Oversight with the new Challenge Log

It makes me really sad when I accidentally complete a challenge on my level 50 character and I lose out on getting almost 100k free exp for an alt class.

Please fix :(

Edit: upon further investigation I've realized that the only reason the reward seemed so large was that I was on my level 50. doesn't seem as big of a deal anymore.

After seeing the challenge log that was my concern. Im going to end up wasting xp on accident on my 50. I wish we could designate a class for the xp to go to and not just waste it on our 50s.

Well you get free gil.

Besides this is mostly for new players or players who are behind anyways and won't be useful for most vet players until a new class is released to start leveling.

just let us "click for collecting reward" that why we can switch class and collect the exp/gil

I dont understand the exp given for level 50 quests, when the level cap is raised I get it, but for now, its a waste

Or make it do what DR does, and convert the xp to something else if youre at 50.

Do we really need the game to hold our hand on this?

It should be if you are on a lvl 50 class that you should get more gil instead of xp, since it would be a waste to get xp on a lvl 50

It's probably setup this way for an eventual level cap raise, but I agree that it should convert over for now. Maybe they can recode it to give xp later.

I'm not sure I understand your stance on this. The fact that things completed here can go to waste means that they are NOT holding our hand. This is a good thing IMO.

It's not that huge a waste, since according to the patch notes the log resets along with everything else each week. All the rewards will be available again.

I find this more as a early release.

Ya they could have waited until 1st expansion when the cap is raised but it would be better to release now for the new players now joining via PS4 release and for people who are a bit behind content because they just returned or have not face planted their face enough into this game.

I'd love a sub-section with "challenges almost complete", so we could check if we're about to obtain a particular one and change our class accordingly. It helps players but it's not hand holding.

I agree, like maybe Gil or Company Seals.

Or a Prompt telling us so-and-so action is about to complete a Challenge.

Or a Prompt letting us pick which of our classes the award goes to.

Poor implementation honestly.

I don't imagine it was intended to be a 100% efficient exp source. If you're leveling a class, sure, you get full value from it, but if you're playing your 50, well, it's not intended to really do much. The Challenge Log is just another way to gain exp for leveling.

I see no reason they should alter it so you can constantly play on your 50 and then shift the challenge exp to your lower classes. You could level your classes without ever even 'playing' them, and how much sense would that make? Working as intended, and doing a good job I'd say.

i agree with this. a little common sense and attention to detail from the people complaining about the wasted xp, SE shouldn't have to hold your hand through the whole game.

Why the hell did they even design it to give exp to a lvl 50 0_o ?? That there tells me the system was slapped onto the game as an (unfinished) filler mechanic. Hell they could of easily changed it to SEALS. Numerous other rewards that would of given SOMETHING as a benefit. No... they did experience as a reward... to a level capped character... *headdesk*

It's a concept called future proofing - That way they don't have to unnecessarily go back and change stuff when they raise the level cap or bring out an expansion. It saves money and time and every single developer does it that plan their game for the long run. The MAIN issue is your exp doesn't even go to 1 till next level, you stay at 0/xxx for level 51, otherwise the exp would have went towards capping off that level in preparation of the level cap raise.

If you know your log will give you exp, why would you do it with your level 50? Think of it like the hunt logs, aside the company log, do you kill the targets when you're level 50? Or do you do it when you're leveling? The challenge log does have some "cross objectives" where you'll likely end up doing some on 50, but this is what people mean by paying attention.

The exp rewards scale with the level of character so you wouldn't be able to get the 100k exp for a low level character anyways. Have the challenge log open and switch classes and you'll see the difference.

Future proofing is all well and good but this is today. So right now, today, as the game is designed...no. If they can adjust how much exp is buffed based on level, then they could of easily sit back and thought for 2 seconds "wait, people do like to play and run around on their level 50 characters. maybe we could give them a reward as well?!". Seems like something like this is in duty finder...

Then (when/if the level cap is increased) they could "patch" the system to give exp to those little lvl 50 scrubs.

The only scaling that would happen is the gil, and if they scaled that up any higher they'd inject quite a lot of gil into the economy and further destabilize it :p so there's really not much they could have done for 50s. It's mostly there to help out people still leveling and even though it's getting top heavy, still plenty who need to level.

The most interesting thing there is the exp reward and it kinda pains my heart everytime i see the reward pop up with the 80k exp... for my max lvl character. Well at least now i know it resets every week so i can do all of them first before jumping back to my lvl 50 next time.

Maybe they could give us a option to "stop" the challenge log from registering progress so we could have more control of when we want the reward but i don't see this happening.

The EXP scales with the level of your current class. The Challenge Log also refreshes each week.

Honestly, Im Glad people don't get the choice to pick a class for it. There are already enough "bad players" for jobs, We don't need people saving challenge logs, and dropping a ton of exp on one class, bringing it up to super high levels and them not knowing how to play it. The last thing we need is a bunch of people handed lvl 50 classes running around doing thinking they know how to do their job.

Because it scales, level 50 jobs should get tomestones.
