possible new 3 star rotation

I just worked this out last night, checked it today and it will succeed in progress, but rng effects quality.

if at 1000 starting quality with innovation you should get at least 70% quality.
if at 2000 starting quality with innovation you should get at least 90% quality.

if at 1000 starting quality with great strides you should get at least 85% quality.
if at 2000 starting quality with great strides you should get at least 95% quality.

(used crafting simulator for percentages, may not be exact)

chances are you'll hq every time with this with just one tot to
use steady hand 2 near the end to cover byregots blesing, and with 2 tot its virtually guaranteed.

of course that's assuming all the hasty's land, which they won't, but since you should get some goods on them it should even out.

some things that can be done to make it more flexible are, switching the piece by piece turns with hasty's if you get good / excellent procs. just use a piece by piece later in the synth exchanging it for one of the other hasty's. masters mend 2 can be used one step later if it lands on a good as well.

In a best case scenario, this goes even with (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ity-before-AFK) at max 10 touches and in a worst case scenario (hasty touches miss or you don't get enough goods), it's much worse because you don't have Great Strides as part of the normal rotation.

I applaud your attempt at finding something better but no thanks.

I agree no great strides is not a good thing but it can still work with innovation. its a gamble I agree but its nice to have alternatives.

ding dings has 5 chances at a good without breaking his rotation,. this has 9, so its even I think as your very likely to get 1-2 goods in there.

admittedly though I used ding dings to create my gear.

true that flexibility is needed with creating 3 star gear, but even then you still want to maximize your chances and having a good base pattern to work around helps a lot with regards to it.

plus as ding ding said if we get enough cp in the future then its a guaranteed thing like 2 star. As it stands though there's rng to contend with which I'm fine with as I like a little gamble with my synths.

Unless the crafting sim was updated recently, don't trust it. Quaduple checked my craft/control as well as difficulty of attempted synth. Simulator miscalculated progress big time and resulted in my breaking my first 3-star synth.

I don't trust it, I know the progress will succeed since i've done that on other 3 star synths.

I only used the crafting simulator as a guide to steps and percentages not progress.


some testing confirms the rotation succeeds. however terminus putty only got to 39% after failing 3 hasty touch's, but with great strides.

I also made a cashmere skirt of aiming, starting at 1703 quality, got 4 tot and used full rotation with 2 missed hasty touch's and it hq'd no problem.

I also made a cashmere robe of healing, starting at 1703 quality. got 1 tot and missed 2 hasty touch's couldn't use great strides got to 76% quality. rng threw me an nq though, but still solid quality rating. although not what we would want to see.

Just tried a cashmere skirt of striking starting at 1703 quality, got 3 tot but decided to sabotage my synth. I used one basic touch (failed) the rest hasty's although 2 failed. and the steady hand 2 to cover byregots blessing. skipped great strides and innovation in favour of a good proc of bb. got to 84% quality rng still gave me a hq though.

in conclusion the rotation works and there's parts that can be switched around in favour of good and excellent procs. but even if you don't so long as you get two tot starting with most hq mats this works and if you have 1 tot and all hq mats it would work, even with a few missed hasty's youll still get high percentage of quality.

I admit its not perfect and its a gamble but from what I see all rotations are a gamble to a degree.

Normally I like to go with HQ Bouillabaisse, as always if its a good proc then you Tricks.

I always save enough CP to SH2 GS+ BB for the last 20 -> 10, bonus if I have enough Ingenuity 2 or Innovation
CS2 to finish it off.

Things always work well if I have enough CP to get that second MM2 off.

If you had no market interference i'd agree with you on this but being able to macro 80% of the combine removes a ton of work out of it making anyone macroing able to work less / put in far less effort and thus price lower for their brain power consumed.. lower pricing then makes it 'not worth it' to other competitors and then pricing can be jacked back up after they tire of you and just quit because they have to exert so much extra effort to not be rewarded for it. I maintain a 98%+ finished good hq rating so trying to super max qual is pointless when less effort measures exist. As pricing on 3 star lowers these methods will take over just like they did for 2 star.... I macrod 2 star using 100% hq methods from 0 long before the bulk of the populous had the guts to even do a macro due to being scared of the price tag and the what if of a lag spike eating product. Im currently highly interested in when the myth bump happens next patch that will push prices much lower if they carry out what they talked about and the uptake of people selling 3 star due to being more venturous and seeming like less of a threat to their wallet.

that's an interesting way to look at it and I see how it can work but I'm not a fan of rapid synth, however when prices drop on mats I will give it a try.

I agree with macroing, however I just tend to learn the pattern as macro's are a little slower to run. not that I vary much but it just saves me time.
However I don't make much 3 star gear because I got bored with the constant management it takes to keep prices relevant on the mb. I don't need to be the cheapest but with this gear you do have a lot of gil on the line and although things are picking up on my server there still not worth the time investment for me. And its not due to profit as there's plenty but just got bored of mb in general.

so now I just craft to keep my gil level constant which doesn't take much. although I did just spend 1mil melding gear for my retainers.

I've pretty much stopped selling 3 star, as it's more effort to make gil than it was and I have far more gil that I'm ever likely to spend.

I just switched from shiva to behemoth and the price difference on 3star is quite high,. I only broke even on what I had,. mats aren't even that cheap so people are either competing to clear there stuff or sourcing other than mb for mats.

could be profit in the future if the former is true..
