Need Something Different Than PF for Raid Content

Due to the level of challenge posed by raid level encounters, PF really isn't the right kind of tool. We need a tool that allows for planning out a raid ahead of time. For instance, a person might post a time for a Twintania fight on the board, and others can come and sign up for the Twintania fight at their leisure. The entry on the board states a date and time for when the event will start, and an end time, but there would be no limit on people who can sign up. Instead, the poster of the event can look at who signed up, their main job, FC, achievements (including dates of achievements), and other relevant information. The poster can then choose who will be in the final team and hit a button for signing those people up, which will inform all those who signed up whether they have been invited to the party or not.

The problem with party finder is that it encourages people to join groups even if they might not have enough time to make serious progress on an encounter. I'm sure people have had to deal with party members who leave a new boss encounter 30 minutes into doing it. That is not always acceptable to players who want to dedicate a good hour or two to a fight, and it holds the whole group back.

Also, statics are not a viable solution, because as many have already noticed, static groups have their own serious issues (time needed to form them, how do we deal with missing players, what happens to you if your group dissolves, etc...).

Sooo, basically make it completely impossible for anyone who hasn't done content in the first week to get into a party.

Even people making parties to learn content would get tempted to fill with experienced players over new players. We would basically need all new players to make their own parties.

This has been an issue in many MMOs that Pug Groups tend to be failures more often than not for the new end-game content. However, most who are truly serious about end-game have a "static" group which, yes, has its own problems but at the same time is a lot more reliable than a pug group. If you can't do set times, well then have a good 10 people who want to do it and attempt to move forward when enough are on. Those who do not will either have to sit out or pug.

I think what you are asking for is actually a horrible idea. This will promote people to be quite elitist without a static. Once an individual has beaten a certain piece of content, they will then create a group but have restrictions against anyone new to that content creating an elitist pug group. For those who are new, you are still going to get people to sign up and bail within 30 minutes no matter how long you had it up for. People are going to leave if they want to or not. Your idea, while valid, will not ultimately be any better than our current Party Finder. Plus we do not need to base ANYTHING off achievements. This is not WoW.

Well, if they ever do cross-server stuff in this game, I'd love to see something on openraid.us/‎ with FFXIV

They already do cross server stuff, it's called DF.

He means like in WoW where you can create groups from people in other servers. Set it up yourself, not just DF into something with random people from cross-server.

Thanks Adoxx. Ya, sorry my post didn't really elaborate on it. Ya in wow you can send party invites cross server and it would throw you over to play on the other server, or them to you.

This way, you could post like, a coil farm raid on openraid and just send out invites to those interested. It's like the party finder we have now, but anyone, from any server could sign up.

Well. The PF can't stay the same forever I like this idea and should be the next enchantment to PF.

Initially I thought it was going to be able to do this from the jump but it has a timer.

They can make a "Party Finder Board" where you can post and review all the applicants and they can get a mail or notification that they have been accepted.

If you put a PF up now you might not get all the like minded people you were searching for, whether they doing something else or haven't logged on. Its been times you wanted to do something but maybe felt you weren't ready. This way the one who posted can set time and req giving you time to prep and something to look forward too. Works for if you have a static or not.

That's what I mean. Plus, people keep mentioning that "most people who are serious about end-game have a static...", but that is nonsense. Capable players of course look long and hard for groups that meet their time constraints, but sometimes there just aren't any. Or the one static that did ends up dissolving or gets filled. The vast majority of capable players do not have time to be raid leaders due to the work involved in organizing the team. The board idea at least lets these people find one another and get into the content.

but......isnt like that already?

fail = kick , or exp only

If only every player from different servers could teleport to a specific map and meet up and then decide to run dungeons or etc... just a random thought but ya never know.

Bump because I love this idea. My sever board is not active for the most part(besides FC advertising)

I work 50+ hours a week and have a 3day weekend with good Friday coming up, this would had been perfect if I could had put up an early notice and been reviewing my applicants during the week.

Ya it's called networking , play with other people make connections and play with multitude of people so you can have lots of people to fill up groups or join into groups
