yes especially the chained connection you get from getting the premium service. It cancels out a lot of the ping spikes FFXIV gets which makes it incredibly easy to dodge AoE's in Extreme Modes, theres no longer a delay when it comes to that. Everything just reacts quicker and better, even popping your off GCD skills dont take 5 key presses anymore, and it also helps for melee pvp.
I've been using the basic sub, but will probably up that to premium here in a month. It reduces the lag considerably.
I'm currently subscribed with them. Till Verizon does something with Level3 and dropped packets I need to use this VPN to get around the overloaded/bad routing Verizon is doing to connect to Canada's servers.
ah cool, thx guys will check it out for sure
Yes, it is fantastic. I typically see 30%~+ improvements from the premium subscription (which is extremely cheap).
Mines also 30-40%, 13% overall.
Tried chained & normal, normal claims better results, but chained (mid way server from me & midway server from FFXIV servers) i could run through 2 titan plumes that slightly overlapped which i couldnt do on battleping.
both ways i can now dodge Mudpuppy "Bog Bombs" which are a quick cast attack. so thats also an improvement. Altho PC normal connection is was impossible, PS4 normal connection i could, battle ping most times i could. WTFast its everytime.
i just tried it after seeing this post. For New Zealand connecting to NA servers its noticeably better than Battleping.
(altho that said battleping used to be this good until a few months ago so if whatever the issue is gets fixed they will be the same)
I use WTFast Advanced to play from South America, without it the game is unplayable in dungeons for me. You can try the 30 days trial and see if it gives you any improvement. I was using Battleping a few months ago but they started to have issues with their servers so i asked for a refund.
how do I check my ping to ffxiv servers? I play on Cactuar if this help.
- Open task manager (ctrl+shift+escape, or right click on task bar then "Start Task Manager")
- Go to the "Performance" tab and click on "Resource Manager"
- Go to the "Network" tab, then click on "TCP connections"
- Locate your FFXIV game file (can't remember the exact name atm), should be 2, one is client, one is game
- Look at the right end of the list, you should see "Latency (ms)", that's your ping
for the guys using advanced version of this, just wondering what port do u use for optimum connection?
Leatrix http://http://www.wowinterface.com/d...atencyFix.html It's free and it works, and for the technically minded, it's just a change in the registry.
There's some sort of underground cable problem with the ISP here in my country, and the only way I can play is by using WTFast, so ye. I'm pretty much sure that it's working, and yes, it works perfectly.
We tested this out with Battleping rather than WTFast, but found that the reduction in ping that you see in Resource Monitor is because you're now getting a ping response from the local VPN endpoint rather than the game server, making it meaningless. Assuming WTFast works the same way, which it probably does, the reduction is likely to be significantly overrated by this method, and given that FFXIV doesn't report ping itself, it's rather difficult to confirm anything.
This fix only works if your TCK e.t.c. is causing your connection issue usually to do with O/S settings e.t.c. . BAH not even going to explain it properly.
Here the dumbed down version: basicly if your close to server It works, if your far away no difference using this.
Yip the displayed Ping results as the programme says are a estimate. But the fact is you can dodge using the programme, you cant without it. Therefore it works IF you pick the right server location. you can make it worse if you dont pick the right one.
I was using it until it stopped working for some reason, tried reinstalling etc and couldn't get it to launch so switched to Battleping instead.
I have noticed a decent change in latency on Titan EX, Europe here for what its worth.
EU players should get a discount on the subscription seeing as we have to put up with shitty overseas connections.
I tried the 30 day trial, it was good. But I went with pingzapper.
Anyone know of a fix when WTFast says that a connection problem may exist? It launches the game launch, i log in, and can move around ingame, but nothing shows up on the WTFast window for any active connections.
data usually shows up after 5 min or so, but I've never seen any connection problem messages.
I get NA result for Ping Average and 10 Sec Ping and keeps telling me to optimize my settings. I've tried every combination of port, 1 or 2 server choice but still same thing
Has anyone tried both the WTFast premium service and pingzapper? Is the premium service worth it? That monthly fee is kinda scary when you've also got to pay for FF.
On Verizon, bad route to Canada like everyone else on the East Coast. Been using Battleping, works great - interface certainly isn't as fancy as WTFast.
Would be curious to hear any comparisons between WTFast/Battleping/Pingzapper if anyone's tried a few or all 3.
Will this service work with PS4 or PC only?
I wanna stop using WTFast but i cant Log in to FFXIV ARR without using WTFast !
i get error "2002" (The lobby server connection has encountered an error )
does anyone know how fix this ?? please :(
I play from Australia. My server is Zalera, in Canada. I live 11,000 miles from the server. Titan HM is unplayable. I have determined that my ISP is using traffic shaping because it's throttling game traffic as I think they're classifying it as P2P traffic. Calls to my ISP are met with dumb responses. In short, they refuse to do anything about it and play dumb. I now use WTFast
In MY experience:
No proxy acceleration => Titan HM meant knowing the fight, and pre-dodging while standing away from others, to avoid getting hit. Garuda Ex doable, but will die 50% of the time on Spiny bubble, despite standing inside it for >2s on own screen.
OPenVPN => No improvement over no proxy
Battleping => Minor improvement over no proxy. Cannot react-play, still need to pre-dodge. Garuda Ex spiny lag will only see me die 20% of the time
WTFast Trial/Basic => Able to dodge Titan HM WoL at will. Extreme Primals (Titan) will get hit by plumes when stacking maybe 10% of the time
WTFast Premium chaining from Australian WTFServer to Montreal on the default port => Able to react-dodge Titan XM WoL when stacking 99% of the time IF I move instantly, ANY hesitation at all means death
For me, at my distance (11,000 miles) and with my ISP doing traffic shaping, WTFast Premium has turned this game from being a 6 month long period of frustration at not being able to do any of the end-game content due to being the weakest link, into being one of the better players who is able to dodge and very often the last man standing on party wipes 'cos I dodge everything.
Your mileage may vary, but for me, chained WTFast Premium made this game playable/enjoyable again.
Oh, and on Leatrix latency fix, all that's basically doing is disabling the default system-wide TCP Nagle algorithm in the TCP Network Stack on your PC. That is rarely the issue for most anyone unless you're living in the same state as the server farm and already have exceptionally low ping times. Nagle can add anything from 0-200ms to your network latency to a game server, but Nagling can be turned off by the game's network code when the connection is established. If your latency to the game server is already at >1000ms, chances are, this is NOT your issue, and system-wide Nagle disabling can actually increase global internet congestion.
WTFast will disable Nagle on your game connection only. Your other internet connections (eg. browsing, Youtube, peer to peer) will still be Nagled (and should be).
please you can you tell me how to fix it in english ? i used to play normally without WTFast, but i've been using it for 3 months now, and i wanna stop using it, i cant log in into the game, whenever i try to login without WTfast its give me the 2002 error .. Help !! :(
Im getting this same problem now, with the last 2 days of 90k's, i started using WTFast trial version, tried not using today, now I get 2002 lobby errors. However, I can still log in if i use WTFast, did the program do something to my PC?
Im still seeking an answer to that question :/
Yeah I am using it on the Premium version, and since it works with a lot of online games, I feel its worth the subscription as it makes things noticeable better with less lagspikes etc. Still, would love to see Square Enix set up a server hub in Europe. But I know that server hubs are very expensive, and all server hardware is custombuilt and such.
Old topic but what is better. Using a WTFast server in Montreal or one near you?
Those who did not want to pay anything for these, WTFast's newest update just changed their free 30 day trial to unlimited free. Still works as well as it did when it was 30 days, no autodisconnects or anything, paid is just even faster.
I have no problem logging without WTFast. I started using it when the 90k dilemma started in December (I think) and been using it ever since.
I'm in Germany and it's DEFINITELY worth it (using basic sub though, Premium on 2 PCs is too pricey for me)
