the waiting time for the rare FATES were the most boring and depressing elements in this Game. I see a gazillion of threads here and in other forums from complaining players but SE does not see a problem. LOL. But bees on Demon Wall had to go. Yeah, right. THAT was needed.

I feel like there has to be some kind of crazy trick. I feel like the Japan time Theory was only partially correct. I got 6 Water Bearer Atma in 2 days following the Japan Time Theory.

It seems sortof hit or miss, but when i was getting a flood of atma by following the Theory, i felt like there is more to it than just RNG.

It's not just SE that does this. Team Ninja with Dead or Alive 5 is notorious for ignoring US players and even the lead developer of the game admitted to it, which is sad because the first version of the game he listened to the top US players a lot, but as the game got patched and further with the release of the "ultimate" edition the game got less consistent and more random elements returned from DoA4 all because of the Japanese community. The game got worse because for some reason Japan loves things being completely random.

The theory is a placebo effect. RNG is RNG.

As much as i want to believe that, There is a surprising amount of consistency in my atma gain.
I got 3 of my Water Bearer atma, nearly back to back in a span of 30-45 minutes. (soloing fate bosses)
and then i got 2 more (Water Bearer) at the same time the next day.

I think the theory is incomplete.
First I'd want the developers to say specifically that there isn't a trick.
I'm sifting through the live letters to see if there was ever a claim but I've only seen comments on 'no planed adjustments'
And how about that color troll patch? We apparently had issues 'Seeing Atma' so they changed the color?

Rng is the flavour of this patch's content.
Hopefully next patch's will be a real non rng grind.

I did the Japan time theory for a bit and I got Atmas at totally different times outside of the ones in the theory and others I got from just doing fates randomly. RNG.

I finally finished my grind with an average of 5 hours per atma.

wow wont you share some of youre luck with me ? i only need the shroud ones, the rest it got but the shroud ones simply wont drop xD i even managed to spend like 14 hours in east shroud past saturday in the hope to get some atma but no luck ;p

You seem to really not understand the theory. It doesn't say you cant get atma outside of the time, it says that during the time there is a higher drop rate.

Spent another good 8 hours last night using the jpn time method, porting every hour on the hour.

It wasn't until hour 9 that I gave up empty-handed, went to an unrelated zone, and got 2 atma of the fish from the same fate within 20 minutes.

RNG is RNG.

People are seeing patterns when all there is in reality is a placebo.

Well there is a possibility that there is a skew to the hour, like your Guardian.

Also i'd think SE would make a statement on why they haven't changed the rate and instead kind of danced around the issue almost to the point of taunting players.

You are giving the devs way to much credit. The Atma farming portion of this quest had negligible effort on the devs part. That's why it is the way it is at all. The lowest time in on their part for the longest time in on our part. It is a blatant smokescreen to keep people busy for as long as possible why the design the next step.

That's also why it's not changing right now. The team in charge was too busy making the steps for novus.

The only way we probably will actually see a change is if people stop trying to defend this garbage and recognize that SE took a really shitty shortcut.

it kept me busy for a week for my first atma weapon.
i'm only grinding out again for theif.
but the majority of the atmas i got were withing an hour of eachother when roughly following the theory. Unless they make a direct statement i cant really lean either way. I want to believe there is a trick because there are just long strings of atma gain that i've had, but at the same time i do hit dry spots.

If this silly theory were true, then everyone would have Animus by now and everyone would stop complaining. Since that hasn't happened....

So now does it mean everyone should farm ATMA on day1?
Regardless it was not the best weapon and there were other better weapons available ..etc ^^;

It still kind of dances around the question. How exactly would changing the mechanics destroy the hard work people put into the quests? People cried bloody murder that all the effort they put into clearing raids and the coil got nerfed with the Echo buff, yet nothing about them in general really changed.

• Everyone has more HP, can be hit by avoidable mechanics more often without it resulting in death/wipe.
• Tank's damage potency allows better hate control at a lower ratio of MP/TP costs to attain said enmity.
• Healer's potency allows better heals at lower MP costs.
• DPS potency allows adds to die faster and phases to become shorter, resulting in even less reliance on Healer MP or pure support buffs (ex: can requiem more, ballad less)

The only stuff echo doesn't help is party not killing adds before phase changes, and mechanics which eject the player from the arena.

The former is not a common issue. The latter can be largely avoided by properly "baiting" landslides.
