FATE "Smells Like Tree Spirit"
Reference to Smells Like Teen Spirit album by Nirvana.

FATE "It's Not Lupus"
Reference to TV show House. Note NM involved is called Cancer, so you may complete the sentence: "It's not lupus, it's cancer!"

ACHIEVEMENT "Gone With The Wind"
Reference to the 1939 film Gone With the Wind directed by Victor Fleming.

FATE "Spandy Badilet"
Reference to synthpop band Spandau Ballet.

FATE "V for Vinedetta"
Reference to the 2005 film V for Vendetta directed by James McTeigue.

Not FF, but still SE related - the main scenario quest title, "Final Flight of the Enterprise", is a reference to Final Flight of the Osiris, a CG film short made by Square's now defunct film studio Square Pictures for the Animatrix anthology.

Also the East Shroud FATE Thunderstruck is a reference to the song of the same name by Australian heavy metal band AC/DC. ;)

Southern Thanalan FATE: Blood, Augur, Hex, Magicks
Reference: RHCP album Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik

Fate in Upper La Noscea called - Nine Ilm Snails. Likely referencing the band Nine Inch Nails.

Acheivement, "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" referencing the song "Bodies"

Quest name, "Ifrit Bleeds we can Kill It" Referencing a line from the movie Predator.

Uh.. like.. everything in this game is a reference.

It would be easier to point things that weren't references. Guess I'm not against this thread, just be prepared to organize every quest, achievement, and npc phrase in the game.

Main Scenario quest in Coerthas titled Notorious BIGS after the late rapper Notorious BIG.

Just remembered another one - there's a FATE in Southern Thanalan near Little Ala Mhigo called 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' - this is a direct reference to the electronic/house song of the same name by Daft Punk (which was famously used in the Leji Matsumoto anime film Interstella 5555 that was an extended video album of Daft Punk's music.) That brought a smile to my face when I saw it. :D

Also the FATE in Eastern La Noscea near Wineport called '9 to 5' is clearly a reference to the 1980's comedy film of the same name (and by extension, the Dolly Parton earworm that was the film's theme song ;)).

There was a levequest in Thanalan in 1.0 called "Get to the copper", a reference to GET TO DA CHOPPA

And there is a level in LL for CUL named "Made by Apple in Coerthas", a reference to "Made by Apple in California" (Apple products)

AAAAND "Quake me up before you O'ghomoro" references "Wake me up before you go go"

Like others have found... npc word bubbles, things like that.

I'm just glad they included the standard Star Wars tribute by making sure Biggs and Wedge are in the game

Odd that you'd think of those as referencing their film adaptations rather than the originals.

Anyway, Biggs and Wedge are my favorites. They're a tribute that Final Fantasy has been using for a long time to reference the Star Wars characters of the same names.

"Curious Gorge Goes to Wineport."

I had a chuckle when I first saw that quest name, especially after he's like "One snicker at the name and I'll rip your head off."

FATE: Full Metal Alchemist

I think Alphinad (sp?) makes a Star Trek reference when he says "Enterprise, engage!" Could be wrong though.
