Master Summoner please help me.

I just got my summoner to Lv. 50 not so long ago with iLv. 53 by my venture stuff and a bit help from my FC. Days ago I got myself into a dungeon and the tank said "You should do better DPS" I don't know it's a bully or not.

Here is my question.
My skill rotation now if there more than 1 foe on the tank is
Bio2 > Miasma >Bio >run in to the mob and cast Miasma2 > Contagion> Bane > Shadow flare> Enkindle ruin/ruin 2 > repeate the DoTs> bane if more than 1 foe left

for a single foe I would use Fester instated and for the bosses I would raging strike before DoTs and Spur>Rouse after contagion

Am I doing it right? how should I improve? or the problem just iLv. that will take times to improved?

You're pretty spot on with what you're doing, and yes I'm sure it is mostly an ilvl issue but you're going to see that a lot as SMN because some people still don't understand how SMN damage works.

Looks great. Just get swift cast for Shadow Flare and Blizzard II for AOE. The rest is iLvl

I not do Miasma 2 if there only single target

Miasma 2 is lower DPS per GCD than Ruin 2, I will just put up Raging Strike first and then 3 DOTs + Contagion then wait a sec for Bio and then Fester then Swiftcast + Shadows Flare and then spam Ruin 2 or Ruin 1 depends on MP

Miasma 2 is best use when you see target more than 2, otherwise, just skip it

Miasma 2 is not baned, so it's best to just contagion and bane the original 3 dots ASAP. Miasma 2 in an aoe situation doesn't need contagion. You'd need to contagion it if using it on a boss to make it worth more than a ruin but it'd a good habit to get into. I still hardly use it single target myself.

As for your damage you can be doing an ok bit, but not a whole lot given your ilvl. It'll go up as you get gear, you've already got a solid foundation though. Get into using shadow flare, rouse and spur and figure out when's best for an enkindle and you're good to go.

Most players forget that SMNs are Damage Over Time with Fester as our Boom and Ruin and Ruin 2 as our Pew Pew's.
Just make sure you incorporate Raging Strikes to up the damage and make sure you keep your DOTs up and running all the time.

Even though we might not be the most loved class in dungeons, when the shit hits the fan, they bow down before us.
Bio, Miasma 2 and Ruin 2 is instantly cast and on the run. Our Mobility exceeds that of BLM.
Aside from that, we are the only other class that can Swiftcast and Raise.

We are the Swiss Army Knife in the Party, ready for everything at any time.

Do you party as SMN or ACN? just a general question. I see some people who like to run as ACN for a few more spells and skills over SMN. I also see those who pick ACN to party getting crap for not being able to use Fester.

Even on pulls larger than 4 mobs I find Summoner AOE is pretty good. Starting with Shadow Flare and Miasma II while the Tank is grouping up the Mobs.
When the mobs are grouped you can DoT up an outside one and Bane. Then DoT up another that is centered between Mobs that Bane missed to further spread Bane. (up to 8 mobs)
Only about 6 GCD before you have your full arsenal out and can start BlizzII spam or keep Miasma II up.

If there's only 7 mobs you can usually Contagion your DoTs and then Bane. Then Blizz spam until Bane is up again and Bane off the mob closest to the ones without DoTs. They'll almost always take priority to get hit.

No class is balanced around pulling half a dungeon at a stretch. BLM will be preferred for this because of their big burst aoe potential with unlimited targets.

SMN still beats all other dps for trash aoe clears, though. Maybe not to an extreme degree, but at least they don't have to hold off to conserve resources.

learn how to maximize the 3 aether you potentially get each minute.

fester is where u get ur biggest damage from, make sure u getting 3 festers off a minute. while maintaining your dots. doing this greatly improved my dps. i was wasting aether, u must maximize it. it's ok and even necessary to use aether to get some mp in some cases or in bane also. but try to use your aether for festers. regardless of how you choose to use your aether, make sure u use it 3 times a minute. this is pro style.

keep your pet buffed, spur and rouse should be always on cooldown. unless u saving them for your enkindle. on this note, make sure your enkindle is done with both rouse and spur.

basic attack is pretty nice.

shadow flare is important damage.

With 7-8+ mobs, I typically will B2MB+bane one mob on say the right edge of the group, then find another mob on the left edge of the group to B2MB+Bane. This gives maximum uptime on mobs, instead of giving remaining mobs half spent DoTs.

I've pulled hate with AoE as a SMN because tanks underestimate our potential and don't properly hold hate on the entire mob. It's certainly nothing to sneeze at, especially since if you Bane properly the total DPS is ridiculous + popping a shadowflare over everything. Wuuuuuuut.

This was all I could see to add.. Rouse is a good CD, only 60 sec so you should use it frequently. If you are going to use Enkindle, be sure to use it with both Rouse + Spur up.

The rest of your rotation seems about right. Use Fester right after Bio2/Miasma/Bio if single target (this allows you to squeeze in 2 Festers, sometimes 3, while Raging Strikes is up), use Contagion right after Bio2/Miasma/Bio, swiftcast Shadow Flare, then Bane, then Miasma 2 on multi-target (this offers most uptime while waiting for GCD)

Yeah, you have to do that for 8 mobs. But for 6-7 as long as I don't have to save Contagion for something coming up I'll just BlizzII spam till Bane comes back up and spread the extended DoTs to more mobs.

It might only be a small boost but since I have to wait on Bane I may as well be AOEing since the extended DoTs will get an extra tick.

If you are waiting 10 seconds for another Bane, why not just use that time to B2MB a mob on the other side then Bane? It really doesn't make the most of Bane to spread half-duration dots, with exception to 15% chance dot duration resets.. Then you can blizz2 spam while melting all their faces :D

EDIT: at 6 or less mobs I tend to just Bane once, then manually B2MB the remaining, since you can't really control which mobs get Bane'd.

Because I'd be spreading the Contagion'd DoTs again, which will have an extra 5 seconds compared to normal DoTs once Bane comes back up.

Ahh, I see what you're saying now. Do you ever notice it spreading dots to a mob that already has dots ticking? This is more of a general concern I have (not directed at your strategy specifically) whether there is any sort of detection when using Bane, like does it know not to re-apply dots to mobs that already have the dots ticking?

It seems to prioritize mobs that don't already have the DoTs. Even on stuff such as Bloflox HM where the goblins are packed tight during a SR you can see the others without DoTs get hit.

Other question comes by
Should I use Ifrit to clear the way in dungeon? or strict to Garuda? Ifrit cause a good malee damage of 120 and can easily put on sic and he would do the job. Garuda, on the other hand deal range damage of 100 but has Contagion, so micro-management of her skill is a must. Garuda is the best for boss as always, but why not we use Ifrit on the mob. Or may be he is useless in higher dungeon where foe tend to have so much HP that worth contagion more than a good malee damage?

Another thing is Our "Tri-disaster" is it that suck? or If I put it to the use with Shadow flare or before bane them, will it work well that way?

It's harder to master a Summoner than to max-level it.

Ifrit has it's uses. I use him mostly in CT though and if I need slightly higher damage.

Tri-disaster is an absolute disaster to be honest. Casting time is terrible, damage is negligible and it binds which is removed when they are damaged in other words...immediately.

It seems like Tri-Disaster would be good for binding enemies close together for a bane or to keep them under shadow flare, but it just doesn't work out that way. Cast time is too long and bind is too easily broken. I use it occasionally, once I've bane'd, SF'd, Miasma II, etc and have nothing else to do (usually mobs are almost dead by that point, so I don't see the harm in throwing out a few Tri-Disasters). If I was smart I would just use blizzard 2 as it has faster cast time, costs less mana, and does more damage - however ideally I think you'd want to mix it up, like on Brayflox there are a lot of AoE to avoid if you are close range, something like turn 4 the spiders don't have any AoE so close range is safe. Pick and choose, I suppose.

A little off topic but it would be nice if Tri Disaster did something else more useful.
I'm guessing the Tri part is
AOE, Bind, Damage.
The Disaster is the Terrible damage it does and long cast time.
maybe if it was a CD skill....

Tri-disaster should be swapped with Contagion and vice versa :D this way it'll help balance egis just that bit more without completing dropping the skill

It wouldn't change anything. It would be just as useless as it was when it belonged to SMN. Tri-disaster doesn't really serve a purpose outside of derping around with it. For a 266 MP cost I would like it to do something more than tid-bit damage and a bind that Blizzard II covers just as well.
