Skill Changes I'd like to see in 2.2

Prior to 2.1, I remember there was a thread about Warrior that Prompt a response from Yoshi-P himself listing all the changes to warrior planned for 2.1 . The thread caught fire, Warrior went berserk and alot of Paladins had a knee jerk reaction.

Post 2.1, after testing we realized SE did a great job and all the overpowered talks of warrior have ceased.

With 2.2 10 Days Away, SE has been really quite about how they plan on tweaking the classes (If they plan on tweaking at all) (Maybe they have and I just dont know it). I hope they do. Skill tweaking is the closest thing were going to get to new skills until they raise the level cap and add new abilities, And although SE did a great job of balancing and improving QoL, there are a few things that can be tweaked. Below are changes I'd like to see come 2.2.

Paladin


Hallow Ground: Make it truely instant. Can't tell you how many times I pop Hallowed Ground only to still die before the effect takes place. If they can cut down the animation of overpower, they can do the same with HG.

Shield Swipe - I think this skill would alot more useful if it were off GCD. I'd gladly take a reduced potency to about 50 over the current version for 2 reason. 1: It has a short window of use and you can often miss it if you have alot going on. 2:Since its on the GCD, If it procs multiple times, you dont want to use it everytime unless you have huge lead in threat as it is a lost in threat.

Warrior

Holmgang: Holmgang tries to do to much. The animation looks cool, but the skill itself needs to be revamp.

Suggestion: Remove the self bind and you are unable to die during holmgang. Duration 10secs. Holmgang self bind is its Achilles' heel, especially since most bosses are immune to it.

Storm Path: The changes to Storm Path was much needed. But removing it from BRD to WAR was in a way a nerf. Sure BRD's Rain of Death was expensive as hell TP wise, but at least it was AoE and not gated by a combo. Garuda Extreme, and Turn 4 Double Dreadnought are times I miss the Old Rain of Death. Instant Mitigation vs 7.5sec+ Delayed Mitigation (Depending on how many mobs you wanna apply it to).

Suggestion: Make the Damage Reduction a Self Buff (Like Inner Beast) instead of a Target Debuff Or Move the Damage Reduction effect from Storm Path to Overpower or Fracture. If it were moved to Overpower it would be instant mitigation on all mobs, and if it was moved to Fracture it would be semi instant as you can rotate thru targets and apply it.

(Other Class Changes)

SCH
- Make Whispering Dawn a Better AoE Heal vs AoE Regen & Reduce the CD. SCH fairy should compensate for SCH weaker AoE Healing. WHM has 2 Powerful AoE Heals + A Single Target Regen all with 3sec CD or less. SCH has 1 Weaker (Front Load wise) AOE Heal, and 1 AoE Regen with a 60sec CD. Big Gap there IMO.

SMN
- Enkindle; More of a fix than a tweak. Don't know if this is just me but there are times I hit the ability and the ability cool down starts, but nothing happens.

-Blizzard; I actually like Blizzard > Thunder. I just wished they didnt nerf it before giving it to SMN. Would it be too much to ask for the old Blizzard (100 Potency vs 50). I might be reaching here.

Thats all the classes i can speak on, I havent played the othere class enough to comment on them yet. My BRD/DRG/BLM are hovering around 30.

Shield Swipe doesn't break combos, not sure what you are talking about. The potency nerf would have to be large to justify it being off GCD(this would also get rid of our best source of TP "management", so maybe not best idea). If you actually meant Shield Bash, then definitely disagree, it's heavy TP/combo break/on GCD properties are there to balance the fact it is a stun with no cooldown.

Agree on Hallowed, but not just it, any instant should be instant and not rely on an animation. There are tons of examples, on nearly every class, but especially melee/tanks since nearly all their skills are instant. The wind up and threat/damage delay on Butchers and RoH get old just by themselves. Big cooldowns like Hallowed/Benediction suffering are much worse.

Honestly I think balance wise they are in an incredibly good spot right now though, so I'm weary of too many big changes. The main thing I'd like to see, beyond the animation stuff, is a reworking of Cover. For a job skill it's extremely underwhelming, and outside of a few very small examples near useless. If they insist on keeping the current effect, it needs to have much longer range and needs to take your mitigation into account. Personally though I'd prefer they just scrap the effect and try something else. Maybe a line aoe that projects from behind the player, those that stand in it take damage based on the PLD's mitigation. I don't know, that could be unbalanced, but they really need to think of something.

Good Catch, I guess a better way of saying it would be since its on GCD, it is a Threat lost if you use it early in the fight. The window of use could also be increase. I've edit for clarification.

Totally agree with the Hallow Ground, that delay needs to go.
Same with Spirits Within, it makes it extremely difficult to use.

That's sad that peoples think Foresight not need to change, awww WAR need more love

How about a tank's massive life quality improvement?
1. Add renewed vigor to cross class skills (hey the worst thing for tank is when ur TP runs real low without anything to recover TP at the cost of lowering ur threat).
2. Remove PLD Shield Bash off GCD, reduce WAR Brutal Swing animation to instant, reduce Brutal Swing cd to that of Shield bash cd
3. Add a new skill that its heal potency is equal to STR or STM stats value which cost MP (as of now spamming Flash and the pitiful Cure drains ur MP).
4. Fix unclear ambigious stats as HOW MUCH or HOW OFTEN parry or shield block strength or shield block rate mitigates incoming damage.

As much as I'd like shield swipe off the gcd I don't see it happening, or honestly any changes happening to paladin in the near future. Both tank classes are in a good place.

Actually Shield Swipe has nothing wrong here as it already off combo so you use it, combo still up and continue as you see fit

Its good already, add off GCD would make it sound OP and unfair for WAR I guess

Otherwise, make WAR Inner Beast off GCD and we deal :d

Just don't wait until you're already dead to pop Hallowed Ground. I feel like it's the way it is to reward foresight and not just let you use it as an emergency escape button for any situation.
The problem with Shield Swipe right now is the pacification effect. It should be on the GCD as that way it helps with PLD's constant TP, just switch the Pacification to some kind of defense reduction debuff so you have a better reason to use it whenever it comes up.

Your suggestion for Storm's Path is silly though, if you move the damage reduction to something else, Storm's Path goes back to being useless. Overpower and Fracture already have uses, while most people didn't even bother to put SP on their hotbar until now.

And try using Rouse with Whispering Dawn, it pretty good. SCH isn't supposed to have the same raw healing output that WHM has - if they did, no one would bring a WHM.

Please, for the love of God, make the Oaths persist through death. I am sick and tired of being reminded to pop it again after the 5th time we fail at Turn 4.

Give Infuriate (the best looking buff) the cannot drop below at 1hp effect. :x

It turns into a 6 minute cooldown when it prevents you from going below 1 hp during say a 10 second duration (and for the rest of the duration).

Please SE... Invulnerability at 1hp isn't as practical as plain "INVULNERABLE ...to most attacks"

As a person that plays both Tank and Healer. I will have to disagree with you on this one. I feel the old Rain of Death was way better than the new Storm Path and the damage reduction effect would be better served if it were added to Overpower.


1. Since Threat is the Tank 1st Priority, Unless you have another Warrior in the Party applying it from the start for you, your looking at least 10-20sec before you even have the threat buffer big enough to even start your SP/SE Combo's. Even Longer if you have good DPS in your group.

2. Since it was Nerf from a AoE Mitigation to Single Target, Thats a Huge lost of Mitigation that we will never see again. This impacts things like Big Pull in Dungeons, AK/WP Speed Runs, Turn 4, Garuda Extreme etc. I dont care how good a Warrior is, its impossible to keep Storm Path up on 3 or more targets while effectively tanking. Heck, When im on my healer I rarely see other Warriors use Storm Path, even on bosses. I see more Storm Eye's than I do Storm Paths.

3. Justifying Storm Path would go back to being useless is not a great defense. Theres a Video on youtube of a Warrior Beating the First Boss of WP with mostly Storm Path . Besides, every class has their fill of useless skills/spells....some more than otheres. SE can tweak them later down the road but my point was that the mitigation would be better on a AoE Skill.

I know and I Do.

Only thing WHM has to be jealous about SCH is with a Crit Adloquium, and ofcourse SCH almost infinte MP.

Even if Whispering Dawn was a Better AoE Heal, WHM wouldnt have to worry about SCH stealing spots since Whispering Dawn has 60sec Cool Down, while Medica/MedicaII Doesnt. And Although Medica vs Succor effectively have the same potency, Medica is better when you need that HP Back ASAP (e.i earthen fury). Medica is also cheaper and since Succor doesnt stack, in situations like Titan Stomps and Turn 2 Enrage, 2x WHM will be better than 2x SCH.

WHM have nothing to worry about.
