Hard Disconnection - Long Wait to Log In

I'm not sure if this has been answered already as I didn't notice any devs responding to the technical support section. Since beta I've noticed that when ever I'm d/ced due to my router or modem taking a crap it takes about 10-15 minutes to log back in the game. When I'm d/ced due to my connection being slowed I'm able to log back in quickly. This can be very frustrating when it happens in the middle of a group leve run. Does anyone else have this issue?

Yup, and it's cost me more than a fair share of leves with my linkshell mates as a result of it. Just once I'd like to be able to kill stuff and not d/c.

This is unfortunate but I fear it may be needed. While you DC your character remains in the world. Otherwise you'll probably get "OMG IM GUNNA DIE *unplugs connection and back in again then logs in* OH YAY MY MOB IS STILL THERE AND I'M STILL ALIVE" people.

It only takes about 1 minute or less to die.

Not for a full party >.>

Also, when you're in a 60 minute instance and can't log in for 15 minutes. It's going to frustrate some players more so than leves.

I doubt anyone does that as it takes longer to unplug your modem than logging out normally :P

They should just allow reconnects from a different IP.

Odd, when I get a d/c or a Windows error, I never stay kicked out for more than a min or two. Maybe I'm just lucky?

I don't recall anything particularly specific being said about fixing this issue. However, it's not that hard of a problem to solve. All they have to do is this, and everything should be fine:

I like your idea.

And Shikaree I'm talking about when the connection completely cuts out. When I d/c from a poor connection I can log back in normally.

If you d/c and it won't let you back in within a min. Exit completely out of the FFXIV window and run it again (where you have to sign back in) and it should let you back in.

Try the above :D

There's different kinds of DC.

If you DC via in-game error or server error of some kind, your character is booted from the game world and you can log back in soon.

If you DC because your modem died, or your router died, or you unplugged your ethernet cable, or you force quit the FF14 application, then your character persists in the game world for 10 minutes and you can't log back in until the server boots your character out of the game world after those 10 minutes are up.
