Levi ex on ps3? Doable?

So i noticed that the ps3 can only zoom out oh so far...
Like wtf the pc ver and ps4 ver i think can zoom out almost twice as much.
I'm pretty sure it's not cuz of ps3 limitations lol.
Back on topic, dodging the wave charge attacks is almost next to impossible as you can barely see the water/ pre charge water splashes with the cam zoomed out to the max.
I tried to hug the side of the platform so i could see the water but nope bad idea as levi decides to go horizontal lol.
And from what i learned in titan ex, if u r not moving out of the aoe before the cast finishes your hit/ dead.
So when the charg aoe appears under me i go q-q how can i dodge what i literally can't see..

Yes it's possible because the dives are not that random, they always come from the general direction where Leviathan was standing and then from the other side where he charged to. You simply need to keep trying and you'll eventually get it right.

I know one ps3 player that did it. All others failed, often hard.

It is possible. But as for most things, perhaps even more so, it requires much more effort from the ps3 player than it would require from a pc player; hence why so few of them will be able to do it.

Uhm, our Fc has most of players on ps3 and we are able to farm it...so... uhm ò.ò

lol im ps3 and have levi on farm and do sales for it so i guess it is possible. Just gottah put in some time and u'll figure out how to dodge it

Ah, the "handicap" myth still going strong I see 9_9.

As I say in all of these topics, there is no content that can't be cleared to the same standard as someone using a PC. Plus Leviathan's hardly a fight fit to judge people as such anyway, countless people mess up the dives when they start out, it's not something that videos help much with - you kind of have to experience it for yourself a few times. I've seen many other PC players "fail, often hard", at Leviathan I guess both formats suck.

The camera zoom level isn't any different, and you're not supposed to be able to see the whole ship anyway (that'd be too easy :P)

PS3 has its flaws, no doubt, but the ability to clear content isn't one of them.

I started doing 2.2 on the ps3 and have now switched to the PS4 the camera zoom is in fact different. With that being said, the fight is really not any harder on any platform we downed him fairly fast with 5/8 of us on a PS3 its now just become an excuse people use when they can't react or dodge.

Oh fair enough, odd that it'd be different. But all the same, as long as you know where to look it's not like it's any harder :)

The zoom might be related to resolution. Please check it.

A myth ? I have yet to see an amazing player on ps3. I saw several that are good, but none amazing. All those that tested the ps4 said there was a world of difference; same for those that tested on PC. The myth is to think there is no handicap. Keep living in your buble. On any kind of serious encounter, ps3 is a handicap. It does not mean all of the ps3 players are bad, but those that are good have to be amazing overall, and ps3 harms their potential.

What differences? Frame-rate? Screenshot quality? Seeing more people when afk in Mor Dhona? Load screen being 5 seconds longer which is irrelevant once you're in the instance anyway? :P
What exactly is stopping them from being amazing? _IF_ fewer PS3 players are amazing it's likely because most don't come from an MMO background, nothing to do with the format itself hindering their ability to clear stuff.

IT is do-able on ps3 my in game friend has been farming it on balmung on ps3. But he lives close to the server, issue others have been having is delay from the dashes/charges, thats about the only thing you have to worry about. But dont worry its the same issue to some PC users.

Thats the only downside to random patterns your screwed if you have a hint of delay & back luck with camera view. If it was predetermined like the other fights wouldnt be an issue.

-Things appear later on ps3 than on a serious pc or ps4. You thus get less time to react to things (plumes, landslide, dives, dashes).

Most of those you can compensate for. But that's the thing. You "compensate" for it, aka you have a disadvantage you have to overcome by being better than others to achieve a similar result.

Edit: i play on PC most of the time, and sometime during week end i am not at my usual place and play on PS3. The difference is night and day. Given, i am bad with a controller anyway -- but all those other things i listed are not just small details, they are meaningful differences you need to compensate for. There is no way i would be able to play as well on ps3 as i do on pc, no matter the time i use to learn.

Edit2: I am well aware you can use a SSD to compensate for 1, put some thought into your UI to compensate for 2, use a M+KB to suppress 3, and then with a good connection be mostly fine regarding 4. But first of all, you may still have occasional lag issue, so be at a disadvantage, second of all, that's a lot of work to, as i said, "compensate", and third, i have yet to find a ps3 players running with a SSD, an optimized UI and a M+KB. The "vanilla" ps3 player is simply at a huge handicap compared to the "vanilla" PC player.

I farmed Levi EX on the PS3 until I switched to the PS4 on Friday. Had no issues caused by hardware. Also had no issues on Titan EX or Turn 5 (even cleared Turn 6 on the PS3)

Nothing special about my PS3, except that it may need a good dusting. And my fiends love to joke about my terribad internet.

Its all about knowing the fight and knowing how to react to it.

I cleared Levi X and Titan X on PS3, but it was HELLA easier to do on PS4 for me. I had it loaded up with almost all of this memory, etc. I'm pretty ignorant with that kind of stuff, but there is a DEFINITE difference, at least for me, between PS4 and PS3. It is dramatic and it is real. Maybe not for some people, but for others there is a big difference.

I never said there wasn't a difference. Yes, the PS4 version IS better. But, it doesn't mean its impossible on the PS3. Not at all. You can do everything on the PS3 (only things I haven't done on it are Turns 8 and 9, and well, most people are no where near that so I don't really care)

I started farming it on PS3 and had no problems. I switched to PS4 this weekend and I cannot go back because the improved FPS is glorious, but you definitely are not at a huge disadvantage on the PS3. Something that I keep seeing when playing with people sometimes is the "I'm on PS3" excuse whenever they cannot do something, and it honestly bothers me because it gives PS3 players a bad name overall and you're blaming hardware for your own shortcomings. There is no single fight on the PS3 that you cannot do. The increased PS4 resolution as well as FPS is a wonderful luxury, but it is not by any means a necessary factor.

As for the controller argument, I find that this is more of a preference thing. In certain games, likeFPS games, M+KB is objectively better, but not here. I myself find the controller layout much more comfortable and having all my skills in a nice tight hotbar and all a short button press away from my fingers is better (again, this is an opinion). I have never run out of room between my two hotbars and tapping R1 to toggle between them becomes second nature very fast. I have tanked and set number markers and have never felt uncomfortable cycling with the D-Pad.

Where did i say it is not doable ? I said you were at a disadvantage that you would have to compensate for.

Every fight in the game is doable by a PS3 user. But for most challenging encounters, its a hell of a lot easier on PC, or even PS4.

Like most things, it's a matter of getting used to your limitations. Does that mean you have to work harder than those who don't have such a handicap (like PC users)? Probably, but that's kind of the point when you have a limitation in place. Once you get used to it, you can work around it to prepare for things.

I play PS3 and have killed Leviathan Extreme well over 20 times.

lol for my 2 cents worth. The difference for me between pS4 and ps3 is night and day.

Incredible how
- no longer wait 2-5 seconds for NPCs to load.
- Places actually look full
- game detail and enemies look so much better
- characters actually move rather than float across the screen or warp
- on and now I can just REACT to what on screen rather than pre emp all the time (which was not fun for me)
- i can target adds now quicker rather than wait for them to show up...or in some fates actually see the enemies

If you love the ps3 and using it and and clear all content good for you. For me the PS4 gives me better game enjoyment and i hated having to pre emp moves. that is not what a fight should be to me.

We have about 4 PS3 players in our FC and they didnt have problems to dodge them.Was hard at first but it went perfectl ye when they got used to it.

I'm just asking about how the hell do you move tge camera so that you can see the initial water splashes that leviathan makes before he rushes.
I just need advice on how to use the camera the right way in that fight as i know i'm doing something wrong as other ps3 users have beaten him a lot already.

Exactly this. Everytime a PS3 player fails it's like "zomg my ps3 makes me suck." I play on PS3 and farm it. Is it harder on PS3? Probably. But it's far from the impossible task OP is making it out to be.

ps3 player here. i had to do a few things to help learn/beat levi x.
1. turn camera speed up to 100% so i can 360 look at the map quicker.
2. turn off bgm so i could hear where the splashes were coming from better. unfortunately, time and time again i would have delays with the splash animation but could hear their general direction just fine.
3. learn the pattern.
4. i start from the center so my dodging movement is minimal. also i pull the camera back all the way but set it at about 45 degrees behind me so that i can see 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock and listen for the splash behind me and react.
5. lastly i use sprint a lot as a just in case.

Unless he does a side charge, he will charge from the direction he was in before he dived (Ex. if he was on the North side of the boat, after he dives, he will go N to S, then S to N), so don't move the camera initially. After you dodge the first dash, turn the camera to where he dived, and dodge the second. The side dashes are a bit trickier and all I can recommend for those is to be watchful.

For the body slams, just put your camera to one direction. If you don't see the spout, wait for the noise and run to the side of the boat where you didn't see the spout. Hope that helped!

Sorry but it's a fair bit easier then that, you haven't grasped Levi ex enough

PS3 users have a steeper learning curve, but all mediums reach the same point no matter if it's a low end pc, ps3, or ps4. Levi Ex isn't like Titan Ex where lag destroys people.

There is enough cues and time in Levi Ex that the way to do it on ps3 is the same as a PC. The difference is until you learn it, those fumbling around hurts ps3 users more then PC.

Levi Ex relies on both audio and graphical cues, as well as experience.

1:Pre-bubble dives are always front then back. Any idiot has enough time to move their camera properly for those cues. (Point your camera at levi, then 180)
2: Body slams always happen west at start, then you can rely on audio cues.
3: Cross dives are beaten with audio cues. The "splash" sound will tell a player

Audio cues is the 2nd skill you learn and should be learning for future events. For instance if you point your camera at levi, waiting for a slash, but you hear a splash behind you, then by process of elimination, you know it's a cross dive, and the middle or back isn't safe, so run towards the front.

If you hear an audio cue in front, but it's not left or right, then again process of elimination, it's a cross dash on your side, and you move to the rear.

levi EX will never ever start with a rear dive, so there is never a need to rely on camera speed that exceeds the ps3. You are given more then enough time between dives to setup your your next dodge.

most of my wipes were DPS being slow rather than avoiding

You can't rely entirely on the camera. You need to watch where other party members are moving. Especially for body slams.

Screw the zoom, surround sound is where it's at for Levi. You can quite literally hear where the dives are coming from before you see them.

It's not a tough fight.

The only thing that used to be really really hard on PS3 was Twintania divebombs, but after patches even that's not so bad.

Install a solid state drive in a ps3 and all problems are solved. I play on ps3 and can handle any fight just fine.

As someone that was one of the first on my server to clear it, I can tell you it is perfectly capable of being done on ps3. (This coming from a ps3 player) If you are having trouble wondering which side his slams will come from remember this easy tip;

After p1 he will slam down on the left side of the ship. From this point on he will ALWAYS alternate which side he slams down on. For example say he slammed down on the NW corner after p1, when he submerges for his dives & slam, his next slam will always be on the right side of the ship on the NE or SE side. ( the ps3 camera is plenty capable of looking at a whole side).

If i follow ppl i'll most likely be to slow.
In titan ex most ppl on my screen look like they got hit but they dodged at the same time i did.
So of course i won't follow them as i would appear on their screens doing nothing till 1/2 secs later.

I heard the sound thingy mentioned a few times before, does it actually work better than the other said methods?
But my tv only has stereo sound setting so i can't put it on surround sound lol Xc
But on my first levi run my game crashed lol during the spumes XD

i do follow ppl too if i missed to see the water ( happen rarely but still happen ) you got like 5 secs to move by the time you see the water its more than enough time to move if you are in middle

even in stereo you can hear it. After all you are combining visual with audio.

Again, if you hear a splash and you don't see it, it's a process of elimination.
Again ex: Levi will always do a splash the side he is fought from, never from the rear If you do not see it on your camera, then the process of elimination the splash is cross dive behind you and front is safe.

Th trick is being able to multi task enough and avoid plumes while you are making that judgement.
