DPS Meele Allagan Gear not shared. Why?

Second: This is probably a cry-post.

With the new patch (2.2), the Allagan jewelry for meele dps from Coil2 will be reworked into one set (Slaying (Like Hero's) ) instead of the Maiming and Striking from Coil1. BUT, the "armor" for MNK and DRG is a different set, like in Coil1, and my question is ¿Why?

All the jobs with their counterparts (PLD <> WAR, SMN <> CAST, SCH <> WHM) share the gear (The BRD has to wait until a new DEX job). With their Allagan drops they equip 2 jobs. This should be a no problem, but when you look further, you will see this problems:

- When joining a party, they have the flexibility to come as WAR or PLD ( I'm gonna use the tanks as example). The meeles can't, because they have a need to invest the double tome or materials for crafted (Darksteel vs Gryphonskin) or have the best luck on drops on coil.

- The meele are a bit "excluded" from parties mostly because there is a tons of ppl that suck as meele or because the boss mechanics are less easy with a meele, and now, to be "i110" is gonna be more complicated because its only via drops.

- For more personal problem, when you're on a static set, usually choose a Main and a Alter job to loot with. To be the "best" role (meele in this case) for the pt, the meele should be have both DRG and MNK to pick the best for the turn/boss/etc. Well, in the end I only loot for two jobs, when the most people loot for 3-4 (there will cases of BRD with a Meele Alter, but i dont know none).

- And again, there is the RNG drop of Coil. In Coil1 you can compensate this with Myth ( I'm i91 with both DRG and MNK, but I'm still missing the Allagan Visor of Maiming). But you need to expend more Myth than a Tank because there is 3 sets for them (Allagan(shared), AF2WAR and AF2PLD) and the Meeles have 4 (ALLG+AF2MNK and ALLG+AF2DRG). With 2.2 this will be more accusated because ALLG>TomesGear.


The only explanation of the people who see this to be fair is the difference between MDEF and PDEF, wich IMHO is shitty.

My guess is because monk armor is generally thought of as a cloth or leather, and dragoons wear almost plate-like armors. Maybe it's just a lore reason, but I would be a little upset to see a monk in shiny metal like the dragoon.

Edit: I was not aware the monk had nearly identical Allagan pieces to the dragoon! My mistake! And it's quite upsetting >.<

You do realize this Allagan gear was the exact same design? With like a different color collar or something?

Drg armor and monk armor doesn't have the same stats... Drg armor got high defense and poor magic resistance when monk armor is mostly balance ( like bard) and got different Hp pool

Visually the Coil1 set for both are essentially the same, just the name change.

Please, read all the post, at least, the last part.

The only thing I dislike about Mnk and Drg (and Bard) loot not being shared is that they get a huge advantage with our current RNG system:

Paladins lot against Warriors
White Mages lot against Scholars.
Black Mages lot against Summoners.

However Bard, Dragoon, and Monk don't have to lot against anyone. Any loot that drops goes straight to them without contest.


Therefore It'd make sense to DOUBLE the rate in which Tank, Healer, and Caster gear drops. Something like:

For every 9 pieces of loot that drop:
2/9 Tank gear
2/9 Healer gear
2/9 Caster gear
1/9 Bard gear
1/9 Dragoon gear
1/9 Monk gear

You have two tanks and two healers in every party (some have two casters.) It only makes sense that those specific sets should drop twice as often since they are shared sets.

Gear, while it doesn't outright say it on it, seems to fall within the "plate, mail, leather, cloth" categories.

Plate: PLD, WAR
Mail: DRG
Leather: MNK, BRD
Cloth: WHM BLM SCH SMN

DRG and MNK have very similar stats, but different armor types. Allagan gear between them might look similar or even the same, but that doesn't mean it's the same armor type.

I think it would be fine to make tank and healer stuff drop more often.

I'm not sure about caster stuff. Many groups would benefit from it dropping more, true. However, not everyone has one of each caster in their raids.
I think maybe a better choice would be to make physical dps share their armor among them. They could easily put dex on the monk/drg gear as well. Dex wouldn't benefit melee and str wouldn't help bard. So there is no harm in their gear having dex and str.
I don't think it's the best option though, but by the numbers it might be fair.

But it drops 1/2 as often as Tank, Healer, or Magic DD. You will see (over a great sample size) 2 Tank Chests for everyone 1 pair of MNK legs in T1. There is no real direct advantage in terms of frequency of winning loot based on statistics.

I would agree with this however:

My experience in 4 months using T4 as an example gets in the way.

Myself and at least 3 other groups have never seen Allagan Sollerets Of Aiming drop once. Yet, every healer, tank, and other DPS got their drops. My group's completion order was literally: Tanks/Maiming, then Healer, then Striking.

Now that 2.2 is here, the only reason I will grind T4 is for easy mode myth and helping others. Why bother getting the boots now with more options out there, unlike before.

I guess another factor to consider, that is often overlooked:

Tanks and healers are more desirable to take to pugs. Dps are easy to replace/find so they probably would have a harder time to find a group. And any overflow of unneeded dps gear often goes to the tanks/healers.

When talking about your static raids though, I agree it isn't fair to them to have doubled up class's gear drop less often.

Speaking of which though. How do we even know that tank/healer drops are the same drop rate as dps drops? This issue might already have been addressed and we would have no way to know. It just "feels" like tank/healer stuff drops the same as dps items. Granted, it probably is the case that they do drop with the same frequency.
