I been in Southern Thanalan for 5 hours and I haven't seen the Fate show up at all can you plz fix this
I just got it after ~2 hours waiting and doing some other FATEs and reading some FATE descriptions
it is actually part of a FATE chain
"Tempered, Tempered" > "The Book of Pride" > "Taken" (dunno if anything else followed coz i left after getting it done)
hope i could help you out
I've tried the method above and it does not work, The Book of Pride actually spawned, and I never even saw Tempered, Tempered. I don't know what's happening.
Im on this now last night few hours with no pop , tried the above post as well 2 times so its false does not work, it has to be random just a long wait it would seem.
I saw tempered and book of pride as serperate fates just by waiting also., anyone finds this let us know
I just recently had the FATE spawn, but if you see it about to start, would look like a bunch of NPCs walking south from the nearby camp-ish place, some dialogue starts up, then the FATE spawns. Can't really say what starts it or if it's just RNG, but I been waiting for a good 7+ hours for it to pop.
I've been waiting almost 6 hours for this FATE to spawn. It's not linked to 'Book of Pride' or 'Tempered, Tempered' in any way, as I've cleared those FATEs several times and nothing happens. This FATE's spawn chance is waaaaaaay too low, as it takes longer waiting on it to spawn than completing an entire books-worth of objectives.
This Chain is actually Incorrect, i didn't do any of these fates and i got it to spawn.
It is part of a Chain Fate, the first fate is "Run Like a Flame" lvl26. You actually have to speak to a Flame Scout to activate it and it becomes an escort mission back to Little Ala Mhigo. After a minute or two the Fate Taken should spawn. The reason i believe those two are linked is because after about 75% completion of the fate that same Flame Scout you escorted comes to help in the Fate and when complete has dialogue exchange with the hostages or people that were taken.
There are no pre-requisites to this quest. A group of NPCs will start a dialogue and the FATE begins.
The real problem is that this FATE takes about two hours to two and a half hours to spawn. I went to sleep with my laptop up and checked it every now and then in the middle of the night. I noticed this pattern and then I knew based on the time stamped dialogues that it was coming up soon. It did and I completed this FATE for my animus.
Hope this helps. Also, this FATE is completed very easily just by one person. So you have to keep your eyes open. I suggest just leaving the map up and/or standing in the area it starts. (18,20)
Good luck!
"Taken" popped for me a few minutes after nobody started the "Run Like a Flame" FATE that starts when you talk to the Lv. 26 Flame Scout at X17/Y18. Not sure if it always happens, but that's how it happened for me.
Been waiting for three hours. Nothing has popped.
Ok it FINALLY popped. It is pure RNG. SE needs to fix some of these spawn times for fates.
very very long wait zzzz
2.5 hours? What game are you playing?
I did this FATE and it popped twice within 15 minutes of completing it the first time.
I even bothered to /shout that the FATE was up. No one came. So much for people complaining that it "doesn't occur often."
I've been here all night waiting. You probably just got lucky.
Been waiting for this for 6+ hours over 3 days and the only time it popped that I know of was when my guests were here for mothers-day.
This is complete B.S. SE
Been here for 7 hours now --- no FATE. >.<
I started camping it for 4 hours last night before I fell asleep, and today I have camped it for 3 hours and nothing.
My playtime is limited cause I'm working a lot so it really sucks having to waste precious playtime to just sit about doing next to nothing.
And no I don't want to do other stuff, this is my last book before Animus and I'm sure no one would rather level another class or something when they're sooo close
Edit: Need to leave for work in 45 minutes, pleaase spawn so I don't feel like I have wasted 8 hours doing nothing :((
need to make sure that not too many fates are on at the same time otherwise it will not spawn, took me 3 hours
Well based on rumours that it spawns only @ dawn time ingame and its triggered by Flame Scout from Run Like a Flame.
I waited till like 3am for Flame Scout to repop and started escort, took me like 3min to finish and soon after, like 7min later Taken popped @7am ingame.
Might be part of the trigger mechanics or just coincidence, but that what happend to me.
EDIT:
Flame Scout pops every 20min, so...
This really needs fixing. If I knew I would have to leave my computer on for many hours while I do nothing and staying alert watching and waiting for this one fate to appear, I never would have started all the zodiac quests. I was in a party a couple hours ago waiting for this fate but over time people are losing the will to go on and peeling away. I am still here stubbornly waiting it out, for now.
Consider the 'Spawns only in Morning (game time)' theory debunked. Taken just spawned at 1:30pm game time.
I think this is making sense. I did some other FATES in the surrounding area (Aspid and gentlemen zombies) and upon finishing it, the NPC even for the Taken fate started.Quote:

Ok done it but I was waiting 4 straight hours. If I didnt have that long to wait it would be impossible. If you absolutely need a certain thing to progress then that thing should at least be available, every hour of the day.
Greetings,
Currently we’ve already implemented a system that will boost the spawn rate of FATEs that have not been occurring, but in patch 2.3 we will be making adjustments to this so the effect is increased even more. We’ll also be making individual adjustments to FATEs, and in particular we will be making adjustments to the spawn location for the FATE “Taken” so that it occurs more frequently.
Additionally as a side note, there have been rumors floating around that failed FATEs have their spawn rate increased, but the system does not work this way.
Cool thanks! I think failed FATE's should be made to spawn sooner.
Get a lot of trolls starting FATE's & ruined them... on those long spawns, it's very painful. Especially the FATE "Surprise" which requires keeping two NPC's alive... any passerby gets that one going & it's spoiled within a minute's time.
That's interesting, we were told in the Live letter less than a week ago:

A: It really depends on how far you are referring to when you say “future.” At present, we have no plans to make adjustments in patch 2.28 or 2.3. If we were to make changes now, the effort put in by all the players who've been working hard on their weapons up until now would be wasted. However, in the future, with new players coming in and item levels increasing, it will be difficult to do everything from the beginning, so we're planning to make adjustments at that point in time just like we do with other aspects of the game. With that said, it’s not that we won’t be doing it in the future, it just won't be right away.
lol
I remember waiting patiently on this FATE for my last book. About 3 hours of waiting and almost fell asleep, it finally popped. I think at my time, it's around 4 AM (or 6 AM JST). Too bad for the other players who was standing there, obviously waiting, still had no idea the FATE popped. So I proceed to own it solo very quickly, then logged and hit the hay. Then next I logged, I go to the old man to get my animus. lol
Been around 4 hours standing here at the FATE spawn point with nothing to show for it. This is of course, my last fate before I complete this last book for Animus, so of course it needs to be the most stubborn one. >:@
I started this boox and got 2 of the 3 fates right away, zoned to Little Ala Migho and there it was, but 90% completed, was able to only get bronze.
I have not left the zone since then, that was 5 hours 15 minutes ago. It litterally spawned as I typed this.
