Like, Jenova's head? Or Jenova's body?
Either way, I'll be creeped out.
Well, depending on what I saw with the T9 leaks, we have a really powerful advesary for Coils 3 to beat.
Oh yes, this would be epic. I can picture it now, Jenova going through all of her forms with that amazing music.
That would make no sense.
no sense at all. doesn't mix with eorza.
...And then what? After we defeat JENOVA, Sephiroth comes out pissed that we killed his Mommy. He then goes to summon Meteor. It hits. Then causes another Calamity.... We adventurers cause enough problems. Do we really need to add this to them? @_@
Considering how other monsters and bosses from previous games have made appearances it wouldn't be out of the question. Lightning from FF 13 made no sense in Eorzea but she still ended up there, albeit briefly. Regardless, Jenova would be a cool addition to this game.
Sephiroth seems capable of going many places through the years. If he wants to come to Eorzea in an attempt to tear it apart I wouldn't mind this either :P
If they weaseled it in as like a bio-organism that was like a defense system ala ADS for a Turn in Coil. Each different encounter would be a further evolved form and having a remixed version of the song, I guess I wouldn't mind so much. I still feel I would be more interested in some original material.
All I care about is what the Soken remix would be like.
To be fair Lightning was sent to Eorzea by God to prepair her for Holy Mission or something as I remember from the event cutscenes, still didnt make much sense but makes more sense then Jenova been here.
I personally want them to just leave VII and its characters alone at this point, its been 18 years since it came out and its still regarded as masterpiece so lets just be happy with that before they over do it like they did with XIII. Not that I didnt enjoy XIII (I loved it) but still to much of a good thing and it gets annoying.
I agree, but I also think that it is original usage of pre-existing content within the overall IP. I can tell you this, while I would like to see original content, there is almost no original content they could add that would be more exciting than a well done JENOVA scenario.
Let us not forget that we will also have to sit through a 5min cutscene (no matter how awesome it was at first) when he does use Meteor. I can just imagine the outrage from my peers...
On a lighter note, a recurring named enemy that alters form/mechanics would be a little interesting as a side story, I guess. Think episodic storyline (like how they release the Hildibrand quests).
It seems they could easily incorporate JENOVA via the Garlean story line as a biological weapon of some kind, there is nothing to say it has to follow in the same lore as FFVII, but it should probably remain as close as possible graphics and music wise.
They could even have an enhanced hard mode and extreme mode where it is completely reborn as a new model and has different mechanics to its previous forms.
no more thingies unrelated to the lore just to please the fans please. FFXIII crap was enough.
They wouldn't even have to connect it to VII at all. A simple cameo boss fight would be sufficient to please long-time fans, for those who know what Jenova was from originally. Diabolos is a decent example of this.
I like this idea...a lot.
Lightning, Shantotto and Gilgamesh are all characters from previous games who are capable of transporting through different dimensions. JENOVA doesn't have this capability and really doesn't fit into Eorzea/Hydaelyn. I like some of the cameos they've made (Biggs and Wedge) but something as significant to the plot as JENOVA was to FF7 I don't think they really need to make an appearance here.
That is exactly what I was thinking too! It wouldn't be a stretch in all honesty, alot of the Garlean lore has elements of previous Final Fantasy sprinkled in with a new twist (Ultima, Primals, etc.)
I'm not saying they need to bring in ANYTHING else from VII, just a cameo boss fight with a remixed theme would be awesome.
I do agree with you to some extent, but it could still be done. After all we're playing a game that contains cat people, slug-like rabbits, little green creatures wielding kitchen knives and lanterns, etc. Logic doesn't really need to apply here lol There is a line, though and some things probably shouldn't be added. That said this is a Final Fantasy game and almost anything is possible if they go about it the right way.
Jenova can very well make it's way into the game, not hard, and won't conflict with Eorzea lore at all seeing as how it's an extraterrestrial beingQuote:
Jenova (γΈγ§γγ, Jenoba?) is an extraterrestrial life-form
Once Jenova lands upon a planet it will destroy every form of life it finds. Jenova can absorb its prey's memories and form, hiding as their loved ones to destroy them.
Once Jenova has destroyed a planet it uses it as a vessel to travel the cosmos to another planet.
Approximately two thousand years ago, an alien creature landed on Gaia, having traveled through space on a meteor.
Wait, what? Why on earth would we need the Calamity from Final Fantasy 7, when we already have this bad ass filling the role?

No.

Whenever we face Bahamut, pretty sure he's gotta be pissed off at the Allag technology putting him back together... it's going to be a 24 person raid is my thinking.
I love the idea of previous bosses making their way into this game. What's great about them is that they are OPTIONAL! Debbie Downers who don't like it don't have to participate.
Could be cool if, as you fight her through her phases, she shifts into her different forms.
Absolutely not. It's bad enough we got FF13 crammed down our throats, we don't need FF7 too. I don't mind them reusing obscure bosses but not main bosses.
these are constants in ALL Final Fantasies... Jenova is only a thing in FFVII..and was the big bad to boot... Turning one games Big Bad into a coil boss, just for fan jollies, not only cheapens the lore of XIV, but the lore of the game you ripped them from.
also, FFVII is overrated. (couple this with all the whining that would follow of "Jenova doesn't look right, the music's not as good, Jenova's attacks are wrong, this fight was better in VII..." rather not want to hear it and don't tell me it wouldn't happen, they could actually force you to play an Emulator version of it within XIV, and people would still say it.)
I'm not sure what all the anger is about, it was simply an idea. If you don't like it, move along to the next thread:D
As for taking the "big bads" out of previous games, I heard that they are going to be adding the Cloud of Darkness as a boss in one of the upcoming CT expansions, so it's more than likely already a possibility.
They already did a Cameo for a Final Fantasy Game like that. It resulted in both Cloud and Aerith making an appearance in that game (Although the Aerith wasn't actually Aerith). And the player got control of Cloud for the entire rest of that game... I do not want a Cloud Companion to be present in FFXIV.....................
And for those nay sayers who are claiming that Final Fantasy 7 Characters can't travel to Eorzea because they don't have the ability to travel to other dimensions. There is actually precedent. Cloud traveled to the world of Ivalice via the Lifestream when he ended up in the Lifestream during Final Fantasy VII. Interestingly enough, Ivalice does not have a Lifestream to the best of my knowledge. It does however sport Materia, which was their Justification for it.
Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy XIV both share the phenomena known as the Lifestream. As such travel between the two worlds via the Lifestream should be more than possible. In fact it is even possible that Eorzea is an older version of Final Fantasy VII's world. Afterall Costa Del Sol exists in both games....
look there is a difference between "good" fanservice and "bad" fanservice
"Good" Fanservice: Oblique references, side characters thrown in that give you a chuckle when you notice them, maybe even a few of the MID-bosses NAMES being used, one time events that come and go once maybe twice like the XI and XIII event...
"Bad" Fanservice: Direct shoehorning of characters from previous tittles into the Main Story just because they were popular... along time ago, adding The Big Bad from other games just to scream "HEY! REMEMBER THIS? WASN'T THIS COOL! LOVE MEEEE! LOOOOOVE MEEEE!"
Basically, it's kinda like repeating a joke, Clever people can take the joke tweak it a bit and make it their own, the other is just standing around repeating lines from Popular movies until everyone want's to punch you.
