Any confirmed reason as to WHY Myth is how it is atm?

Gone are the days of Philosophy, and Mythology has stepped up to take its place! Why are the rates so low? We used to get philo for all bosses, and Myth for the completion of the dungeon. At least, to me, that was how it seemed.

Soldiery is supposed to be better than Myth, yes?

So, how is it that for 1 run of the Expert level dungeons awards 50 Myth and 45 Soldiery?

If it was 50 Myth and 25 Soldiery, I could understand it. However, doesn't the fact that the both of them are so close, with a maximum weekly cap on one of them, seemingly devalue the soldiery tomes?

Add to this the fact that there was no reduction in gear prices pertaining tomestones of Mythology, and even the introduction of Animus Grinding, forcing someone to farm 13,500 Myth Tomes in order to acquire.... an... Item level... 100? Upgrade?

I'm sorry, but what? Has there been any clarification on the WHY from developers that the current 2.2 generation of tomes are gated this hard?

Sure, I am going to farm for the Animus regardless. God wills it, but I'm literally doing it for glamour. Leviathan EX is an EX Joke, easier than ANY of the other EX Primals, and oh look... Ilvl 100 easily farmable things... I just don't understand the severe amount of gear gating going on here, if anything, Myth is the one thing that shouldn't be gated this hard.

Don't even get me started on the "first 2 bosses of Brayflox HM lol" shenanigans.

The more I play this patch, the more confused I am. Having a ton of fun, just... confused and looking for some insight :P

They'll definitely ease up on myth drops eventually. They are being uptight with it now because of the relic animus thing.

It's the way of SE to introduce things as a ridiculous grind at first and ease up on them later on.

Because philo stones were too available and ppl could gear way too quickly. They want ppl to take their time and not just burn through everything.

Look at philo, you could literally reach your 2k cap in hrs. I spent most of mine buying/selling synthing mats because I had absolutely nothing to spend them on.

Plus with the zodiac quests absorbing all of our myth it makes it so we do other content for gear instead of falling back on tomes gear. If you look at it in retrospect even the most casual can get at least 1 zodiac weapon done before 2.3 as well as get enough soldiery gear to make them viable in high lvl dungeons.

Not to mention a slew of new players coming with ps4, it makes it so we do our dailies, thereby helping new players get through low lvl and storyline dungeons. It makes sense if you think about it and without a cap or lockout timers theres no real block outside the small numbers.

I mean do you really need to finish a zodiac weapon in a few days? The ease of getting a relic is already too much, its just SE slowing us down and making us pace ourselves without making it overly difficult.

Hi, myth tomes are easier to obtain now than before, and have no weekly cap. Fresh level 50 players can gear up easier, because of no CT loot limit and no myth cap. They can also obtain soldiery tomes when a bit more geared.

The problem is the huge amount of myth tomes needed for the animus upgrade, not the difficulty to obtain myth tomes. And you need them after doing a huge number of fates with a random atma drop. It's a way to avoid people doing everything available and obtaining every item available too soon, before the new content is ready.

People wanted more open world content: they have it now, a ton of fates if you want the atma.

The noct upgrades are also quite difficult.

I agree it gives more appeal to trying to obtain upgrades in other places than the relic upgrade. People will want the relic upgrade anyway eventually because in the future it seems there will be more upgrades. In the meantime if they want a better weapon they might have it quicker in other places. Coil does not have the weekly limit, drops there are not as extra difficult to obtain as they were. Extremes will be easier with higher gear too, and more exp people to meet.

each dungeon dive less but we have more daily roulette so by doing a bit of roulette every day you cap your soldiery and get your myth
I think it is enough, apart from bahamut, could drop more myth i think...

Coil gives less tomes than before but there is no weekly limit. As it takes less time than a dungeon it's not that bad, you can repeat if you want and the time/tome ratio may not be so bad.

Maybe they learned from the fact that darklight was so easily attained that nobody gave a damn about it? Players should not go i50 to i90 in a day. By keeping myths lower Coil 1 is still relevent.

yeah I don't think there's a problem at all. they took the cap off of myth but didn't want to make it TOO easy and TOO fast for people to get full i90. shout out to all those people who didn't want their "accomplishments" to be "obsolete" too quickly. As someone else said, the soldiery tomes cap and current awards are set to where you can run your dr once a day and hit your cap by weeks end. makes perfect sense to me.

I think this will be a big deal in the near future. With 30% echo buffs up, I can see coil speed runs for tomes being a common thing.

Suuuuuuuure. Easily farmable i100. Unlike doing fates and brayflox, right?

Anyway, they simply want us to take longer to gear up. And with so many myth being dumped into an NPC, their value should stay higher for a longer time than philo did.

Levi EX is easy. Fast. And doesn't require prep work. And for half, if not more than half, of the classes in the game it is a better upgrade than the animus. I like that the animus takes so much myth. What I dislike is how undervalued soldiery is because of it.

The best option for farming myth is to do Brayflox boss 1 and 2 with heavy aoe damage dealers. A close (ish) second could be turn 4. The reason for this problem is the lack of myth from the final boss.

Old Hauke Manor HM - Top Tier Hard Mode of 2.1 - 20/0 -> 30/0 -> 50/50 Philo/Myth Correct?
Brayflox HM - Top Tier Hard Mode of 2.2 - 20/0 -> 30/0 -> 0/45 Myth/Soldiery Correct?

With this formula, you can see that Soldiery stands at nearly the same value in 2.2 as did myth in 2.1
Why then, with the removal of Philosophy tomes as an acquirable item, does the myth drop rate remain the same?

I am not saying the current myth ratio's are incorrect, what I am saying is that if the current myth ratios ARE correct, the soldiery ratios are NOT. They are FAR TOO HIGH.

Also, the problem of 2 boss brayfloxing needs to be FIXED by redistributing the myth tome drops of all dungeons to include the last boss as a source of myth and not just soldiery.

Suggestion: Instead of Brayflox HM - Top Tier Hard Mode of 2.2 - 20/0 -> 30/0 -> 0/45 Myth/Soldiery Change to
Brayflox HM - Top Tier Hard Mode of 2.2 - 10/0 -> 15/0 -> 25/25 Myth/Soldiery

I've got to say it's a real bummer trying to get groups for Brayflox as a monk, almost everyone wants nothing but BLM and SMN. I wouldn't mind the change if I didn't essentially have to level a second class to have access to the most preferred and fastest way of farming Myth. This is really more of an issue with the dungeon being too easy than anything else.

I've just resigned to getting my Animus a little slower, maybe if a few other people in my guild get their Atma I can ride their coattails for fast Myth.

edit: Not to go too far off topic but is Haukke Manor still the 100 Myth? Maybe I should just keep DFing that.

No. Things that gave 100 Philosophy do not give as much Myth.

I actually think soldiery is a little too easily available. I've had bad luck with FCs, and bascially PuGd everything upto Titan HM. My FC got me Titan HM and good attempts at Garuda Ex, and attempts at coil t1... and then fell apart. I have no FC atm, but I've been running expert DF. I'm perfectly fine there at ilv 83, with some vanya gear, eventhough I have over 1k soldiery and haven't spent any. Gear isn't holding my progress back, loack of a FC, or decent PuGs in DF are.

I tihnk DF has been bad for the community (which has made it hard to find a decent FC). And easy availablity of gear has only put omre emphasis on the need for a decent FC. Honestly, the only thing ruining this game for me is the players.

I agree, they need to lower soldiery tome drops. I have not started the new relic weapons so I can't really say if the current myth drop is enough, though I do understand that the new relic is SUPPOSE to be a long process and not for those who expect handouts. As far as myth for crafting material is concern, its fine the way it is, increasing myth drop could ruin the market. Also, increasing myth drop will also mean that people will run out of things to do much faster. Even if you find myth grinding tedious, many people still log on to do it; I see myth parties in PF all the time. Once you run out of things to do though, you just won't log on anymore.

Yeah, now that i have completed my animus there is no real worth in myth anymore. I can get some crafting items i guess and lvl a crafter, which doesnt actually do anything for your battleclass. Or i can buy myth mats and sell them for gil i really dont need anymore now that everything i do gives me about 6k bonus gil. Obviously for me the soldiery now have way more worth, so it depends on where you're at in the game. However these also get capped in brayfloxes, by doing 10 speedruns on reset day.

They did not seem to fix or change much compared to 2.1. Tbh, its good that speedrun dungeons exist for those that want the extra speed in return for more boring. Others can do it at a more leisurably pace. But for some reason i feel even less inclined to do roulette as a tank these days. The bonus myth has been pointless compared to just doing another brayflox, there are too many 'hard' dungeons in high lvl roulette now that many people cant handle, expert roulette is actually easier but gives sol tomes i capped days ago, low level dungeons are just too boring and slow after pressing your grand total of 3 buttons for the 300th dungeon leading around people that have no clue whats happening and dont speak. And with gil being thrown around in giant quanities from every little thing that gil bonus has felt totally meaningless. As in 'screw gil, i have plenty, and so does everyone else'.

The only positive so far is the myth tome dump for animus, keeping prices on myth items up. But i was selling philo mats without issue in 2.1 to be fair, sure it didnt sell for as much gil as myth mats do but there was also WAY less gil into the players hands so it somewhat evens out.

You got it wrong here.
Garuda is easy as hell if people can focus a bit

titan is even easier (probably the easiest Ex primal) as soon as noone lag AND know the rotation

Ifrit is... not even worth mentionning. Only way to die is to be with complete beginners OR pushing the enrage (or killing nails too fast for healers, meh)

Leviathan isn't harder nor easier. If you know what to do, it's easy. Else it's a mess and it's a wipe fest.

But well, only the most capable players are past Titan so... ofc it'll be easier (and even so, a lot of players fail horribly at levi Ex...)

Where exactly did I get it wrong? Leviathan is EXTREMELY forgiving. you can't even get knocked off until halfway through, he gives you an insanely high amount of time to dodge, the healing mechanic for the off tank doesnt matter because the tail damage is laughable for a light party trash mob, the entire arena is useable, his patterns are simplistic from start to finish... The only thing he is is a slightly higher gear check. A fight of repetition, to me, is judged as easy when it forgives you for your mistakes. Titan doesn't forgive you for mistakes, nor does Ifrit, Garuda? Meh mechanics wise it's more difficult than Levi. It's also tuned much lower, so that one if a toss up. an on gear level garuda is far harder than an on gear level leviathan.
