[Retainer] Third Time's a Charm

Last week, my cute Lalafell retainer got me a Primal weapon "Mischievous Mogbow" and she found another "Garuda's Will" two days after that. And guess what? Today she found a third Primal weapon which is "Majestic Mogtome"!!

Some people said that I was hacking or something, and one of them said that screenshot I posted was edited. So I video recording it this time and put it on Youtube instead. :p

Hey this is just a game, just because I found something extremely rare, and you didn't doesn't mean that I'm lying or anything. :rolleyes:

I got lots of Housing furniture too.
Glade table, Glade drawer table, Riviera table, Manor desk, Manor cupboard, Glade wardrobe, Riviera ornate door, Twin Adder banner, Riviera oblong window, Glade flower vase, Riviera flower vase, Maguey, Glade cottage roof(stone), Glade cottage roof(wood), Riviera picket wall x2, Steel lamppost, Stone flooring, Stone interior wall, Moogle rug, Ink & Quill x3.

I've gotten the mog sch book myself, so I don't doubt your screenshots :p

Its all RNG, if you are constantly spamming "Quicks" you are gonna get some luck.

Suck at doing primals? well good news, Level up a main account, use the 2 free retainers, + buy 2 more, total of 4, make all the same class to significantly increase your chances of getting free ivl75 items.

So far I've gotten a ton of housing items, but once my retainer brought me back a Darklight Coreslet of Aiming.

This Ventures system is pretty cool

I'll admit that I had my doubts, but I'm not quick to scream "hax!" or "shopped", so I was waiting to see. I just got Ifrit's Harpoon today, so it's definitely legit.

Also, what gear do you have your retainers equipped with? Are you doing quick exploration, or the 18 hour one? I got mine during the quick exploration as a BTN that is ilvl3 at level 22 (I've been lazy with gearing because it hasn't really mattered yet, leveling is still pretty quick, and I don't want to make new gear for her every other day). I am assuming that gear doesn't really matter, and it's all RNG, but I'm still curious.

Even with the high rarity drops it's still not pay to win. You likely have to level up your retainers to even have a chance, but to do that you have to farm seals or beastman dailies to get the ventures. Oh, but they moved the old tome materials to the Companies alongside stacks of ventures, and the new crafter/gatherer gear requires trading in of processed tome materials. You can only do 6 dailies a day and from what I've seen they only give one venture each. Either way, you have to farm to keep in ventures to send your retainers out on. Pay to win, though, is all about instant gratification. Using what you bought to get an immediate leg-up on everyone else.

Insult on injury, noone does some of the early primals except those getting relics to take into +2 or +3. And it's a blue moon when you see normal Thornmarch in party-finder. This is just making it 'easier' to get a primal drop that may or may not drop to begin with.

The most interesting thing I've gotten so far is a minion (wind-up aldgoat). My retainers are not well-geared. They're just wearing leftovers that I still had in my stash. Most of what I've used has been converted to materia, so I don't have a lot to choose from.

A few people in my FC have gotten ilvl70 PVP gear, which is hilarious because none of us do PVP.

idk about you but with the current Atma fate grinding, I bought 99 ventures and still have over 40k seals lol.

I'm doing the Quick exploration, and is pure RNG so gears doesn't matter.

Yeah, I was so excited each time I saw "AAA has returned from venture". Time for surprise!!
This venture system reminds me of the Chocobo World, Pocket station in Final Fantasy VIII. ;)

They're gonna have to adjust this pretty soon I reckon. It's a little bit ridiculous being able to send out a lvl10 retainer in lvl1 gear and have them coming back with primal weapons etc.

Primal weapons are nearly worthless now except for glamours. It's so easy to get a relic, and you can't sell primal weapons, so there's really no harm in the retainer bringing them back.

I doubt they'll adjust it. It's not like the retainers are coming with iLvl 90 gear. Mog weapons and garuda weapons are items nobody is farming anymore, unless its for vanity or they are new players trying to gear up (even then, I don't think they'd farm weapons). Working as intended.

how do you teach your retainer to fight primal Q_Q
mine only like to steal housing item and love to do AK ( alot equipment my retainer get for me)

This is probably why they added the Trial Roulette. I know I plan to farm for Garuda Talons now that my queue times will shorten up.

It's still ridiculous though. Why even bother having the ability to gear up your retainer? Where's the incentive to even lvl them if they can hit 10 (which takes no time at all), send them out on a quicky and have them bring back this stuff? People complain abut bad players all the time and new people coming in and being able to acquire this lvl of gear immediately without doing any of the content doesn't help. It would make more sense to have the stuff they are bringing back dependent on both their gear and lvl - still RNG but loot pool increases based on those criteria, at least they'd have to make the effort and do some grinding

Or people leveling/gearing alts or people who don't have much time to play. I would say a lot of people are still farming them when during peak times a dps can get a full party of players using zenith weapons (therefore not going for relics) in less than 10 minutes.

It baffles me as to how one can take a virtual bubble cap mechanic and make it out to be a bad thing.

Being able to get a myriad of prizes from the retainer's venture is part of even doing it. It's an incentive to do dailies and/or spend the Grand Company seals from all those FATEs during Atma Quests or turning in Gear from those new dungeons.

Put in a Venture token and you get a prize out of it... just like in those fun little machines in the arcades...

Lol I would not consider this "faulty", "bad", "hindering" or any other negative connotation. What's more fun than getting a roof back from one's retainer?

Because you require certain stats to actually choose what you want to gather. Bringing home primal weapons is cool and all, but I want to be able to have them farm items for me such as Apkallu Eggs, and I'll need to gear them up to do so.

So far the Ventures haven't provided an item higher level than i75, and being that these are technically obsolete now (great little prizes for newer players though) this isn't game breaking at all.

A lvl 11 Arcanist Retainer using lvl5 gear was able to retrieve the furniture item from T9. Can you really defend that? I'm positive this is some sort of glitch, there is no reason that side content should be able to retrieve the highest level of hardcore rewards for absolutely no work at all.

Edit: Oh, someone already mentioned that white raven pieces are being found. The professional strawmen here are just ignoring it. LOL

Our retainers are part of Thancred's secret fraternity and do not really have to combat things to earn the prizes they bring back to players.

However, on a serious note... Until we all are swimming in White Raven Armor Fragments, I don't see where the issue is. The gentleman who got that is just -super- lucky. As is the case with lottery item "minigames", one puts in a token and he may receive a "diamond" or a "lump of coal".

That's the fun part about it. Anything is possible.

So far the rarest I've got from venture was a Vermillion Chain Coif. Hope to get one of 'em fancy blue icon stuff, too.

Mine have only got me high quality crafting items and subligar pants. That I refuse to wear.

So a part for a piece of furniture is now "highest level of hardcore rewards".

Why is it only "unique" then. Why is it tradable and sellable.

Why can I buy all this furniture off the market board.

The "highest level of hardcore rewards" are what comes from the coffers which are all unique/untradable.

@OP: what level are your retainers? Also has anyone gotten allagan from retainers yet?

I've gotten the ifrit cane for whm.

My retainers have yet to have brought me anything lucrative or even slightly interesting. Roofs, random food items/ingredients, few pieces of low-level clothes, a few housing items... never anything of amazing interest.

mine were getting noting usefull for a long time, then he got to lvl 15 and i gave him a full sastasha green set, now he grabs ilvl 50 whites al the time.
