Lag in Instances + Endless "loading" screens when transitioning to a new area

Since the implementation of 2.2, I've been having some real lag problems in the instances. Prior, I would have slight latency issues every now and then (a skill wouldn't fire and could be recast as soon as the client-side timer ended), but very scarcely. But, for example, I constantly have skills not firing due to lag between myself and the server. In four out of the five instances I've done since last night, other people in the instance were also complaining about severe lag.

On a related note, I've tried transitioning to new areas (teleport from Gridania to Limsa Lominsa, accepting my duty finder for Halatali), and have gotten stuck in an endless loading screen. I've left the game running for 20 minutes when the teleport from Gridania one occurred, and it still stuck me in Gridania. [EDIT: I should say that after I force close the program and start it up again, I am where I tried to transition to.]

I've tried testing the speed of my connection/connection to other games and websites, and they are all in working order. So, if anyone else is having this problem, or you know of a way I can test whether it's specifically my connection to the server, please reply in this thread.

[UPDATE: Square Enix has made a post in the news section regarding this issue. I'll post this information here and in a fresh post, in case people who have viewed this are just skipping to first new message.]

I'm also having this problem in instances. Party members "teleporting", abilities on the hotbar not triggering when activated, weapon skill chain indicators being severely delayed, inability to talk to NPCs in instances (but pressing the cancel button does return an "event canceled" message).

I'm guessing whatever updates they made to their hardware following the 2.2 patch (that required the extra downtime) are the culprit.

I have to third this. I have experienced lag up to 6000ms+ when interacting with objects and have seen teammates teleport and such.
I am guessing the netcode would also be part of the culprit, or the new hardware, although these things were really annoying in the Vale for instance before update, but less so in other dungeons. I guess mutualizing more the instances actually spread the problem.
I hope it helps them get to the root of it, for as for now the high end content is nigh unplayable for me.

I'm getting super bad server lag in instances also

Noticed it at 1st today when i did my low level roulette with my pld. Constantly lossed aggro because my combo's weren't registering correctly.

Even worse when i ran lost city on my whm. Wiped twice because the lag wasn't allowing me to open the doors for diabolos...... Not only would it not open the door, but i would be locked at the door position for 10 secs also.......
There was also a point were i literally had to cast medica 2 THREE times because it wasn't registering for some reason

The lag is definitely on the server side to because my ping graph isn't showing any spikes + my internet is testing fine with speed tests

No lag issues AT ALL before that emergency maintenance.......... (though my party did get bug/glitched/locked in the void door against diabolos)

I have all of the above problems in 4 man instances, then in more complex situations (8man) it's a complete crash.

The lag happens specifically in instances. Even in solo instances of the main quests.

This should have been tested and hotfixed in the 23ish hour maintenance that was done as they stressed the need for that time to make sure it was all perfect. (obviously it's not)
The new server setup that has been implemented has something seriously wrong with it.
Open world is fine (I haven't seen these endless loading screens but have had a couple friends have it)
This seems to be 100% confined to instance servers of all variations.
When it takes 3 minutes for an NPC or random item in a dungeon / guildhest to respond that's never a good sign.
All of these problems are new to this patch. The game ran like a dream with no hiccups for me pre-patch.
Every last person I run with has the exact same issues at the exact same times that I experience them.
It goes from bogged as heck for up to a few minutes to running fine for somewhere close to a few minutes.

Symptoms include but are not necessarily limited to:
- "Teleporting" players ... Players don't run any more. They teleport vast distances because of constant desynchronization
- Frequent red disconnect circle icons appearing beside player names in dungeons. This comes in blips when we're experiencing the issues.
- Inability to cast spells or abilities. You press the button and it doesn't respond at all. This can last a long time.. and as a healer this is irritating and dangerous.
- High Latency. During these long blips of trouble, IF you can get a spell off it generally comes at a huge delay. I'd gauge it somewhere close to 50/50 with misfirings or a completely lagged skill. This high latency also causes you to be hit by AOE / dodge mechanics that you've gotten extremely far away from by the time they go off but they still hit you.
- Much larger spikes when interacting with inanimate objects (doors, keys, chain pulls.. oh AND Dungeon exit portals) and NPCs which cause COMPLETE lockup for long periods of time.
- Instance servers -only-. I experience absolutely no problems in the open world and all reports I've seen/gotten from friends and fc mates have been in some variation of instance. (and yes it's ALL of the instance types) ---We all run on very high-tier self built PCs so there may be other problems affecting lower-tiered computers as well.---

This is EXTREMELY frustrating and I would appreciate it a lot if Square Enix could get this dealt with. I don't even care if it has to go down for another full day to fix it.
These dungeons/guildhests/story quests instances are absolutely horrendous and this should be a top priority fix.
This is a universal problem and it occurs with every person involved regardless of the home server they originated from.

Side note: This also seems to be getting worse with time. Yesterday, I only experienced half of these issues and in much smaller spurts.

Similar issues are being had on Leviathan. My current statistics show that I am Sending around 20-30ms and receiving 5000-6000ms. Ran ping and speeds tests on my end and both returned well within their normal boundaries. As with Acquitor, the majority of the problems seem to come in the instanced content. My computer rig is also well above spec for the game, and I have party members and FC mates reporting their own troubles while trying to partake in dungeons.

Yes the lag present in all instances is upsetting me, I cannot complete combos, it makes things very difficult and spoils my enjoyment.

I was running Stone Vigil about 8:00 CSTpm
Hit skills multiple times and they half way activated then canceled themselves(on drg). I had to hit the skills several times to get them to activate.

Never had any lag issues before.

I have to admit, most of the players In Mateus, US server have complained to me about this issue today. Also I experienced firsthand when I attempted to tank my First Roulette. This is being currently addressed on EU servers, but it needs to be fixed on US as well. From what I gather it seems to be a game-wide problem since 2.2 patch, but more specifically since they did the Emergency Maintenance last night. Lag is just unbearable to do any dungeons.

Also experiencing lag on Hyperion. Just ran Haukke Manor (HM) around 8 PM EST and my party members were also having similar issues. Having to button-mash to get abilities to fire off and interacting with items (for example Tiny Key and Locked Door) takes a lot longer. Been monitoring my network traffic and I'm also not getting any ping spikes, nor have I had any of these issues before the update.

Lag is so bad right now I can't even get the launcher to bring up login area without getting a timed out error. Lag started to get worse as the night wore on. First indication of lag came when attacks weren't resetting as fast as they should have (minor problem, but tolerable). Second was when hitting an action multiple times just to get it to activate along with an issue where doing Diabolos in The lost city will cause Doors to not work properly. When I say not work properly, i mean that during the transition from one door to the other you become bugged and stuck at the exit door without showing up (remain invisible). The only way my pt could fix this was to logout then back in which usually resulted in a wipe (had to do this 3 times before the fight didn't bug). Then the final one is where I can't even get the logon screen to come up in the launcher, it just times out again and again or it gets stuck at trying to check if the launcher is even up to date.

Unbearable instance lag on Excalibur. Sometimes, there's minimal to no lag. But now, the norm feels like crippling lag where I'm hoping that the game registers when I'm casting Cure. Toto-Rak earlier tonight was nearly unplayable. Everyone in the party was skipping all over the place and half of my heals weren't registering. Virtually everyone I talk to in my FC says the same thing. If I'm out of a dungeon, I don't have an issue. It started late last night for me when I tanked Sastasha. Dungeons are just unplayable.

I feel like I'm healing naked.

It's different than the lag we used to get in the congested AK or WP dungeons when everyone was farming it for quick Myth tokens in that I can actually see my character casting, the animation fires, but that happy little healing number doesn't show up. Not the insane rubber banding and people not moving on my screen, if that makes sense.

4 Cure I's and then it fires. This happens for about 25 seconds and then the tank dies. We couldn't clear the trash in Haukke Hard Mode because of it. Sometimes I get the little red "disconnecting" circle next to my head, but usually not at all. The monk was complaining that his stances weren't changing appropriately.

I thought it may have been the dungeon, so I did a Low Level Duty Finder. Titan Regular-Mode was completely unplayable.

I don't think it's my end, Wildstar Beta is playing very smoothly and I haven't had any issues. I've been monitoring my ping and signal and all is normal. Judging by the in game conversation, they're aware; I just hope they fix it before the weekend is over.

Instance lag is very prevalent on Behemoth as well. Mostly only in higher level dungeons such at the new ones. Every other game plays smoothly and my connection is testing just fine.

Taking forever for skills to fire and sometimes they dont fire ever.

Havin same lagg issues on Exodus server, and so is everyone SE please fix this

Have you guys been submitting these problems via the proper support channels? This is for user-to-user support... need to submit your issues where SE more actively looks for problems to be communicated.

There's already a bug report up for heals not hitting since 2.2 (misfirings of skills) and I've linked this thread in it at this point. Helps having an informative thread here too regardless cause a lot of people are coming on and going "Why is this happening?!"

The misfirings in the bug report directly co-relate to the issues had here so yeah.

I've been experiencing the same problems through a number of dungeon runs. Today was at its worst, with Medica and Medica II not working for at least one casting of the spell. Stoneskin would get dropped and I'd have to cast it at least twice to get the actual effect. Sometimes I'd even cast Cure after that and have it canceled, try again, and get canceled a second time. During fights where I had to consume Morbol Fruit in Aurum Vale, when I tried to activate the fruit, I was stuck there for up to 5 seconds before the game let me even try to eat them. During this time combat was still going on and everyone's HP was fluctuating. This "lag" was even present when I was even running Wanderer's Palace with friends. Trying to activate switches caused me to get stuck there, waiting for the Yes/No prompt, and even longer to even see the progress bar. Then, during the second fight I started to cast Holy to help take care of the adds. I had to have cast Holy about 10 times during that fight and not only was my MP nearly full, but some of the adds weren't even being hurt by my spell, while others took the hits and died. That's when I REALLY noticed this problem. Until this gets fixed, I'm not touching dungeons.

Lag in every instance zone since 2.2 was released. Other threads on it too. Only job that can play normal is BRD since we can move while using our abilities. Poor healers having a very rough time. Spell interrupts over and over for no reason.

Just tried to run Copperbell Mines(Hard), my tank was an FC mate and I was spam healing but only two actually healed him. My heals keep getting randomly interrupted and it is extremely annoying. I had no problems with the Guildhest servers so far just the dungeon servers.

I have no lag outside of instances. I am a new Paladin and I am trying to gear up to do the new dungeons so I can get Darklight gear. I have tried to run Copperbell Mines Hardmode 2-3 times and everyone is skipping around complaining about lag. Our combos are being cut off and the healer was spam healing, but only ended up landing 2 heals on me the entire fight. Everyone also has been getting disconnect symbols above their head. This is unacceptable, they want people to enjoy the new dungeons and content, but as it stands now you arent even capable of doing that with how bad the lag is. This needs to be addressed and fixed so I can gear up and enjoy the new dungeons.

I'm in the USA (Texas), and play with a buddy from Canada, and we're both having extreme lag / skill interruptions. People warping all over the place, but the real annoyance are the constant "INTERRUPTED" on skills accompanied by "Cannot execute at this time" messages.

This needs to be fixed - ASAP. Lots of people I grouped with today were complaining about this issue, mostly casters with long spell cast times (like myself), but it probably effects everyone to a degree. I had some people in my FC just give up doing dungeons today because the lag/skill interruptions are so bad.

I watched Transpose take 6+ seconds to switch from Astral Fire to Umbral Ice (several times) after casting, while sitting there being completely useless with little to no mana. I've had the same skill get interrupted SIX times in a row.

Unacceptable.

Same here, extreme Lags in every Dungeon this Morning. (playing in Europe on Server -Shiva- )

Instances lagging severely. Especially during interactions with items/shortcuts/etc. Constant spell interrupts when there should not be. Also earlier I had the same problem while coming in and out of Ifrit-Egi ARC quest fight. A few times today it happened while trying to teleport as well. Would lag on animation and then not teleport me at all. Had to log to fix.

i am on leviathan as well while over the last 12 hrs i would say lag has been getting progressivly worse in instances though i dont really know if its so much the new patch as squares problem with not having the server quality they should to actually host a mmo remember when you couldnt get in ak cause everyone was running it then they changed wp rewards to lessen the burden everyone is hitting the servers for coil leviathan and the new dungs so think its just over loaded just like there is lag now in alot of the starting areas with how many people are now running fates over and over so the starting areas have a ton of traffic and it will prob be this way for least a month or so unless they are expanded on

I can play just fine on the world (Shiva) but once I get into an instance all hell breaks loose.
I can’t even do a proper combination on my Paladin as of right now. People are teleporting all over the place and the healers seem to have it worst.
I had no problems with Coil and Trials, at least not yesterday until I logged out. However today I can’t play a dungeon instance without horrible lag that makes outright unplayable at times or at the very least unenjoyable.
It is certainly not my connection. I did not change anything and I was fine before 2.2 not to mention I’m on a 100mbit connection.

Me and my FC fellows had same problem on Ragnarok.

Yesterday we had incredible lag running Aurum Vale and Amdapor Keep, with our healer getting blocked while casting spells and other members teleporting repeatedly throgh the map.
Today morning I had the same bad lag running 3 Guildhest roulette.

Ridiculous amount of lag in dungeons. Everyone's complaining about it.

Fix your game seriously. I've never played an MMO with this many lag issues.

yeah Balmung & the duty finder server for it are lagging hard clocked 15 seconds!!!

Having the same issues here, on NA Cactuar. I'm playing on pc, boyfriend on ps3 and we are both having extreme lag in instances. Especially noticeable as a healer :(

Leviathan server. It's been impossible to do anything in dungeons after the latest emergency maintenance, the lag is unbearable especially with healing.

Should change it to emergency break down, not maintenance, its been like this since about 9pm last night and i bet it wont even be looked at until after the weekend, after we all work come home to relax and cant even do that.

This is the only mmo that has this much lag issues, if you dont start addressing it you wont have much of a playerbase left.

Its one thing after another for months now.

Some more threads are starting to crop up in the bug reports forum. If you haven't posted in any of them yet, might want to throw your 2 cents over there since they more actively monitor that forum for the dev team.
