Unfair rolling system?

Currently the rolling system will not have a "tie". And each person who rolls will immediately get the results(roll number) on their window.

Which means if someone roll first and get 99. 99 is no longer available.

So if 7 people rolls in the following numbers, 99, 98, 97, 96, 95, 94, 93. The last person(8th person) who rolls is guaranteed a lose.

If this is really how the way the loot system works. It is very unfair for people who rolls slower. Most of the time, I would look carefully before I loot. Especially GREED parties. So, I can't really be fast hands. But the system works in way such that fast hands will have higher chance of winning the day.

I would say that the biggest issue is that people being able to need on gear that's a downgrade for them
Seeing a caster in weathered/coil gear needing on Ilvl 70 drops in the new dungeons is frustrating when the other caster in the party clearly needs that upgrade, sadly that's what happens when DL can be traded for seals.

Inversely I could also say that the first person to roll can get a 1 and is therefore unfair to the first roller. Imagine if the roll order was 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and the last person gets the 8. Wouldn't the last person to roll therefore have an advantage?

why would a tie make it fairer. then they would be forced to break the tie via random lot or ANOTHER roll. and if that ties another roll...and if that ties another roll.

the loot system is fine.

No, because the opposite is true for the disadvantage the OP posted. It's equal no matter how hard you try to cut it even if it's hard to understand

Bizarre way of thinking.

As Rameatz pointed out, rolling first doesn't guarantee anything.

That was pretty much my point. There can be both an advantage and disadvantage to this system.

But gears can be exchanged for like 800 seals each now, which can easily be converted to gil. Vanity is another reason to loot items which are not an upgrade. By all means, if I was in a friends run, I'd gladly pass on stuff a friend could use, but expecting people to roll pass on drops in duty finder?

i70 eqs are just lacklustre placeholders for even new players now, until they have either ct, myth or soldiery gear to replace them. getting all slots to i80 is neither difficult, nor very time consuming. This really isn't a big deal imo, concerning the i70 drops in dungeons.

Something along these lines occurred to me and I wondered if there would be any advantage to casting lots early or late.

So I reduced it to a simple scenario, 3 players, 3 available numbers. Then made a little table and plotted out who would win for each scenario. x.y.z where x is the first persons roll, y is the second.. and you can work out what z is.

[1.2.3] - third wins
[1.3.2] - second wins
[2.1.3] - third wins
[2.3.1] - second wins
[3.1.2] - first wins
[3.2.1] - first wins

OK, so seems that there are an equal number of winning scenarios for the person rolling 1st, 2nd or 3rd, with an equal chance of each occurring.

AH! But there's more numbers in the roll pool that players in the party, might that affect anything?

I'm sure it's was obvious and considered, but being me, I had to satisfy myself that in fact it doesn't matter when you roll. And I did. But I still roll as fast as I can, particularly at the end of dungeons... but just as a common courtesy to resolve the pool as quick as possible.
