Place your bets! will it all be done by Sept?

With the delay of this patch and still no date in sight, im betting we wont get all of what Yoshi planned to be done by the end of summer (September is when it ends) here are some of the things that were planend to be done by then...which seem like no small task.

Job system
Job quests
Tutorials
Grand companys
Pop-up help
Configuration menu improvements
UI revisions based on battle system reform
Management window for achievements
Materia system
Addition of frontier hubs
Ifrit battle

...and lots of different revisions and changes.

With only a couple months left, i just can't see them getting all of that done by Sept. Id stake my gil on that...it just seems like too much in too little of time..especially at the slower pace its been as of late.

Id love to be proven wrong, but im doubting it. So....How much would bet it will or will not be out?

at the current pace? We'll be lucky to have all that by Dec.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it might be delayed by a month... so by the end of October, early November... November... omg if it's done by then I'm gonna have a hard time switching between FFXIV and Skyrim...

ive got Dead Island, White Knight 2, Dark Souls and Skyrim to hold me....of course that for the most part after sept.
and thats just the RPGs.

A month before GW2 comes out and then they're going to put out 1.18 to try and beat it.

And then it'll flop again.

I still think they will make it by the end of September. I think it will be 1.18 July, 1.19 August, 1.20 September. Yeah they have fallen behind on this patch but that is most likely due to the battle system. Other teams will be making progress on other things though like content, gear, mobs and reworking the maps.

The way I see it is they are trying to get this all done by the 1 year anniversary so I think they will crunch if they have to, to make it happen.

So I think they will still make it, if anyone Lindblum wants to take the bet I will ^^

Everything on that list... if 1.20 = rest of the list, then they might be able to if there's no more delays. But don't think they were gonna cram it all on 3 patches, my guess is end of year >.<

If they can get the groundwork laid down by August, probably (is my guess)

My Oblivion game folder is 21.7 Gb.. I plan to learn how to mod and do all kinds of fancy stuff with Skyrim... a dragon shout that makes everyone naked might be fun.

That one game would be enough to keep me busy for a very long time... if FFXIV can't draw my attention like that anyway.

Game will not be anywhere near close to being finished or ready for subscriptions for a long time. My best guess is by the start of summer next year. Hamlet battles are nowhere to be found, crafting projects almost no mention, game engine is still not finished, server infrastructure still not finished, open world HNMs barely any mention, zone redesign is just talk, no mention of AH or mail system, no mention of customizable UI, etc.

i am a realistic, which unfortately makes me abit pessamistic lol so i bet 1.18 by end july (fingers crossed) all the stuff at top page by next july (2012) lol ( end of july haha)

By the end of September I think is a good date.

I believe they are working on more then 1 update at a time. Considering they showed us a pictures of the bstmen stronghold which is a 1.19 update about a month ago. think it was letter 9

So if they are doing that it is possible these update will come in quick burst of one another... quick being like 2-3 weeks apart.

It is very possible it will be delayed, but I will put my money on the end of September give or take 2 weeks (normal for any game developer).

as for this patch date, doesnt m atter really the game is still a year away from being something to really get into , pay for and enjoyable

I think Yoshida is pretty serious about delivering by that deadline. Whether or not that's actually gonna happen... I would like to think so. However, as the leader of XIV, he should be held accountable to the deadline he very clearly spelled out for us.

I know he has a crap job and I sympathize. But he needs to deliver on his deadlines just the same as any good leader would. Either way, I want XIV to succeed and Yoshida has my support.

Yeah, most people are under this impression, but the OP was talking about all the stuff that YoshiP outlined in one of his Producer Letters.

I think he'll at least accomplish 80-90% of what he planned.

I bet we get 1.18 and 1.19 with maybe a small adjustment patch to 1.18 and that is it (by Sept). I am not disappointed necessarily, just realistic.

That stuff will be another year + easy...the re-design if they even do much with it will take half of that alone. Not to mention sprinkeling in new content constantly just to keep up.

i think each patch will bring a few bugs and problems that will need to be adressed etc, and i'm not talking about all the problems that will come up with the huge size of the patches. Soooooo, 1,18 is going to take all summer to me >_>..

Let's face it; this development team is very slow. I just don't see it happening unless they pull a miracle out their ass.

lol it baffles me as to why the patcher has not been fixed. Is that not a big deal? I mean personally its been pretty meh, times its fast, others its down to a crawl.

The patcher isn't broken, more often than not the problem lies with the user router settings.

LOL not this argument again. Countless people have opened ports, forwarded them, the whole 9. The point is, if I use the SE patcher, I get 30kb/s down max, but if I throw the files into uTorrent, it's magically my connection's capped speed.

Ive actually used Utorrent quite a bit when the game first launched, it just worked WAY better...though it was a tough thing to explain to friends.

No. We're not gonna have jack diddly by then. By September 2012 we will have a decent game worthy of release.
