This is all that is needed to be said about how people are using these forums.
It's sad but true, it is a bit more positive than the fan based forums, but, it is getting bad.

I'm glad you're breaking the trend by being constructive.
I came here to post this. While I think that video is great, you are not helping. Look at it this way, people finally have an outlet to tell SE directly what they think... they are going to use it! I admit it can get out of control and they need to have one thread per topic so it doesn't fill the board, but people are entitled to tell SE how they feel. Also its the first day, people will get bored.
Well it's still like day 1 since these suckers went up. I would give it some time to slow down and the 'omg new shiny' factor to subside a little bit. Then I would expect things to pick up. =P
People are entitled to say what they feel. SE are entitled to ignore posts which contains no arguments nor constructive criticism regarding its topic. If those posts/threads weren't there in the first place, it would be a lot easier for people to discuss the issues in a proper manner, and a lot easier for SE to find good suggestions and feedback.
Thank you for giving me this link.
Now gtfo.
...
I WANTED A PONY.
I think the word you're looking for is composed. :)
Funny video. This is how i view many people on the FFXIV forums
Just to give you an idea of the people we're here with, it took less than 24 hours for people to start complaining about the dev tracker even though nothing has even been said in english yet, which i might add other people are gonna complain about too.
Not game related but you get the idea
Forums will slow down with days but the complaints will threads will still pile up until some more patches. Alot of people are passionate about this game and some go even farther and are just plain crazy about it.
MMORPG players have been carefully educated to be whiny, overly demanding, full of spite and grudges and ultimately prone to think they "know better" of those stupid, useless developers (the "armchair developer syndrome") even if they never put a line of code on a screen.
It's unfortunate, but you will never find a forum dedicated to ANY mmorpg (fan-run or official) that's not like that.
I absolutely loved the video though...
The biggest thing is the fact people are making multiples of the same topic.
That.. was really funny XD
That said though, I've been shocked by how civil most people are being around here. There's a bit of thoughtless bashing going on but even the people behind that are refraining from being jerks for the most part... from what I've seen.
Then again, last official forum I was involved in was EVE Online's, so.. hm >.>
1year for now you still see the same ppl talking bad about the game 5years later they still going to talk bad about the game. When the game get shut down they be crying there ass off on how hard they work on FFXIV and move on to the new FF online and talk shit about it then there kids grow up playing the new ff and they do the same thing. 50000000000000000 years later you still see them bitching. the matter of the fact matter how much SE add to FFXIV someone going to be unhappy about it.
LOL Gath you actually posted the video link I sent you here... Well done my friend. Well done.
And you've even managed to get it to 2 pages of posts so far. Even better.
@Zenaku and maybe globally: Do you think those 'people' will still be around when you have to pay monthly for it given that the forums require an active FFXIV account?
P.S. Gath for Senior Forum Moderator so he can put that in his signature and beat people with the knowledge that he is the Senior Forum Moderator! Ruler of forums! Keeper of the smiley face! Quoter of previous posts! <3 Gath
I tend to agree with this. While I think vociferous criticism is helpful (and obviously more of it would've been helpful during beta, but people like Abriael drowned out the rational criticism and ultimately hurt the game), suggestions are basically pointless. Unless you're a world-class game developer, you probably don't know any better than the devs at SE, who are also world-class devs.
Therefore, it's terrifying to see SE grovel to the player-base and release these silly PR polls like we know any better than they do. Where's the vision? Where's the breakneck speed of content updates?
EDIT: It's important to note that the current dev team may be doing all they can. My pet theory is that the game is woefully underfunded and understaffed, and that the dev team needs more financial resources in order to make the necessary changes.
LOL sad but true. grammatical errors and all.
LOL. The little rational criticism I've seen during the beta (or now, at that) has been and is drowned outby the crapton of irrational and vociferois criticism that not only doesn't help one bit, but suffocates whatver good ideas randomly happen to be expressed. The ones that hurt the game are some trolls with "pet" conspiracy theories that have no other purpose here than dropping contentless bashing and trying to spread FUD.
Luckily little easy elements tend to unmask them, like their signatures.
Ah, the little lovely trick of concern trolling. Your "pet theory" conflicts with reality. If Square Enix was intent in underfunding the game, they would have shown evidence of cutting costs, no evidence like that is visible. Quite the contrary, they're shouldering the costs of running the game making us play for free and they increased the size of the team, moving key figures from other teams to it.Quote:

That alone proves you wrong.
The only right thing you said (even if with a rather malicious intent) is that they're most probably doing all they can. Too bad you don't consider that even with more than sufficent funding and a big team they can't snap their fingers to make updates appear by themselves. Development, testing and localization times still exist. The only place where they don't exist is in the head of people that are utterly ignorant about game development, and that think that complex mechanics can be changed overnight and test themselves.
Considering that no other MMORPG before final fantasy XIV has been updated as fast (despite several changes in the development team in between that for sure didn't help them be faster), the above question is utterly laughable. Also, labeling polls simply as PR is definitely not that smart. Knowing what the customers want can't hurt, and has several degrees of utility (millions of companies do it, across several kinds of businesses). What matters is how such polls are filtered in the decisional process.Quote:
