Mythos Farming Are Toxic

Yes. Atm All this Mythos Farming is making the Community Toxic as ever.
People just wanting to do Roulette and some asshole decided to turn it into a Mythos run wasting the Soldiery bonus only to do the 1st and 2nd boss.

The 2 Class that always do this are Tank HIGHLY and healers. DO THE WHOLE RUN!!! Stop wasting peoples time just so you can have a half hour Penalty!!

Report them. Let them waste even more time while banned.

I know it's been said like 500 times, but... couldn't use Party Finder to set up your own parties? i see a lot of PF telling "full run" on them, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Yes, sucks if you find this kind of idiots on Duty Roulette, but... "wasting the soldiery bonus"? you don't waste it until you complete the dungeon. If you don't complete it the bonus doesn't dissapear.

Ya and it only takes 3-5 minutes after the second boss to finish. Some people.

Yeah, I've seen a great deal of this lately on Brayflox runs. Second boss dies, tank suddenly disconnects. The blame resides as much with S-E as it does with the individuals who give little thought to their fellow players. They nerfed the Myth rewards to prolong content when they dropped the update and now they're relaxing the acquisition of it with 2.28. I'd say they were learning from their mistakes if I hadn't seen this happen so many times with them to not believe it's just a planned bottleneck they relax when their spreadsheets tell them the players aren't where they forecasted them to be at a certain date.

That's the sad thing about this to be honest, players feel they have a freedom in what they're doing but other than the top 1-2 Free Companies who beat content ahead of schedule S-E pretty much controls when the rest of us will reach key points in our progress.

Every time I see someone say Mythos I immediately think of C'thulhu.

This is the reason the OP has a reason to complain in the first place. I would recommend reporting anyone that ditches on a run before it is complete just because they didn't feel like finishing it. You sign up to run the full run when you hit the commence button. Short of a real emergency or something I see it as a contract and you should abide by your contract. Lucky for me I have not seen this happen to me yet or I would report. It more than sucks and is wasting peoples time. I remember a thread not too long ago stating "This is not your personal Brayflox myth farming service". I think that says it right there.

Tell me, how many times has this happened to you?

Everyday, everyweek. even with the patch to reduce the mythos, they still do it.

And it´s responded a 500 times - in a PF group, you miss out the Roulette Bonus...

Wow... You must have extremely bad luck or your server group is extremely bad.

Reason i ask this is because a lot of topics I see pop up about a toxic community spawn from a single incident.
I haven't had a Brayflox's run at all where people bailed after the second boss, and I have kicked only 1 person for toxic behaviour ever since vote kick was introduced.

It is, it is... "this content needs to make people busy until X date, so lets are bottlenecks to make them waste time".

Because... why design content to make you busy while having fun when you can implement bottlenecks or useless content *cough cough* fate atmas *cough cough*?

See, there's a problem here, as I sat pondering it.

If they made a sort of penalty, in which if you depart a dungeon after a period of time, after joining in Roulette, that your bonus for the day is considered spent. Then they would have to make it so that it did not affect players who were unfortunately disconnected due to a server or client side error, such as a power failure, or 90k. The only way it would be valid is if it was an intentional abandonment of the run. However, this would lead to some players simply shutting down the client completely, restarting it and circumventing that.

Unless SE chose to penalize a person for abruptly leaving an instance regardless of the reason, but while that would cause some people to get ticked off and a handful may actually take it as a slap in the face and unsubscribe. I believe the majority would approve the change and remain. .

The thing is, those that would abandon the game over a change like that, quite simply, are worthless anyways and simply want the easiest method possible to push through content. As someone else stated, it takes a few extra minutes to finish the last piece of the dungeon anyways. If whoever these tanks, healers, or dps are that are leaving midway would pick up and leave the game, in the end as a whole we'd be better off without them clogging up the system for players who do want to engage the content through the end.

Party Finder was designed for people who had specific plans for the dungeons, whether they are 1 room EXP farms, such as with AV or Darkhold, or a SR that focuses only up to the 2nd boss in Brayflox, or Main Scenario farming (relevant when it was 100 philosphy) and skipping cutscenes was specifically mentioned in the comment section. But Duty Finder is, has been and should remain so, as the dungeon is.

So I feel for you OP, I've honestly never had it happen during an expert roulette (I tend to get stuck with Township anyways), but I agree it's ridiculous and should be addressed, severely, to discourage further behavior from being repeated. They may be a little timid to go too severe with their method since the game's only a year old since the relaunch and they're still trying to build up a favorable impression with the gaming community as a whole. But at the same time, I believe they do owe something towards their current customers foremost, before considering potential customers in the future. Because if future customers are discouraged by that type of penalty, it could be assumed they would do similar things in the future and further frustrate the part of the community who genuinely want to clear content as it was meant to be.

I agree. Yet one GM (or Yoshida, i don't remember) said that they can't stop someone from being afk on a dungeon because they "don't have to" complete the dungeon. When you hit the commence button you agree to join, not to complete it (i know, it's a stupid move).

Agreed. Getting myth isn't even that time consuming. I have never farmed them and I still capped them quickly after I stopped using them.

Leaving abruptly, without any forewarning such as "I have an emergency, have to leave", could be seen as a form of harassment to other players. It's a type of griefing. SE aren't full of idiots, they know that Brayflox is notoriously known now for the Speed Run potential it has and if someone leaves after the second boss of a Brayflox HM, that's a flag. Now, they may not do anything, but if it becomes a consistent occurrence, then that would be worth looking into and dealing with the player for interfering with other player's attempting to complete a duty as intended.

So the short answer is NO? It is not against the terms of service to exit a dungeon (with penalty)? Wheather we see it as any form of griefing, it is not against TOS. SE has mentioned that they cant do anything about this due to the fact that they "Dont have to complete" the dungeon.

Reporting someone for exiting a dungeon would seem to be more so against the TOS imo. I peronally think thats toxic. If someone is paying for a sub what gives anyone the right to report them for simply "playing the videogame". You cant force someone to play the game how you want them to.

DF is a risk imo. If you enter, its at your own risk. If it takes 1 hour to complete the dungeon vs. never completing it all, this is a concious decision that we have made. This is what FC's/Friends/LS's are for. People that you can rely/count on.

You're not stupid, i'm not stupid, we all know is not a "coincidence" that someone leaves right after the 2nd boss (or after any boss from CT), however.. how could you prove it?

- I'm an idiot, i kill the second boss and leave---> people make a report and a GM talks to me -----> "yep, sorry. I said anything because my mother had a huge stomach-ache and i had to take care of her".

I know you can prove it, but is like turning off your modem to get a "connection lost". They can't do so much for it and that 30 minutes penalty is their punishment for this kind of behaviour...

Which is why I mentioned if it becomes a habitual occurrence. If you do something, the same thing, over and over again, how many times would an excuse work until eventually the punishment is dealt? Not many, I would think.

It happens with work, I've been in management for a long time, it goes the same way. If an employee calls into work saying they're sick, or they have to take someone to the doctor, family, pet, etc. Fine, if it's just a random thing that has never happened before, myself and other companies I've worked for have let it go.

Now, let's say that same person makes a habit of calling in, once-twice every few weeks, typically on a consistent basis around a certain day (like Friday), or right after pay day. Then that becomes a behavior issue and that turns into discipline, often times resulting in termination for failure to do their part, which is show up for work.

So, with that mind frame. If someone consistently "disconnects" or "has to go for their ill mother" after the second boss of Brayflox, often, then that person is lying. Or, simply has really, really bad luck. Either way, it should be dealt with the same way. It may frustrate and anger that person, they may infact decide to leave the game entirely, either feeling that they were unfairly punished, or, that they cant get away with their behavior any longer. It's a fifty fifty, but the deciding factor is, consistency.

The difference here is you dont pay your employer to work for them, they pay u! lol ! This is a videogame which we pay for as a service. Not a very good example but i get where you are coming from. All in all, this is not the workplace. Its a digital fantasy world, a videogame. People need to treat it as such.

No, you're absolutely correct. It's not, in any definition within the ToS, against their rules to leave abruptly. It could still be considered griefing, because by abandoning you're interfering with other people's ability to complete the dungeon. Which is why I bring up consistency, if that person in question shows a pattern of joining DF and leaving after a certain point, often, then that's one thing. If that person is simply leaving one out of every two hundred runs over the span of several weeks, then it's too random to be considered anything but happenstance.

You're right, you pay for the game, but so do the people who are also in that instance, who are also entitled the same fairness to complete a dungeon for the myth/sold tomes as anyone else who joined the run is. So while the immediate moment may not result in anything, by reporting that particular player for that type of thing, it could prevent them from doing it future players further down the road, ensuring that sort of behavior does not interfere with other players goals and ambitions.

Which again, returns me to why Party Finder was created in the first place. It exists for people who have specific goals in mind and only want those goals, such as SR'ing Brayflox, leaving after the second boss. I've ran hundreds, I've created just as many. It's there for a reason, it should be used.

What I don't like about the tanks and healers trying to get the best for them not caring for the rest of the party is that they know exaxtly what they do and that it is wrong. But they choose to remain silent, play nicely along till 2nd boss and boom they are silently gone leaving the rest behind who maybe need Strat tomes or can't receive their Roulette bonus anymore.

They know what they will do from the beginning and know why they don't inform anybody. That's foul and coward gaming and nothing else. I do not need a TOS to realize that. It is called inappropriate behavior. You can't expect that people are cool with not finishing a dungeon. People need strat, want Roulette bonus, need completion for ATMA. You can make premade parties in Group finder for such special runs.

Doing it through DF is just egoistic and it is abusing the system. Again, no need a TOS or SE for that, just civil manners. Especially tanks I have zero understanding. They don't have waiting times anyways and there is ALWAYS a speed run 2 boss only open in Group finder. But no, those few minutes are already too much. Rather instantly join through DF and leave the party behind. I hope all tanks doing this come to a point where they level a DD to see how nice this is for the rest of the players.

You can't report for just leaving, but if they are asking to be vote kicked, threatening to afk otherwise, you can report them.

If you are a healer and got bray from expert, refuse a SR, if the tank is just there for fast mythos, they'll probably bail right away instead of wasting your time any further.

I run all roulettes as a tank, so I have never see this happening (but it can still happen one day), but if this happened, I'd just proceed to report these people, if they ask to be vote kicked.

i'm not trying to sound like a jerk but it's obvious the majority of the people in this thread are upset dps classes. mainly melee dps at that too. Noone likes to see melee dps in the expert roulette because of the lack of AOE and most people would rather finish the dungeon quickly because it's simply a "daily" to them. Still, they joined duty finder which notoriously pits you with "questionable" individuals. Maybe if there was more reason to WANT to finish a dungeon this could be remedied. For instance, counts towards a tankless job completion, so they can work on their mounts. Healers should be getting a bonus of 4500 too to help prevent them from wanting to leave also. In the end, dps (mainly melee) will always get screwed over. The majority of this game makes you wait wait wait! so it's inevitable your gonna run into people lacking patience or wanting something to happen quickly.

I want to finish the dungeon because I like it lol. I wouldn't be doing it in the first place if I didn't, I don't need incentives.

Speed running and farming turn dungeons into a chore that you have to do to get what you really are after. They suck the fun out of the game.

I go out and buy a single player game, stick it on my platform of choice and start playing till I complete it.

I go out and buy FFXIV, then pay an ongoing monthly fee, then join upwards of a 30 minute queue so I can start playing the game only for a tank to drop out halfway through making it unlikely I can complete it.

Yeah, it's not so much a patience issue as a realistic expectation of being able to play a game I've paid for and continue to pay for on a regular basis while the producers of said game do nothing to alleviate the issue. Tank mounts that only count for Coil+ runs... are they seriously that imbecilic?

Dear Assclowns saying make PF to do full run,

Right back at ya! The DF is for complete runs. People queue up in DF for the Daily bonus because they need the Sold Tomes. If you don't need them and want to SR Bray, then YOU make the PF SR Group. Stop screwing over the people using the DF Feature properly and be an assclown in your own PF Groups!

As a healer I get in progress a lot and guess where the party be when I join. 2/3 progress so it happens for whatever reason. So it doesn't happen to excuse is lame and played out.

@OP

This issue is brought upon us by SE.
Before 2.2 every final boss in every dungeon that provided myth/philo gave both of those currencies.
Now the last boss only provides Sold tomes, thus people that are capped out have less reason to kill that final boss when they only need myth.
It still doesn't justify them leaving halfway a roulette run, but part of this issue is caused by SE removing double token rewards from final instance bosses.

I like how people are saying it's okay for myth farmers just to up and leave.
