[Retainer] Third Time's a Charm

Last week, my cute Lalafell retainer got me a Primal weapon "Mischievous Mogbow" and she found another "Garuda's Will" two days after that. And guess what? Today she found a third Primal weapon which is "Majestic Mogtome"!!

Some people said that I was hacking or something, and one of them said that screenshot I posted was edited. So I video recording it this time and put it on Youtube instead.

Hey this is just a game, just because I found something extremely rare, and you didn't doesn't mean that I'm lying or anything.

Hmm, not that I'm going to debunk your finds immediately but didn't they say venture data was being saved client side? I'm just a little skeptical that perhaps a means of modifying the data has been found so it's possible to modify what is being found. Client side it reads this of course but in reality you're not actually getting those items from your retainer. I'll admit I can be wrong but it just makes me a little suspicious that the data couldn't be modified to show something else even if you aren't getting that in reality.

I think it's more random than that. There's a lower chance retainers will bring back fancy things at lower levels but anyone who's faced the RNG (regardless of winning or losing) knows that that doesn't mean a lot. I do however think some photoshopping is getting around too though, with a low level retainer supposedly bringing back 2 primal weapons and the like. I doubt they'll be game breaking but people only seem to comment about the big stuff so it gives an impression of a higher ratio than there really is too.

Its all RNG, if you are constantly spamming "Quicks" you are gonna get some luck.

Suck at doing primals? well good news, Level up a main account, use the 2 free retainers, + buy 2 more, total of 4, make all the same class to significantly increase your chances of getting free ivl75 items.

So far I've gotten a ton of housing items, but once my retainer brought me back a Darklight Coreslet of Aiming.

I'll admit that I had my doubts, but I'm not quick to scream "hax!" or "shopped", so I was waiting to see. I just got Ifrit's Harpoon today, so it's definitely legit.

Also, what gear do you have your retainers equipped with? Are you doing quick exploration, or the 18 hour one? I got mine during the quick exploration as a BTN that is ilvl3 at level 22 (I've been lazy with gearing because it hasn't really mattered yet, leveling is still pretty quick, and I don't want to make new gear for her every other day). I am assuming that gear doesn't really matter, and it's all RNG, but I'm still curious.

Even with the high rarity drops it's still not pay to win. You likely have to level up your retainers to even have a chance, but to do that you have to farm seals or beastman dailies to get the ventures. Oh, but they moved the old tome materials to the Companies alongside stacks of ventures, and the new crafter/gatherer gear requires trading in of processed tome materials. You can only do 6 dailies a day and from what I've seen they only give one venture each. Either way, you have to farm to keep in ventures to send your retainers out on. Pay to win, though, is all about instant gratification. Using what you bought to get an immediate leg-up on everyone else.

Insult on injury, noone does some of the early primals except those getting relics to take into +2 or +3. And it's a blue moon when you see normal Thornmarch in party-finder. This is just making it 'easier' to get a primal drop that may or may not drop to begin with.

The most interesting thing I've gotten so far is a minion (wind-up aldgoat). My retainers are not well-geared. They're just wearing leftovers that I still had in my stash. Most of what I've used has been converted to materia, so I don't have a lot to choose from.

A few people in my FC have gotten ilvl70 PVP gear, which is hilarious because none of us do PVP.
