Players ditching the dungeon before everyone's even finished loading

I've witnessed this happening more and more, and I've even encountered the same players doing it in the duty finder within the 30 minute penalty. I think players have found a way to leave instances without penalty (and no this is not preformed groups)

This is obviously an exploit around a measure put in place to prevent this exact behavior from taking place.

They might be loading faster, seeing the gear/HP of the people there, and then choosing to leave because they don't think the run will go well.

I'm not saying this is right, but I think this is the most likely scenario, and I have personally witnessed it a few times.

You'd think, but then someone I know had their Sastasha abandoned by the tank before they even loaded in. Sastasha.

It's still something that should be getting heavily penalized, just because you don't wanna run a given dungeon that you signed up for, you're abandoning three other players who now have to try to deal with it without you, or on dungeons too strict for that to be possible, have to now decide to either ditch and return to queue, or wait for a replacement who might never show.

Actually the people sign up for DF roulette not that dungeon. Satasha is great if you want a quick dungeon. If you want xp blaim SE they lowered the xp rewards so now the lower lvl dungeons punish you even more. If your a lvl 40 + job and you get a lvl 30+ dungeon form DR your going to get a whole level or about 300k-400k, before the update you could get 1.5 levels. If you get a low level dungeon, any dungeon under lvl 30 including haukke manor you get about 160k-180k if you kill all the mobs. They removed the incentive for the tank and and healer who get 5min or less ques to stay in the dungeon. Many people in our fc don't use DF to level jobs anymore do to the punishment for low level dungeons being so high and low level dungeons being so high in demand. I get a lot more people that "DC" on the first pull so they get voted kicked then I have had instant leavers, No one that leaves at start should be able to reenter dungeon though

On PC with SSD dungeon usually loads much faster and if everyone else still loading, you can leave without penalty.

They really need to give a 1 hour penalty for pulling this crap in a roulette, and for the player to lose the roulette bonus. Because I'm sorry, me and a friend spent 30 minutes queuing up for a dungeon, just for the healer and tank to leave instantly. Now we're waiting on another one...ENOUGH OF THIS!

They didn't lower xp rewards. You get roughly the same xp regardless of the dungeon you do, based on your current level. The bonus at the end is adjusted to account for the difference in mob xp. In lower dungeons, like Sastasha, the bonus at the end will be higher than it would be for a dungeon like Stone Vigil, where you get most of the xp from the mobs. It is actually better to get Sastasha as you will get more xp/hr. Only when you aren't running roulette should you want the highest level instance.

this is wrong. they changed it so all lower level dungeons give you roughly the same about of exp in the dr. dungeons closer to your current level give higher exp for mobs killed so the bonus at the end is lower. dungeons farther from your current level give lower exp for mobs killed so the bonus at the end is higher.

Queueing for Duty Roullette is just that a roullette, if you don't like what you could possibly get then don't queue up and waste other people's time. I think its fair that even if you are still inside the bubble and all members havent loaded yet, if you leave you should still get the 30min lockout so that the trouble you caused others is reflected upon YOU, the person who caused it.

what happened was, people got a atma book, needed a certain dungeon, tried to use roulette for the bonus, and when the dungeon they needed didn't pop, the leave immediately to retry. this is why people are leaving right away. they are trying for a certain dungeon via roulette, and it isn't popping for them

I am one of "those" people who will leave before the game begins if an unfavoured dungeon pops up, so I will tell you what the deal is from personal experience. Kimura410 has got it mostly right. For players who already have everything there really isn't much penalty for skipping out, especially when the rage quit penalty got heavily reduced on patch 2.2 (i think). You have to leave a dungeon 3 times in a row under an hour in order to get the penalty. People are expliting it through roulette by rolling the dice twice, and then if they don't get the dungeon they want they just que for it directly without roulette. After it's complete they'll use the roulette and try again. This process is repeated until the favored dungeon pops up on roulette. The system is very flawed honestly. I remember back then when you got a 30 min penalty instantly for leaving. Kind of miss that system really.

Anyway, I agree with RyuDragnier. The roulette bonus should be used up on first que. That would prevent people from leaving early on.

Had this happen to me TWICE last night - effig moron tank left during load up. Not that it would bother me much as I was WHM atm but A) I might have lost the Healer bonus (was going after GC seals for ventures) if I'd requeue and B) I've had no heart to leave 2 DPS standing there alone so we did it in 3 without tank just fine. And - guess what - about an hour later when I was running the DR with my DRG - EXACTLY the same crap - tank left upon loading - again we did it in 3 without one! As suggested above - for ANYONE leaving like this impose BOTH at least 1 hour penalty plus remove the DR bonus for the day for that category. There is no other way how to deal with such scums.

I've been having this issue with healers in Brayflox normal like crazy lately. Yesterday, in two separate queues, I watched a total of five healers jump ship before the first boss. Today it happened twice more. It's frustrating to level and gear alt classes when you can't even get a dungeon started.

Not sure how people actually avoid the penalty.
A friend with high end pc (with SSD and all) tested: cancel cutscene, leave duty, slapped with penalty, and that was before the other people had come out of the cutscene...
So how exactly do people do it?

^^ this. And that's something SE can't solve for us entirely. It is up to each individual player to use the Roulette in an appropriate way. The idea is that what you get is random. Not the one you look for. I you want the one you look for, register to it directly or use Party finder. Don't use Roulette because you want your extra tomes no matter how much time it costs others that suffer from such a "i choose only the best for me" behaviour. Just ask yourself if you would like what you do to others. Normally the answer should be NO but some still give a crap. Because their needs are above all others. That's not fair Game.

I would make the penalty worse - you abandon any roulette - 24 hour penalty for all roulettes. The issue will be how to qualify a valid dc v someone pulling the plug to get themselves out. Maybe put a time limit or something on it - if you're in less than 5 minutes and get out, 24 hour penalty or something.

Tough to code these things - where's there's a pattern, there's someone who finds a way around it....

I don't know what is going on, but I always end up with one other DPS character (my character has DPS role) or another, after 2 attempts to take down Ilfrit, in the Lord of the Inferno dungeon. I'm currently still after another attempt when I get back on the game.
I haven't used Duty Roulette yet by the way.
