Yes but I have a feeling will get it when the 1st expansion pack comes out
There's to many speculation going on. It can also b said for a corsair/ranger(gun base) job since the leader of limsa is a corsair. Also limsa is a port city so there's another speculation for a Viking type job.
That doesn't really mean much they say a lot of things in the story.
What I WOULD buy as evidence would be the correlation between that statement and the fact yoshi said they have a roadmap up to 3.0 which would mean they would have the ability to appropriately set up things for future updates
After all of the QQ over new jobs, I don't think this was an accident. The people who write these scripts are not that naive to basically say "I will teach you to fight like this as soon as I can." when they don't mean it. The rage that would ensue would probably top any other rage since the first 1.0 server merge.
That aside, as someone corrected me in my own topic last night, even though she fights like a ninja, her armor is eerily similar to Assassin:

Well thief could b a class the merge into 2 jobs ninja/assassin
would be nice that if this time thief is the advanced job of something.. not a pre requisite like it usually is, usually is like thief -> ninja... but something like someclass -> thief could be very interesting.. i think?
Doma was castle in FF6 where the Samurai were located; although her dress and fighting style clearly indicates Ninja, and they set her up with the thieves guild which is a pretty clear indication of what is coming since THF -> NIN is in pretty much every FF game with a job system. I also swear that I remember the Ninja's from final fantasy tactics (which 14 pulls a lot of lore from) came from Doma, although I can't substantiate that its just vague recollection.
I wouldn't be surprised that if we get the Musketeer through a patch mid-way through 2.0, some where around 2.5 or 2.6.
When the expansion comes out, and subsequently 3.0, it will probably open up Doma to us, and with it we will get two new classes possibly 3 classes, and a new race.
Thief/Ninja seems pretty obvious right now; I know Yoshi-P has mentioned something about a versatile caster (something like Red Mage), and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they also include Samurai.
Please look forward to it.
Muskateer has been confirmed but while it hints to thief/ninja this has not really been confirmed yet.
Sure hope so however, i sure want to level a new class to 50 :D
What about Ranger? Archers need ranger as a job choice
I'm guessing a lot of people posting here haven't actually done the quest yet because this isn't just speculation based on a character having dual daggers. Yugiri explicitly states she is going to train adventurers in her combat style and offers to teach your character once the guild is set up. There's no question about it here. Expect to see mention of this in the next live letter.
Yea, I sort of think the reason they haven't officially commented (aside from the obvious reactions) is they already had the story scripted to tell us. Now that the cat's out of the bag we will probably get drips of more specific information as dates draw closer. The previous comment about visiting Doma seems interesting, the Garleans destroy it but still could be used for a dungeon type instance (like Lost City) or even a future raid (Binding Coil of... Garleans?) XD
I'm hoping for a ninja/samurai addition. The quest where you fetch armor scales hints at samurai, given the construction of traditional samurai armor.
I'm also thinking it'll be Ala Mhigo before Doma, mostly because Ala Mhigo is on the same continent, but also because I don't think we'll be returning to Doma until the player base has had a chance to train with Yugiri.
My guess is this patch is the "setting up the guild" patch. One or two big patches later, the guild is set up and it's time to train, because you must know the ways of Doma before you can hope to survive there (or something). So we'll train with Yugiri while also working towards liberating Ala Mhigo. Soon after, we'll get a patch where Yugiri deems us "ready" to fight like a Doman, and thus we go to retake and rebuild Doma.
All speculation of course.
So true! Let bard be the "support" job and ranger the reaaal dps. Long bows, short bows, cross bows, maybe even guns.. I doubt they'll do that since every other job then needs multiple weapons to chose from in order to avoid massive QQ.
Other jobs already have access to multiple weapons. Gladiators have swords and daggers. Both Conjurors and Thaumaturges have access to one handed weapons (and shields) and two handed weapons.
However, guns will be going to the long-promised musketeers. So those aren't going to be an option for an Archer-derived job.
I hope that they release more then 3 classes in the next expansion. Seeing as Musketeer and Ninja are very likely (thats 2 dps), it leaves us with only either a new tank or healer if there will be only 3. It'd be a lot funner for everyone is there was a new class for each role.
The one guy was right about the armor scales part of the quest though. That does hint to Samurai. And considering that box was going to Mor Dhona, maybe the Samurai guild will be constructed there?
So we are going to get the 'Scout' class Yoshi wanted to get in the game, no real word or hints about Musketeer... Samurai had very subtle hints and may not come around for a while yet itself. Well, this will be an interesting year.
Has anyone thought that although they might release a new dps class, wouldnt they have to release a new class for each role? Could you imagine how many less tanks or healers we would have with JUST a new dps class.
Hmm, well that might happen to some extent but I doubt we'd have new classes until at least the first expansion. I'm sure that'd add a ton of new content for the dedicated tank player base to plow through before choosing to play an alt.
I'm also half expecting them to introduce some new secondary job options for all classes at some point and if expansions are as large as they make them out to be then I wouldn't put it past the devs to implement them at the same time as new classes. Tanks/healers would then stick around to lvl those alt jobs.
Ideally, Ninja would make more sense as DPS, with Samurai as the tank (I'm thinking like Auron from FFX). Musketeer/Corsair would be its own class/job, and Ranger would make for a great physical-oriented branch class for Bard (maybe lose the songs, gain more offense/defense/aoe techniques)
I really would want Red Mage as a job to be based off its own class, but a GLA 30/THM 15/CNJ 15 could work too. As for Blue Mage. . . LNC 30/THM 15/ARC 15? (I don't remember enough about Blue Mages)
Yes, I believe they would have to. It would make sense that if Yugiri is going to teaching people some of the skills from her land that other skilled masters from her city may also come with her. Other than that, I think that it would be a good way to try to keep things balanced.
I went back and watched some more of the cutscenes with her in them, and it makes even more sense that we would see more than 1 new class/job. Yugiri mentions that she is looking for a place to bring her entire race to. They are looking for shelter from the Garlean empire. It also seemed that this would happen sooner than later. After watching the cutscenes again, I'm not quite sure that they would be able to drag this out until an expansion.
I, for one, have been doing any T1-4 groups I can get myself into because of the idea that they will use the same stat paradigm as they did with launch. Meaning that it seems unlikely they will add another primary stat into the game just because they are introducing another class/job.
The hints about Musketeer have existed since 1.0. The "visit all the guilds in the city" quests that were part of the level 1 through 10 LL storyline in 1.0 included a quick trip there (which ended rather suddenly when someone recognized your shooting style and threw you out). In ARR, the Marauders Guild was moved into the same building as the Musketeers Guild, and sharp-eyed players will note both the guild symbol hanging outside the Coral Tower, as well as all of the necessary supporting NPCs for the guild inside.
In short, Musketeer doesn't need a "new guild in Limsa Lominsa!" story segment because the guild has always existed in Limsa Lominsa.
I have a feeling that they are going to make a base class of Rogue, and then two jobs for this class. Thief and Ninja, in which Thief will be a melee dps fighter, and Ninja will be a melee dps caster
why musketeer :( why not make Pirate! it's a Pirate town! Pirates use guns! lol
rename Marauder to Viking
Again, the Musketeers guild is already in the game (even though players can't yet join it). It's the "missing" third class guild in LL (note how both Ul'dah and Gridania have three class guilds, while LL only has two). Pay attention when you visit the Coral Tower, and it is blatantly obvious that the Marauders share that space with the Musketeers. And it has been repeatedly stated by SE that Musketeer will be the first class released. And then there's the Admiral's obvious skill with pistols in the 2.2 battle cut-scene.
In short, Musketeer doesn't need anything further. It's been broadcast in fairly unsubtle terms since ARR went live. The new class hints in 2.2 are for jobs that have as yet not existed in Eorzea.
We need a stealthy hunter of the wilds type class, an ambush predator so to speak.
I'm really hoping Ranger will be added and will be along those lines.
You are acting as if I am oblivious to these things and do not know them. I started as a MRD, I saw the signs. And the Admiral cut scenes mean nothing unfortunately, because to me, it was the equal to this.
