No static, No gear

I hate how all of the 'challenging' content is only meant for those in a group, with vent channels and what not. Quite obviously, you can't do a lot of these things as a PuG because of how unorganized it is.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not asking for solo content or gear handouts or anything like that, I just wish that the game was a bit more inviting to lone players.

You see, the problem is that the hardest group content gives the best gear. If you do not have any of the said gear, you are less desirable to join a static, and vise versa. You end up in this hamster wheel of always being late to get the gear you want.

The only static I have been in was in early 2.2, and ever since then people have been out-gearing me, leaving me to be at the bottom of the competition for static opportunities.

I seen an i100+ BLM in Ifrit HM today. I'm still i90. Nothing I can do about that.

Actually...

You kinda can do something about that last bit. Atma weapons and all soldiery gear are all ilvl100. Get to farming tomes.

Otherwise, I don't know what to tell ya. This is an MMO focused on community interaction. Coil is by far the hardest content in game thus far, and it makes sense that group coordination is incredibly important, some people need Vent to do that, some people don't. If you're having trouble finding a group, then I really don't know what else you can do, sorry.

That's the problem with players and arbitrary numbers that rate your gear really. Not really the game itself.

People want an easy run.

People don't want to wipe if they can help it.

People don't want to take the time to figure out if a player is capable through trial and error.

Gearscore, ilvl averages, specific drops etc saves lazy group makers time and effort in establishing if someone is capable.

The guy in question has a weapon from this fight? Auto invite because there's visual evidence he's done it before. Little do they know, he probably was incapacitated in fire, or never played his current job/role in this fight.

Had this been years ago, the old me 'wouldav'e said people wanna be carried'. That's only partially true. Mostly people want to be able to judge your worth at a glance.

They don't care to see how fast you learn, and develop your role in an encounter.

They don't care for someone who met DF's ilvl minimums, and then some.

They prioritize the people who already been geared from that very fight because they can trust them to do it again.

Well wait a bit , Yoshi said that they do something for low man or maybe even more solo content , give it a time . I bit dissapointed by game it is atm , in FFXI even in solo/duo scenario was totally possible to obtain about best gears , even more pissibilities opened after 75 cap raise . Also in XI theres no content locks (allmost no) , here we locked by unable to get statics and other locks. I just hope atm in furute game get's bit more open for all kind of players (not only for hardcore/no lifers) , i feel game going in that direction.

I never did understand the term 'hardcore', and the term 'no-lifer' is used too loosely.

Just because someone has progressed through most of current content doesn't mean they spend most of their waking hours on the game. It means;

they effectively used their time in game
they're competent
they're playing with other competent players

This game isn't hard, nor is it that grindy unless you want to bring up the optional atma weapons. In a month of average playtime, a person can go from fresh character to ilvl90ed main job with all usable cross class abilities, zenith weapon, and be ready for the 2nd coil. You don't need to be a NEET. Just because someone progressed farther than you doesn't mean they have nothing else to do with themselves in life.

It's true, but it is how it shoud be.

And I'm without a static right now as some of the guys I played with have left, and as a non english speaker (Yep, I can manage in writting, but TS woud be other thing :D) , with very few chances of getting another, so I'm not just saying "Fuck you" cause all it's perfect to me :p

The thing is that if you coud achieve the same without a proper group, people with a proper group woudn't have anything to do. And an MMO shoud be done thinking about those groups, I think. Cause without them it won't last at all.

Anyway if you are ilvl 90 you're not even picking tomes... You coud be ilvl 95 or 96 right now without Coil, I think. Between Levi weapon & soldiery+moogle jewel...

Yah you can correct the last bit easily. If you've been capping soldiery and have either done Atma quest or managed a Levi EX drop then you should be well over i90. Moggle EX drops i100 neck accessories as well. I'm not sure of the PF scene on Brunhyldr but I know on Midgard there's Turn 6s up on a regular basis listed as practice parties and normally they aren't asking for people over i90. Voice chat maybe. I don't understand how you're being left behind by a static. You're i90 so no one could be better geared than you before 2.2 unless you hadn't reached i90 yet and if you weren't getting luck with drops in Coil 2 there's soldiery gear so that you keep up with ilevel. Are you sitting on all your soldiery hoping for T6+ drops? I could see a static kicking someone who isn't actively pursuing better gear outside Coil. 6 weeks out from 2.2 I would expect my static members to progress especially if we are failing a turn for reasons other than mechanics.

Adoulin was the first expansion with NO real locks short of farming entry items and Meebles, Legion, Assaults are STILL limited to this day. Things like Dynamis, Limbus etc. for a long time not only cost gil to enter but were only doable every 72 hours so twice a week basically. i have this year of playing this game. if direction will continue on making "single content must be done with group to progress in game"
i would just be so disappointed for not having anything outside of group/static things .. i avoid groups for drama they cos a lot of drama that turn my interest to play this game off.

Solidery gets you to i90? That means you have slots with less than i90 gear in them. That's an easy fix. Myth accessories, EX Primals, Coil 1. Other than Titan EX and Turn 5, everything else is easily DFable and Coil farms are all over PF many with under i90 requirements.

Read my whole post. When that gear was still the best you could NOT solo it and it was locked out. Even Abyssea had lockouts since stones were limited and with the limited abyssites and only one atma until the second installment, NOTHING in Abyssea was easily lowmanned short of the base level NMs. Even now in FFXI the best gear requires at least a party and there's no real exception there unless you have the gil for upgrading your AF/Relic. There's just no actual lockouts on endgame now short of entry items.

I can see where the OP is coming from. Once you're behind the curve, no one wants to pick you up over someone who already has experience and likely the gear to show for it. I've been in the same situation since 2.0 and I've personally resigned myself to never getting better gear until it's pushed out by newer content - I'll just sport my Weathered soldiery gear until 2.4.

But at the same time, I can't agree with making top tier gear obtainable through solo content. Coordinating multiple players will always be more difficult since a mistake from any player can potentially wipe the entire raid. It's not fair to give raid gear for doing something simpler.

But basically you are asking for solo ilvl upgrades which already is in the game: animus, soldiery.

Granted a static would get there faster..

Please keep in mind that forming and leading a static is an MMO skill too (or playing in one).

So, you have some items of gear that are less than ilvl90. Since when did you need a static to run a few 4 peep dungeons and farm myth? Couple or more days (depending on gear) to farm enough myth to get all gear under ilvl90 to ilvl90. Plus the soldiery gear you have, that will take you over 90.

So whats the problem exactly?

Make your own group. You can decide your own rules if you are the leader.

In JP server,

as long as you know what to do and willingly to use google translate for communicating, you will still get good PUG group. I went T6-T8 first win all the way with JP PUG PT when most of my static members gathering & went holiday for weeks. But for T9 might be a bit hard, i have to rely back to my static :eek:

I'm kind of annoyed by this as well.
I simply can't find a static in my server unless i change FC (cause apparently, people think statics have to be a part of a FC). I tried finding statics in linkshells, without success.
I haven't tried t6+ yet simply cause i can't find a party for it. Pugs are an option, but then again, imagine pugging t6-8 every week.
Sand + oils will always be a 1/8 chance to get every single week, simply cause you got no static. Coil basically screws over anyone without a static.

I don't really care about getting the best gear, I'm just trying to make everything as fun as possible. However I wouldnt say no if someone wanted to invite me to a group to do those things. And I'm surethere are others who thinks the same way I do.

To want to solo all the content in the game without getting involved in a community. Is the exact opposite of an MMO, seriously go play dark souls 2 or something.

Can only imagine how you would react to a sandbox old style mmo like Ultima Online.

This is largely a cultural thing.

Japanese players would mostly be embarrassed by being the one to bring a group of random people down, and so they practice in groups of people they know and then take what they've learned to the Duty Finder and "pickup" groups. English speaking players, on the other hand, tend to believe you should play more seriously with people you know, and that the only way to really get things done is in statics, Free Company groups, etc. Both methods work fine, but when there is a heavy bias toward one way it sort of forces it to be the only way to go (i.e. a large number of people believe only statics can clear things, so all the best people join statics, thus making it so only statics can clear things).

This was also true in FFXI. NA players firmly believed endgame content like Dynamis and Salvage was designed for tight-knit groups to work on, but if you looked at shouting and search comments during JP prime times they were doing those all in pickup parties.

Game should stop focusing on statics entirely in my opinion. Do not think they should have much focus on solo player either at endgame, but right now SE is making it extremely hard to run a guild in XIV due to the forced lowman/lockout content.

Guilds in XIV are not guilds... they are 2-6 static groups who share a chat channel and maby a house.

Game needs something besides lowman content atm... not the opposite.

Simple solution to the OP...quit the game for 6 months and come back. You joined this game to early. If you were to start playing this game next January you will have a more enjoyable time until you catch up with cutting edge content.

I have the same problem, I can forecast when i get in a fail group, my problem is I get in groups were I am still learn and those who get a few alt pieces think I can carry them because they're tire of playing the same static role. what i want to do is build my own static group, but part of my FC is holding out until new jobs come, which i feel like it holding me back. am I post to wait until the new classes (ninja) are release, they reach level 50 and build up gear. SMH. I get it, you can try and shout for a static group.

I see plenty of T6 and T7 learning parties in PF all the time on my server. You can do Coil without a static.

I agree that there needs to be less focus on statics. But there is no way for SE to change this. It is a community matter, not a gameplay matter. Sure, they could take away the weekly lookout. I think more decent players would be willing to pug then. As it stands now though with weekly lookouts peopl prefer taking that weekly shot with players they know.

This doesn't even make sense. There is literally one piece of content in this game that is heavily tailored to static groups... Coil. Casual players who cannot or do not wish to form statics have *plenty* to do, such as 4-man dungeons and roulettes, Crystal Tower (the next floor of which is coming in 2.3), dailies, Relic upgrade quests, extreme mode primals, levequests, crafting, gathering, gardening, housing and more. All of these are either solo endeavors or are tailored towards pick-up groups.

So unless you want them to make Coil so easy that any random PUG can do it, which would leave basically no serious/challenging for static groups to work on, I don't know what else you're expecting them to do.

I've never been fond of joining statics but in other MMO's I've played there's been content for smaller groups that's difficult and offers alternative gear options and gameplay to the hardest content. Soldiery tomes are cool but they're acquired through fairly simple means and IMO the rewards aren't that spectacular (Just a few points of main stat / vitality).

Well 8 isn't exactly a large group/party. There's many MMOs where normal party size is 5-6. So 2 more does not a large party make XD

There's only one large party content, Labyrynth of the Ancients, 2nd with 2.3 and Crystal Tower in fact.

SE tried putting in 4 peep content that was a bit more difficult than the rest of the Dungeons. Pharos Sirius. Look how that turned out XD

like many things in life the solution is to get out there and meet people. While I do have a static my static hasn't actually downed turn 6, and I have two kills on it. where do you think the kills came from?

Most ppl will refuse to run 2nd coil with others as they have a static already and are cautious about locking them selves out of that turn if something happens etc lol.
Technically it's like
End game Progression = 7 other ppl you know.
I miss when ppl were so open about coil back in 2.1 :(
Lots and lots of PF groups for t1-5
Was very convenient! But now i barely see any 2nd coil pf groups past t6, which tells me no progression will happen much till 2.3 XD

What you're saying here is your problem is other people and their requirements. In fact, your problem is you. Why not make your own team? A team that won't require vent/mumble/teamspeak. A team that you can organise. Set your requirements in terms of class, skill, and ilvl.

I'm assuming you haven't tried that at all, otherwise you wouldn't be blaming others for it. It's an MMO, these are designed for playing with others.

The idea that a static group of the same 8 people is needed to progress is how the community views it, when in truth it boils down to a lack of trust in anyone else. I stand by my statement that this is an MMO. There's just people who make the choice of picking the same 7 other people (vast majority of the player base). Square isn't outright telling you that is how the game should be played, or how the social features of an MMO should be used. I'm not saying the method of picking the same 7 other people is wrong either, or people should do it another way, but if anyone here wants to say it's a design fault with the MMO, it isn't; it's how our community is.
