Extremely Disappointed with SE repairing repair decision

So, why do weapons or gears break so fast? It is you, Square Enix faults. You allow a Rank 1 player to wear Rank 50 gears. It is inappropriate for their rank. Of course, they break down fast and people complaint.

Now SE decided to change their repairing method. I believe this is due to inventory issues, and new players will complaint that they can’t find a field repairing. A lot of it is due a high rank crafters do not having the repair mats on them. I am pretty sure there are no crafters like to carry the repair mat in his/her inventory if it is not needed.

I did a post to ask SE to have DOW and DOM to carry their own repair mats instead of crafters on this link …

But most people voted against it.

Right now I am extremely disappointed with SE repairing repair decision. It is obviously SE did not do proper research and do not understand what most players want.

If they want to solve this issue SE should the following instead…

Put a rank requirement for all the gears (Stop Rank 1 to wear R50 gears)
Have DOW and DOW carries his/her own repair mats (To solve the field repairing issue)
Have different Local vendors sell repairing mats (Making repair mats accessible)

I don't think it has to do with how fast they break, it has to do with the items and inventory room. Which is another stupid argument altogether because people don't know how to manage their items properly.

Either way it's a bad idea.

Dark matter seems fine, but then I'll lose the repair items I made from my weaver class, but it isn't such a big deal.

There is a thread that already exists that this post applies to. This is another unnecessary thread.

I can't tell what it is you're complaining about. No matter who had to carry the repair materials, there were a lot of items that were just terribly inconvenient. Top tier accessories taking mythril/electrum, for instance. Jade Hora, Crabshell Hora, Jade Crook, Smothering Baghnakhs, Mosshorn Scale Mail, etc. It was silly for anyone to carry around a dozen or more different repair materials.

It would be interesting if they decided to add an special effect if you use the recommended repair material instead of just making universal and leaving it at that. Like improved attributes and such, something that while the universal makes things easier, using the recommended would give a boost to those that take the time to use it.

i dont see what the big deal is now we only need darkmatter grades to repair, this will prevent some some mat costing craploads in the future. dark matter just helps storage space

The only thing about this that bothers me is that it -feels- like a cop out even though it's not. The best part about higher rank gear was that it took a special repair mat. I didn't always want to use that equip for the sake that getting it repaired was a pain in the ass.

However, in hindsight it's a brilliant idea, and hopefully in the future instead of rare repair mats, the equipment itself will have rare/hard to find ingredients. And really anyone who wou'ld argue against that should really just take a step back and accept that there is a small amount of the player base who would like to work on SOMETHING in this game.

I read an interesting (lol cracked) article about grinding, and how it was used POSSIBLY to lengthen a game's play through. To grind for a rare artefact, ingredient, it's rewarding when you finally get it. Whether it's from daily point grinding, or hack and slash luck based grinding.

I don't find this to be dumbing the game down for once, I think it's an opportunity to push the difficulty of gathering a certain item for repair, onto making the item itself.

If people choose to wear down high level gear while leveling, it's their fault. Wearing higher ranked gear is less efficient anyway... you only receive a percentage of the stats and the gear breaks faster. I don't get why people complain for SE to spend time fixing it... if anything just don't let those people into your grinding parties.

The reason the current system appears to fail is because people don't know how to price competitively/accurately and there are servers with barely any players playing to even support an economy (people seem to always forget this...). I think they should've expanded on their system, and maybe added a small perk for visiting a crafter for repairs instead of NPCs (i.e. 10% bonus durability, temporary boost to resilience, etc.)

I think it's a fair compromise for the people that loved the repair system and for those that hated it. I liked the repair system and have no problems with this one. I repair in every craft and it will be refreshing not to have to carry around so many repair mats.

People complain because they don't read.
It's their own fault to wear R50 equipment at R1.

And for f*ck sake, if you can't repair an equipment, then ask others! In this game you help each other or you'll not have both fun and convenience!

How can you say it's SE's fault that rank 1 players use rank 50 gear? You're right that maybe that's a bad decision, but the player is responsible for the decisions they make too. You can equip higher ranked items, but that is not properly playing the game.

This new repair method is good. There are so many repair materials out there that it's ridiculous to carry them all. As a crafter and gatherer, I already have s bunch of crap I made\gathered that's getting in my way but will need at some point or another, so having to add dozens of repair materials on top of that is just gay. +1 to SE on this one.

Stopping rank 1 from wearing rank 50 gears is quite simple:

A) make r50 gears unable to be obtained so early (increase their value beyond what low level players can manage).
B) inform the players about the status changes and the downsides clearly in-game.
C) make equipment matter outside aesthetics.

Since we can level many classes, which all need their own equipment, having very strict requirements for wearing it all is a massive hindrance. "I'm level 20 warrior but the earrings I use on my level 27 monk are for level 21. So instead of being able to wear the 21 earrings (with slightly gimped stats) at level 20 I am forced to buy the level 16 earrings for one level or not wear anything at all on that slot (and thus gimp myself even further)."

There's a place for unique equipment with strict restrictions. That is not the case for every item in this game. There are general pieces of gear that can be worn on many classes, so that I'll be able to save inventory space as well as allowing for actually leveling many classes effectively instead of having to hunt for different pieces of gear to perform well enough during the leveling process.

Just like in many cases, educating people is better than outright denying them a right to something they have yet to fully understand.

As far as repairing goes, the next step would be- Repair Kits. Crafters can make them and sell them to act as a mobile self-repairing method for the disciples. They may be more expensive, but you don't have to hunt down a crafter everytime you wish to repair your gear.

Just get rid of durability. Stop advocating this annoying system.

Why are people acting like the crafting classes won't still be repairing your gear just because the materials are generic? I'm pretty sure clothcrafters will still repair cloth gear, armorers metal gear etc...

They will never get rid of durability. It's about the only gil sink in the game.

It's not make sense if you can't wear a cloth because you have not enough RANK

think about it! if it something in real life... you can't wear that Armani suit because you're too low

You can't wear a police uniform around town if you aren't actually one either, and the price for an armani suit is enough of a barrier to entry that any "noob" can't just wear one.

yes, you can't wear a police uniform if you're not a cop. that's why they should have class specific gears

but if your rich friend gave you an Armani suit then you have the right to wear it even if you're poor and noob

While of course you know perfectly what "most players" want, right?

The new repairs system is easy, convenient, and still promotes interaction between adventurers and crafters.

Lack of level/class restriction on a large variety of gear is fine, as it lets people chose their look, instead of having everyone in the same class/level range wear the same crap, which looks horrendous.

I always find it massively funny how some people think they can talk for "most players" or "the community".

Well in truth there would be social consequences to wearing attire that did not fit your status in society. Would you be arrested and put in jail or shot over it? Well in most cases no probably not. There would be repercussions though.

Or in game-terms, you wouldn't be accepted to do group content because wearing gear too high for your level gimps you. That's the repercussion. On the other hand wearing the gear that doesn't fit is better than wearing nothing at all (pants come to mind!)

New system is only to dont have lots of diferents items to repair, not to fix it like u want. And of course, if u use a machine and u dont know how to use it, probably u will broke it faster than someone who know how to use it.
