You should probly lay off the moko anyway. however, i do agree about the starting location. you should be able to walk onto the boat when you board and you should be under the deck once the boat ride loads.
i feel bad for yoshi-p i know if i had to come clean up tatanka's mess i'd do it but you best believe i would want a sign on bonus.
I do miss the days of running onto the deck and into a Sea Horror.
And pirates.
I miss the pirate attacks. :(
oops beaten to it :D
This all came to mind just the other day when I was walking to Limsa after some leves at Horizon. I like to save anima when I can, so I will walk a little more often.
And all this started coming to mind. There's also a severe lack of scenery! I remember when going to Al Zahbi, the one part of the trip I remembered were the two rocks that had all those seagulls on them. I heard stories about people seeing whales (Bismarck?) too, but that I never got to see. Then the trip by sea to Nashmau had it's own sights off in the distance.
What we have here in FFXIV just feels so empty :( I can only imagine it being fixed for any future implemented boat trips.
BOat ride now is a joke. BAM!
I do miss the dangers of riding the boat in XI. In comparison the boat ride seems rather dull aside from the occasional thunderstorm that occurs in the area. It doesn't have to be just monsters that occupy passengers, we could have a card table or something where people could play a competitive minigame on the lower deck. Maybe play for gil? Pirates like to gamble right?!
YES! Finally someone brought this up. I was going to post a thread on this but forgot when I went on vacation.
This was something I enjoyed immensely when taking the ferry in FFXI. Either random pirate attacks or someone fishing up a huge beastie. Make it something that drops some good loot and you'll have a reason to take the ferry over and over. Also, they could make it so that different weather effects (fog, lightning, etc) indicate when the mobs are going to spawn.
Yes, the ferry needs more life! Merchants selling fishing bait or the odd item. The passenger room could be a wonderful den of activity, Triple Triad, a casino, betting on which monster will spawn next on deck (for that matter, wave after wave of frenzied monsters racing across the deck, attacking anything in sight), giant sea monsters, rescuing stranded ships, pirate ships, ghost ships, or any number of interesting things they could add.
They should pack so much goodness onto the ferry that players will not want to get off, riding it back and forth just to experience and enjoy it all.
Because there are more important things to fix right now over a useless cosmetic change.
I know reading is hard, but if you go read through the dev posts, and even interviews, you'll find that they are aware of this and plan to do something in the future
bahaha I'm not going through all those posts! Maybe if they had it to where you can sort through the dev posts by language I could probably have an easier time finding it
Anyone looking for specific links to addressing this can look here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...4906#post84906 and here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...4548#post84548
I know the topic is a repeat. But with a bunch of these complaining topics here and there I wanted to lighten the mood on the forums by coming up with a funny little story and I'd rather see some chuckles out of it instead.
Moko Grass?! Hahaha, that's kids stuff...
It's all about the Shriekshrooms... @.@
I hope they make boat rides more adventureous. Very boring now. If its raining i go below deck and chill on bench, otherwise i might craft or fish a bit.
~Airship fights would be neat thing too. Doomgaze was always on of my favorite FF encounters.
It's not a cosmetic change honestly, it's actually a system change overall.

Things that are done with FFXI's Airships:

(aside just taking in scenery from city to city)
XIV's airship won't have..anything (confirmed) at initial implementation, so there are indeed important things to do first, but it's not a mere cosmetic change, the ferry is pretty...underutilized and done all around.
Waiting for: "But ferry is free at the moment so don't complain!!".
Unless the "new" maps are remade and have a use for a ferry, that airships do not cover the travel route and anima system changes, I don't see them re-working the ferry anytime soon.
Even more since there are more important matters that make people quit this game at the moment.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! I'm not that crazy to possibly send myself to the mental ward!
About airships, I'm curious to how they're going to be planned out. I can't remember where I saw a post about it (cookie if anyone knows and finds what I'm talking about), but it was discussing how airships weren't going to be a black in and out zone and at the same time said something about it wasn't going to be in it's own area when traversing.
I remember taking boat rides as a lower level in FFXI, I would be afraid to walk up top if I wasn't with someone I knew that had raise. Heck I was also afraid someone would aggro something outside the start room, drag it inside, and then die and have the thing unleash hell on everyone else in that cabin room.
I loved that feeling. Felt like I was a weak little traveler cowering below deck and hoping one day to become strong enough to venture out into the open and breathe in the fresh sea breeze without fear.
I also loved the feeling of being one of the earlier high levels in our AF and having the lower levels peek out of the cabin and gaze at us in awe, because they felt safer with hardened warriors around them.
Felt more immersive.
Is it just me or am I seeing things?
When I watch the cutscene video of boarding the ship at Vesper Bay, I can see my character walking up to the upper deck while the guy on the cliff waves farewell to us. So of course I'm on the upper deck rather than below.
As awesome as the ultima/omega and tenzen fights were I hardly think you can include that in things that were done on an airship because they were so out of the norm. Unless you failed those missions you never fought on an airship again, and even then they were story quests that took about 100+ hours of playtime doing previous missions to get to. Any other airship ride was about the same as the boat rides are now, except they only lasted like 4 minutes.
