contagion was removed from garuda and made a acn ability? i say acn cause job abilities have to come from a job quest
What the point?
summoner i would agree with, acn not so much, as this would give sch even more dps power, and they already overshadow whm without it.
asuming it was changed out with another weak ability, this would actualy bring the ifrit vs garuda into a fight by fight basis to, not just garuda 24/7
Replace tri-disaster with contagion. Do some stuff to balance new egi skills as promised for the next patch (maybe give tri-disaster to garuda-egi). SMN doesn't need to be more powerful, it just needs less useless skills.
If you are taking contagion off of the pet and onto the caster, it would have to go to ACN and not SMN.. since its available to ACN already with Shining Emerald on Carby.
*insert speech about cross-class abilities here*
HA lol jokes, lets face it they dont even come close to making up the dps of job vs class, as sad as it is, that even applies to war vs mrd, and this coming from someone who has all classes at 50 and does a lot of testing on all this.
What if square enix brings sky raid from 11 to here. That's one of the raids I enjoyed in 11.
It shouldn't become an ACN ability. I'd be ok with it going onto smn, even if it costs me another GCD. What people don't seem to realize is that we'll still just use Garuda since she's safer than ifrit in any situation. His minor dps lead won't matter when he dies spectacularly.
Until another ranged egi comes out Garuda will be our bossing egi. This is fine. What they should do is create new egis for other situations, like give leviathan aoe abilities. Then he'd be pretty good for dungeon running. Ramuh could paralyze, shiva could bind (and make her bind not total shit like all the rest), etc.
a lot of people seem to underestimate just how much more dps ifrit adds, yes garuda is ranged by there isnt to many fights that ifrit is actually liable to die, the main problem is knockbacks causing him to lose a large portion of dps, that or insufficient micromanagement of your pet.
My ifrit only parses 8-12 dps more than garuda on dummies with both on obey (since he isn't glitched it's better than sic for him now from what I noticed). Sure this can be boosted with a MNK but that's not always available. Meanwhile my party pretty much always has a bard which does boost Garuda's damage a fair amount. Not as often as a MNK could boost ifrit but still quite a while to the point where she's usually between 80-100dps depending on crits and uptime in all the new content. And I don't have to worry about her eating cleaves in T6 or 7 and I hardly have to micromanage her in 6 because of where I place her.
i really hate how everyone keeps thinking this...
ifrit is affected by monks, yes, is it the only contributor, no.
dragoon piercing debuff and warrior slashing debuff affect ifrit in the same manor, in the rare case your party has a warrior monk and dragoon, ifrit becomes a god... assuming he doesn't die xD
on a side note, based on my latest tests i did on ifrit-egi, you are correct in thinking obey is better than sic for ifrit
Most likely this will happen, since Tri-disaster is completely useless outside of speed runs (where you don't have a BLM to sleep) and occasional mechanics. I wouldn't mind if they just deleted Tri-disaster altogether.
I can't see another way they can balance the pets if they leave Garuda as the only one with contagion. Perhaps they could give Ramuh and Leviathan something stronger, but then it would be the same situation with having one superior pet that everyone uses (and no thought process involved in choosing it).
They also need to adjust the useless utility pets have into something helpful in end-game content. For example:
- Garuda's shockwave is pointless because it's low damage and requires the pet to get in close range to use it (both factors are a dps loss)...and even then, someone else should be interrupting whatever you're using Garuda to interrupt.
- Ifrit's radiant shield that reflects damage is a complete and utter waste, because he is never tanking.
- Titan itself, in the end-game, as a tanking utility, is a useless summon-- you may as well have a member of the party tanking instead.
Shockwave is great as a stun alternative. Very useful on leviathan. A silence might be better, though.
Radiant shield is dumb. A 'Raging Strikes' pet self buff would be preferred.
Titan's could simply use a taunt. Give it a long cooldown (90-180s) so main tanks aren't offended.
