Alternative to Mirror of the Whorl...

Okay first time posting a thread, but I've downed Leviathan at least 40+ times now and haven't seen the mirror drop once. I know that I'm one of the most unlucky RNG rollers so rolling against 8 others when I do finally see it, I probably will end up not getting getting the highest roll. It'd be nice if every run dropped something that everyone gets, and once you have enough of them, they can be exchanged for a mirror. (I'm talking 100 runs of Leviathan to have enough, nothing too easy). The mirror can still drop (imagine doing 99 runs for it to finally drop xD), but it offers an alternative for those who are just plain unlucky. It'd just feel nice to know I'm actually working towards something, rather than joining a "lottery" duty....

I've run about as many, and I saw the mirror drop once.... and... I rolled a... 2

I've also seen the water pony drop.... and... I rolled a 12...

I do have like every weapon though.... I guess that is a plus right? Unfortunately, I am missing the pally sword, which is one I would actually use for my 2nd most used class, which is also the class I mostly run it on. I do have my bard bow, which I raid as, so i can't complain.

I have about 70 kills myself and 6 weapon already gotten in greed options. Havent seen a single mirror or pony. They definetly need to do something about it. I already saw eespons going nowhere cuz everyone has them.

In 1.0 they had totems that dropped in place/along side of weapons and once you got...8 I think, you could exchange them for a weapon of your choice from that fight. I still have some...anyway, Yoshi stated they don't have plans to provide a use for these totems yet so, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Idk why, but this game is all about RNG. You either get something or you don't. No consolation prizes.

The mirror gives you an i100 weapon. The drop rate therefore needs to be such that the work required is close to that of farming the 2 and a half weeks of soldiery needed for the i100 weathered weps or to complete your i100 relic animus. In 2-3 weeks of on and off farming I'm sure you'll see and win roll on at least 1 mirror. In the meantime you build animus for your main and farm soldiery for a wep for a 3rd class.

Trouble is though that kind of grind can burn people out and result in them quitting, its kind of sad that we are seeing the same mistake they made in 1.0 with primals and RNG all over again.

I agree that it should take time to upgrade the weapon but it goes back to people wanting to see progress and not RNG kicking them in the face repeatedly.

That's the thing, you see actual progress when working on Animus, so only 1 part of the quest is "bad", the rest is exactly what people wanted. As said, this is a new patch, so the drop rate on Leviathan is obviously bad to keep us busy lol.

The alternative is just removing the wave weps and making Levi drop the Tidals. i100 weps for everyone! NO. No one is saying grind Levi every day for 6 hours. Everyone wants everything NOW. No patience whatsoever.

Yeah it's pretty stupid. Levi should drop a "shard of the mirror" with a 10% drop rate, and collect 10 = mirror of the whorl, rather than the current ridiculous 1% or whatever it is.

Quite honestly, I think it's because people were complaining if Leviathan Hard dropped the wave weapons because let's be honest, people wold be crying bloody murder if it did, so chances are they moved the wave weapons to Leviathan extreme alon with the upgrade item, when originally the ex was probably going to be an item farm since for all intents and purposes, Leviathan ex is "optional" at this point when you look at solidary and high allagan.

No the alternative is have Levi drop an item (mirror fragment) for all 8 players, collect 100 and upgrade them that way.

Knowing my luck, this is still faster than farming Atmas personally and even if it happens to take 180 tries, at least I get a bear out of it. ;)

You mean like before 2.2 when no one had anything to do and the servers were ghost towns?

There are very few RNG factors in the game.

this would actually be pretty cool, get the 10 shards, and not just a turn in, but have a decent questline, from Gerolt or something, to get them forged back into the whole mirror.

This makes no sense. Everything in the game that drops loot is RNG based. My FC farmed coil for two weeks and all I saw drop, out of what I could have used to gear up, were brd earrings. And that was only twice out of two months of farming that damn instance. All primal weapon drops are RNG based, all armor out of chests is RNG based. Please, tell me what rewards we get that are not RNG based. Other than quest rewards.

According to most that I've talked to, an average of about 50 runs = 1 mirror. Therefore, the expected amount of runs for a single person if everybody needs each time, which they will, is 50*8=400 runs (assuming all wins, lol, 400*10 minutes=4000 minutes, about 66.7 hours). Obviously you could be more or less lucky than that, but 2-3 weeks of farming soldiery is definitely not even close to 400 runs of leviathan. Even not doing expert roulette, 20 minute hard mode runs => 29*45=1305 soldiery for 580 minutes (about 10 hours), BUT you also need an unidentified allagan tomestone so that makes a big difference and is a big leveling factor. I have also only seen 1 mirror drop after about 50 runs. On the other hand, this will preserve the rarity, and is something to keep us busy.

I still think people are missing the key point on the low rng, its all about alternate ways of gearing up. If the rng of levi us defeating you, you could get your soldiery weapon in 3 weeks worth of tomes. If you can't do coil for the allagan stone, there is your atma, while a long grind, is a guaranteed drop. All three of these items are roughly close in stats

That's 400 runs if you're the 8th person. The average is around 225. Soldiery may be technically faster but you're capped weekly so you can't just hammer out 1300 tomes. You'll easily and comfortably do 225 Levis in 2 and a half weeks if you have it on farm and still cap soldiery and run Coil.

I believe its super rare for a reason given the amount of stuff you have to do to get a ilvl 100 relic.

they should sell it for 9 Rowena Tokens, i'm surprised there's absolutely nothing you can buy with them.

you know, an alternate path doesn't need to give anything immediately. just like how myth had capped and now the soldiery.

Nope, we don't get some of the best gear from getting tomes at all........ The rng is this game is pathetic, try doing coil once a week with an empty chest 90% of the time then start crying, until then keep thinking this game is bad because it took two weeks to get something instead of 1.

Lose the sarcasm; Nobody said the game was bad. Kudos on finding something not based on RNG though.
