Roulette Abuse?

I'm not sure if anyone has had this issue as frequently as I have lately, but it seems that a lot of instances are missing a tank and/or a healer right from the start. It's as if they immediately leave when it's not an instance they like.

It has just happened to me for the tenth time today, and it's beyond frustrating at this point. I can't even finish loading into the instance before someone disappears.

I've even had a tank today say "nope!" at the very start of Haukke Manor and just drop out immediately.

I know emergencies and real life happen, but it's frustrating to wait almost half an hour as a DPS class only to have to repeat the process again, and again, and again with no progress.

Has anyone else seen this a lot lately? Surely there has to be some kind of countermeasure that can be put in place for the people that exit an instance almost immediately because they don't like it. Ideas?

I had this happen last night. Zoned into Halatali HM and tank just left. The SMN got out Titan and tanked up to the 2nd boss before we got a replacement.

It's frustrating! I'm trying hard to level my BLM, but it's as if I can't with the way the duty finder has been. I feel really bad for people that are just starting out.

Side note: just had it happen to me for the eleventh time today...

It's frustrating. And it's not helped by the fact that even with the desertion debuff, the tank who dropped will frequently still wait less time than the dps to find a new group.

However, if you have cooperative FC or LS members, then you can ask them to join your instance with the Party in Progress box checked, and there's a decent chance that they'll end up with your group.

Well i saw not only tanks droppin , but dps & healers too . Atm what i doing is taking screenshot right @start so i know who to report lol (ye lol i actuallt play tank , but i sick of dps or healers that insta dropping or leaving after loot/2nd boss u know). I posted somewhere my thoughts bout this already XD , i think time what left from duneon time to use as penality :D

That work for Brayflox too 75 ~ 80 after second boss is nice .

You don't incur a penalty for leaving in that portion, I noticed. And I think it's some kind of glitch o_o

It's happened to me too and it is frustrating, even when I play as one of my healers with the shorter wait time. People are so disrespectful of others' time.

Short story. I queued up for what I thought was Amp Township (I was really tired and not paying attention) but quickly realized I had chosen wrong when the Amp Keep cut scene began. Even though I had no desire to do Amp Keep, I didn't ditch. I stayed through the whole instance.

If it is in fact a bug in the system, hopefully it gets taken care of soon. If not, there should be something in place to discourage people from dropping immediately. It's something that too many people are taking advantage of and it negatively impacts other players.

I can't agree more how annoying it is to have to wait so long as a DPS to have to deal with this childish shit. I can't count how many times I've done dungeons tankless with my Titan Egi cause I refused to wait to get back into a DR/DF.

My main is a healer, which isn't the issue here. And no, it's not specifically the tanks and healers as others have pointed out. Unfortunately, they are near impossible to find replacements for as it's not common for them to queue 'in-progress.' They can just queue for a full run with no problems. It's the people that use roulette, knowing that they are testing their luck with whatever instance they get, but still ruin it for other people that may have been waiting significantly longer than they have. And because the instance hasn't even really started yet, it's hard to say if they have even receive a penalty. Just frustrating.

A friend tested this recently. He skipped cutscenes fast, the others were still in cutscene, he left... and got 30 minute penalty.
Not sure how people manage to avoid it, if it actually is possible to leave without penalty.

A little while ago, after 2.2 hit, some people had the issue that the game locks in the loading screen for the cutscene.

Dunno if it has been addressed yet but maybe these players you think are abusing where just having technical difficulties.

This happened to me a few times as a Monk in Brayflox (hm). I'll just jump on my tank to avoid that. It is a pain in the Butt. I think that happened to me like 3 or 4 times last week.

used to be alot worse... asoon as some1 said 1st time here people left werent even willing to help the 1st timers through the dungeon lolz

but yeah DF isnt meant for speed runs or run up to 2nd boss kill n closed dungeon.. those sorts of runs should b outside of df with ur own premade teams - -

I see this in nearly every low-level roulette where I get either Hauke Manor or Toto Rak. Tank bounces immediately. Luckily hubby roles a tank so if he's free I can get him to join us. Have had some epic 3-man HM SM runs tho. :D

Haven't had to deal too much with the abuse of Brayflox HM where people drop after 2nd boss, so have been lucky there.

This makes me sad. I love Halatai HM. It's easy and quick once you know the tricks to tanking it. I've yet to have a group of any configuration fail. The ball chain debuffs give you some nice numbers, mistakes are easy to recover from even with random people and I've yet to have any one complain about being there.

I've also had people complain that we want to clear dungeon for xp when they're doing their roulette low run; "I just want to speed, this is my one roulette for the day and I don't want to take too long." If xp'ers did that for everyone just wanting quick seals, they'd never level up...

FFS, roulette isn't there for people to just get some quick seals; it's there as an incentive for helping lower level characters. It's not as bad as just leaving but c'mon, if you don't like doing low xp dungeons, don't do the roulette.

Though, I do think the bonus for low roulette should be more than it is.

Yeah tanks never seem to stay in some of our parties..

If you leave the duty while others are still viewing CS and the circle barrier is still up, you don't incur the 30 minute penalty for leaving.

Additionally, what is happening is that people are doing Low Level Duty Roulette for the Myth or XP bonus and hoping to get either Ifrit, Garuda, or Titan story mode. Where myth is concerned: 5 minutes for 60 Myth > 20-30 minutes for 60 Myth from running a low level dungeon.

This problem will continue to exist until SE creates a "Low Level Trials" for roulette and separates it from the dungeons.

Had this happen the other night in Thousand Maws. The healer (who looked to be in either CT or Allagan gear, I don't quite remember since I only saw him in the load-in cutscene) immediately disconnected as soon as we started. Clearly, only there for the quick tomes and didn't care about the group.

Joke's on him though, our summoner was awesome at keeping us alive, and we 3-manned the dungeon.

My main class is tank. I don't get why these others tanks have to give the good ones a bad name. There has only been ONE dungeon I dropped out of...when I was on a DPS, because of idiot party members. However, as a tank, I stay in it. I know many of the DPS have to wait forever (I always do on my Arcanist or Dragoon), and it's not fair to them to have to wait. There are some dungeons I dislike with a passion, but I still run them, because, well, everyone needed it at the time. Try not to forget about us good tanks, we are out there.

I'd prefer you just get your choice of the "roulette". It's still just one bonus per category per day (call them "bonus" dungeons instead, if you like). This gives incentive to participate in all levels of dungeons, and without the problem of people dropping from instances they dislike. I would split the "low" level into 2 though, about 1-31 low, 31-49 medium, something in that ballpark.

Now, without the "roulette" part, you have a very easy way to stop people leaving. If you leave a "bonus dungeon", no more bonuses for you that day. Disconnections need to log back in within a set time, or take the penalty. If you choose to do a bonus dungeon, you cannot initiate, or vote on a kick.

Will people game this, and will some dungeons be more popular than others? Of course. Fact is, the tanks/healers are already making a choice by leaving before the instance even starts, some are kicking the low level players who are the people they are being "rewarded" for helping, already dungeons are being favoured over others. However it should mean far more instances (no matter how long you waited for it) end up completed the first time.

During the last week I used DF a lot instead of going with my FC. Last time I used it more frequently was weeks ago and I was quite shocked to notice the fleeing trend of popular classes. It seems tanks and also healers leave for the smallest to no reason or directly aim for quick tomes by aborting any dungeon where they start at the beginning. This is anti social and egoistic. I don't want a Game to spy out their players but SE maybe should look deeper into monitoring aborting behaviour.

I have exited Halatali HM a few days ago as tank after Duty Roulette has put me there ALL THE TIME, EVERY DAY, EVER SINCE PATCH 2.2

I explained that, apologized and left.

The blame should go towards Square Enix crappy RNG algorithms and whatnot, not towards the tanks who are getting the same freaking dungeon through roulette ALL THE TIME.


Now I got Brayflox HM twice and Lost City once.

I can do Halatali HM again now, as long as it doesn't start popping everyday again.

If it does, I will exit it to break the trend.




On a side note, I NEVER EVER exited Pharos Sirius. (I like this dungeon very much)
But I've seen countless DPS and healers exiting it as soon as it started.

Some people just do dungeon-fishing. Every atma book require you to finish 3 dungeons (kill last boss etc.) with your relic weapon.
So instead of queuing into low-level dungeon on lvl 50 char, they go into DR trying to kill two birds with one stone. Wrong dungeon? Quit, repeat.
Even with 30 min penalty it's ok, you still can kill mobs / wait for book FATEs while waiting.

I main war, but sometimes do Roulettes as alts for fun. Yesterday in brayflox hm i witnessed a different war sit down and pout, and Sh!t talk because the blm and whm were undergeared according to him. THe funny part was that his gear was very sub par as far as Bis for even 2.1 standards. He waited until we vote dismissed him. This just gives tanks a bad name.

I've been doing low level roulette to level different classes - first WHM, now MNK. It seems like as soon as I hit level 38, the only dungeon I'm able to get on roulette is Cutter's Cry. I hate that place. So the last time I did a roulette, I said to my friends that if Cutter's Cry came up, I would leave immediately. It was, so I apologized to the group and left. I did end up taking the 30 minute penalty, though. Playing on a PS3 means that my load times are super slow, even with skipping cutscenes, so if there is a way to leave at the start and not get the penalty, I missed my window.

Report them for what? Leaving a duty is not against the rules, even if it's done immediately after zoning in. It's inconvenient for the other players, absolutely, but it's not actionable behavior. You're just wasting GM time and making support queues even longer than they already are.

The game already has a built-in penalty for doing this sort of thing, it's called the 30-minute leaver cooldown.

30 min obv. not enough , reporting for harassement , no excuse for drop & frustating other ppl's lol

I often leave during titan hm when I get it on trials roulette. I really did give everyone a chance though. For several days I went in with a positive attitude thinking it's old content and everyone can do it now. What with the echo buff and all, it should be cake for everyone else. I ended up spending an hour + each time I was there because people still can't dodge and people keep saying "let's keep going until we have the full echo buff." Oh how that makes me cringe. . . Every titan hm experience I can say with full confidence, was exactly the same, so now I don't even bother if I get it in roulette.

How did they harass you? They inconvenienced you, sure, but they did nothing to harass you. If before leaving they said, "eww, Pharos again, screw this dungeon and screw you guys, have fun looking for another tank!" then sure, you might have a case.

But otherwise, for all you know an emergency could have come up and they simply had to leave immediately. You have no way of knowing what the reason was, and neither does the GM, so the person will not get banned and you are still wasting GM time.

Yes, its a different issue from getting kicked by a group of players than if somebody leaves on his own. There can always be the excuse made that it was an emergency and he had to go with no way to disprove it otherwise. Instead of reporting them we should keep talking about it on forums and such, and have the game itself find a way to handle with these players.

Leave at the very beginning of a dungeon? There goes the rewards for your Low level, High Level, Expert, Trial and Story Roulettes.

Might sound harsh. But I loathe those who quit straight away.
If you don't want to get a dungeon you don't enjoy, then don't go on the Roulette. Simple.

Too harsh IMO. More like you lose the bonus for that roulette, and if you left in under 5 minutes, you have a 1 and a half hour penalty for the DF. If under 15 minutes, a 1 hour penalty. Anything over 15 minutes is the normal penalty. It'd stop that really quickly. Also, I'd like if they made it so getting kicked due to harassment leads to a 30 minute penalty, but that's a different bag.

Unfortunately you can't put punishments like that in. I 90k loading into an instance so I lose my roulettes? Some dickheads vote kick me because I'm not the class they were hoping DF would give them so I get a 30 min lockout? They don't want to penalize innocent people.
