New LvL 30 SMN: Need Macro advice.

I currently am using;

/ac "Bio II"
/wait 2.5
/ac "Miasma"
/wait 2.5
/ac "Bio"


For DPS/EMN

/ac "Raging Strikes"
/recast "Quelling Strikes"

New to Smn, and need a good rotation, plus what cross skills should I throw in, and of course which skill should I macro, and which should I avoid macro'ing that might make the job worse on DPS..?

please refer to the thread "smn pushing dps" they speak about rotations there, and cover them well.

as a lvl 30, your focus should be reaching lvl 50. not rotations.

don't use macro's for offensive spells.

SMN doesn't have a rotation and you do not want to use any macros for damage dealing.

The only macros I use are some swiftcast summoning, swiftcast shadowflare, Virus with notification on the enemy I used it on and <tt> eye for an eye also with notification. Macros are too unreliable for damage skills, and they don't wait 2.5 but round up to the nearest second.

I agree with Tayo, level your summoner without macros to get an understanding of different attack combinations. However if you are going to use a macro, try this one.

To apply it you will need, Archer level 4, Thaumaturge level 26.

Do not macro several DD skills together. Because of how the dots durations are, you often don't apply them the same way every time, so every skill has to be on your bar anyway. A macro just waste space, and inspires lazy behavior.

The only macros you should be using (Concerning Summoner skills) are basically your support skills (And maybe Swiftcast Shadow Flare, though I personally wouldn't suggest it. But that's mostly because I sacrifice a smidgen of dps for the ability to help the healers out.).

Personally, I have Eye for an Eye <tt>, Eye for an Eye <tt> + Virus, and Swiftcast + Resurrection.

Legionne I question why you have 2.5s waits between off-GCD moves back to back, especially raging strikes.

Because your next ability won't trigger until the animation of your first ability is done and 2.5 seconds is the minimum time requirement to link two commands together. I personally have not found a way around this.

honestly i think it's the worst way to play SMN creating macros for DOTs, you don't really need them.
Just use them and Contagion.
The only Macros I use are Spur+Rouse and Eye For An Eye <tt>

One second is the minimum with macros. Go do a rouse/spur/enkindle with 1 second waits, or swiftcast/summon macro with 1 second wait.

I only run text macros, and right now I only have Virus and the Resurrection on there, to let others know that I've used the ability. Going to add the <tt> for the Eye for An Eye as it would be useful and I should be using it more.

All other skills are bound to my hot bar (including pet skills, with the exception of the auto attack), or are within clicking distance.

I've tried the swiftcast Shadowflare macro, but found that it took too too long, plus there was a delay if I wanted to hard cast it.

Just my personal opinion.

I don't use macro's. I only created this one for the sake of the OP. I didn't test the wait times when I had initially posted it. You're right, with instant cast's you can trigger them at 1.0 seconds. But you can also trigger some abilities that respect the cool down as low as 1.0 seconds too provided that it doesn't interfere with the animation timer.
