A possible solution to the ATMA issue!

I myself do not like the way SE went about implementing atmas in the game as a great portion of the community are not doing other content. Most of my gripes is the fact so many people are concerned with getting atmas that almost noone wants to do other things like dungeons, coil, ex primals etc. So my solution is fairly simple! Please tell me if you agree.

1. Make an alternative way to grind for atmas! This can be done by having atmas drop from more then just fates. Anything from dungeons to primals can be considered. This way noone feels as if they have to put their lives on hold obtaining or waiting for others to obtain 12 atmas.

2. Make it possible to purchase 1 atma once every daily reset period. They can cost seals or myth! This keeps people doing jobs/fates/challenges for seals and also gives more reason to have myth outside of the other 1000 reasons already.

3. Increase the drop rate or make it so that you will get one every 100 fates completed with gold rating. This will give players a sense of progression that they can get one either every 100 or sometime before they reach 100! This keeps people who enjoy grinding happy and helps those of us that would like our work to not be in vain.

any other suggestions? we've complained enough so now let's put our heads togther and come up with solutions that we all can agree with!

Lower drop rate ( to .3%)
Add Lottery Spawn FATES and have Atmas only drop from those lottery spawn FATEs.

Though in all seriousness, I think eventually they will change or add more ways to get Atmas to the system (like when they add the next form in a later patch). I don't really have any suggestions.

Maybe a retainer quick venture could get a random atma you don't have via quick venture (if it's not already possible, seeing how we get random items already).

Edit: With the venture thing. a "quick" venture that takes a week, but guarantees a random atma. That wouldn't feel like progression though.

SE, please do it via timeworn maps & not fate's.

100 is bloody insane if someone is really down on luck.... Drop Rate increase 1% every FATE done for the first 20, the .5% every FATE there after sounds better.

Then again... does the engine/server allows this type of thing?

They could do something like you pay 25000 company seals for a random Atma maybe...

So people will be forced to level a gathering class to 40 (a grind a lot of people will surely complain about), or to buy timeworn maps from gatherers that will charge a ton for them due to the highly increased demand?

Better solution:

1 atma per completed category of challenge log entry.

Do everything possible in the log in 1 week? Grats, you are on books now.

9 weeks of doing everything in the game if you want all 9 zodiac weapons.

Whoa! that's a little steep. I earned about 50k seals over the course of getting my 12. Of course some of those low level fates gave like 5 so if they were higher I'm not sure what I would have earned had they all been level 45+ fates. I don't think 300k seals though. Besides, I was able to use my seals for something useful which made the grinding for ATMA a bit less painful.

I heard another solution from someone in reddit:
Atma cap, either weekly or daily, with a higher drop rate.

And then they complained that fate grinding sucks and that it takes them 2 days for a atma to drop.

I wouldn't mind the lockout, my monk animus sucks, the levi weapon is better then it.
So in my case, I'm not even atma grinding unless I happen to be :
a) doing dailies and near a fate
b) waiting on a Mining node to appear

I got my first atma from a low lvl fate, and I just did it since it was on the way to the Sahagin area.
Tbh, if the relic upgrade sucks, my question is, why are you doing it now, when you got 3 months until the next update?

I guess it is high, but don't forget that by farming myth spamming first two bosses Brayflox you can get 800ish seals for every piece of armor you turn in. That adds up fast and I have collected tons of seals that way.

For starters, there is no need to double post. It's called the edit feature, it lets you go past the 1000 character limit.

As for changing the way atma's drop, no need for that right now. Right now it is meant to be as time consuming as possible. They already stated that later down the road, possibly 2.3, they will make atma farming easier. If you don't like how getting the atma's work, then don't do it, the animus isn't the strongest weapon you can get right now anyway.

you completely missed my point! My point is a large portion of the community is doing nothing but mindlessly grinding for atmas thus ruining the fun of the game! The solution needs to arrive before the next update.

Here is a better idea, use the time you post on forums on fates and get your atma.

1. if they change it to dungeons its gonna take longer with same drop rate.

2. changing it to treasure maps forcing people to level miner same drop rates longer.

3. even if they stick it on titan Hm same drop rate longer.

you want a harder path than what was given the best option.

All the ideas thrown around here are better then what's already in place -_-

Thanks for that useless post, grasshopper. Some of us, however, don't have the inclination to do the gaming equivalent of learning martial arts in the 15th century.

A certain number of FATEs per region would have been acceptable. As long as we know the target we face. Grinds based on luck is NEVER a good idea.

better solution. leave it alone for now and let the people that enjoy the content as it is now alone to enjoy it. in a few patches make it much easier and faster to obtain so everyone keeps access. this is the type of content many of us have asked for and i'm glad it was put in. the only thing i dislike about the whole quest is that it involves low level fates and wish it was only level40 and above.

Okay Hayward what do you expect SE to do just hand you the atma? Cause I really wanna know what the point is to your argument, you grind up on all your jobs I see you have a lot of 50's on Hayward Timberwolf.

Either way Square-Enix does it, they drop rate is gonna be the same thing, you want the drop rate to be higher so that they drop to you easy you don't wanna work for it.

You blast through the game with all your jobs, though when something comes along you cannot blast through you get upset.

Square-Enix do not buckle to their demands keep it the way it is, I got all 12 of my atma just fine in 2 days.

The overall point is that purely luck-based grinds make it so some people are like you and get their Atma weapon in 1-2 days, while others are like myself or Hayward who have yet to get a single Atma weapon after over a week. I'd like to hope the developers aren't as hardheaded as the XI devs were for so many years to attempt to justify such a progression system based merely on luck.

There's an issue with ATMA?

I kinda feel like Atma is the alternative!

You can be skilled or practiced enough to learn Levi EX or Coil for a weapon upgrade.

or... If you're not into Trails and Raids

There is the easy but grindy option. You have a choice... invest focused practice or invest mindless time. If you want both... welp... put in the work... such is life!

My only concern is I'm the type of player to avoid the grind and go for the content gear... But I don't want 16 patches later to find no relevant option for relic and have to go back to square 1 way behind the curve.

There's nothing wrong with Atma. Play the RNG game like you already do with dungeon loot and move on. Stop compaining.

FFXI devs were awesome the game lasted years because of the choices they made, Now I get it you called me a troll because you're a hater.

(Friday Saturday Sunday) or what ever days you have off, you say I have better luck everyone has the same luck, I don't know how you want them to show you progression when it's random. I guess some people have a low attention span.

Wanna know how I did it, I didn't teleport because I thought it would reset progression. I didn't change zones I stuck to fates in a small area, I did a few fates took a break did what ever outside of the game came back did a few more done.

The challenge log is new. The book upgrade system is new and that part of the atma quest line I really like. Sure it's a bit grindy but there's a real feeling of progression as your completing it as the boxes get ticked and your weapon get upgraded. As someone mentioned previously tying the atma's to the challenge log (think of it as proving yourself as an adventurer to be worthy of the items). It would have been a very nice alternative to the lottery we have now.

No you just said that. I am saying if you take the time to grind all those 50 jobs you can grind fates plain and simple.

You leveled all those jobs and probably gotten relic for all those jobs also putting in time and effort whats a little more time and effort in something else. That's all I am saying don't make it into something else.

I was complaining here early on but got my last 5 atmas in like 2 hours.
Guess it was my lucky day.

But I know how it feels to grind for 4h and get nothing. =/


My suggestion is:
If you kill Garuda HM (or EM) without Echo boost, you get one (or two) of the green atmas.
If you kill Titan HM (or EM) without Echo boost, you get one (or two) of the yellow atmas.
If you kill Ifrit HM (or EM) without Echo boost, you get one (or two) of the red atmas.
If you kill Leviathan HM (or EM) without Echo boost, you get one (or two) of the blue atmas.

Atma grind really ought to be done through Maps instead of FATE's (droprate adjusted accordingly)
