I'm excited!
Well, we do know "Battle on the Big Bridge" is in.
Always room for more, though!
Yeah, I think they're just meaning FFV's Battle With Gilgamesh/Clash on the Big Bridge for Gil's upcoming battle. But if there are other classic FF tracks coming too, even better. :D
Yeah "Battle on the Big Bridge" will be it I'm 100% sure and they haven't even revealed it yet! Lol.
the black mages version of Battle on the big bridge is awesome :3

Battle on the Big Bridge is confirmed at the end of 2.2 trailer when they reveal Gilgamesh battle will be a Trial.
The short 10 second of the music remix lives up to the legend.

After watching the trailer again, I realized what they could be saying as 'classic FF music' is actually the return of some more 1.0 tracks (specifically, Beneath Bloodied Banners, the old battlecraft levequest 'tension' track from 1.0 seems to be returning as the theme for Halatali HM, as least if the video is anything to go by). I'm hoping more 1.0 tracks will likewise continue to return as well (still holding out hope that Piece of Mind, The Forest's Pulse, The Seventh Gate and Navigator's Glory come back later on as well.) :)
Yes
And the Brayflox's Longstop HM get Fury, the old Behest phase 2 music (the part where the last enemy poped up after all the others got defeated)

Re-arrnged nonrock versions of 1.0 tunes would be great.
It's such a crime to humanity that Uematsu was replaced by Soken :(
Hm, I dunno.. I like most of ARR's music, I believe Soken also does a fair bit of those? I think he's awesome in his own way, too
ARR is 2.0, no? I know most songs are still Uematsu and he's like my idol for life, but I mean there's not really any songs in the game I hate, so I like Soken's music too.
I never played 1.0, btw. I know my favorite music from ARR is by Uematsu, it was called Steel Reason if I'm not mistaken (the CM livia fight)
Yeah, Steel Reason was Castrum Novum's original theme (the open world Castrum dungeon.) So some of the returning tracks from 1.0 were purely Uematsu's work, think Soken only did the stuff found in patches 1.2x+ like Garuda, Job quest stuff and Darnus Phase 2 song (Rise of the White Raven which was reused for Gaius without the lyrics.) He does indeed compose for ARR, thought you meant the returning songs were what Soken did, which the ones in trailer were Uematsu's.
No, Nobuo Uematsu made 1.0 tracks sadly they totally removed them aside from few remix.
Also Akihiko Yoshida is no more the art director of the game (and in fact all the new areas are really poor in design, they are just full of things, even the sky has too much stars now and can't compete with the high level design of 1.0).
btw, "Battle on Big Bridge" was actually not Gilgamesh theme, but it was actually on event where old Galuf tried to escape through (yes) big bridge before it collapsed. At least, that's how I remember from back playing FF5 on old SNES that day.
But it became popular that it was dedicated as Gilgamesh theme on later series.
This bgm sure makes me miss that old geezer though. Old protagonist guys throughout FF series always has very kewl moment especially when they're dying. XD
Not totaly.
There are still a lot of them ingame, only replaced

Yeah, making artworks, not caring about the design and feeling of the areas and characters like he always did in 1.0. Basically, not as art director anymore.
Since now, all the new areas are not signed by Akihiko Yoshida or even Minaba. But I hope he will be there again as AD for 2.0 first expansion pack.
Terra's Theme for Magitek Armor mount. I really want it... there's even a formal request about it! And I would like to see an orchestal arrangement of this theme:

Some Hitoshi Sakimoto participation wouldn't hurt too. :P
Here you have it ^^

It's such a crime to humanity that you wrote this. It's hilariously bad, but still bad.
Soken is the very first composer/arranger worthy of being an equal to Nobuo's work on the series. He respects Nobuo's composing style when rearranging his works and when creating original work he brings excellent ideas to the table, worthy of a mainstream FF title.
You clearly have no idea of what you are talking about. You want "your" 1.0 back, but stay away from stating such things.
If there will be classic themes, then I want the original composer for that. : P
Maybe they will call back Uematsu a day, who know.
To show you the huge downgrade FFXIV ARR OST had since Uematsu is gone, click here and enjoy. (Limsa Lominsa Theme, 1.0, Nobuo Uematsu).
Hm? You are wrong, though.
Limsa's theme in 2.0 serves its purpose. It's not the "same" Limsa - it's a Limsa after surviving the Calamity. It's a damn good composition as well. You don't just slap anything "even if it's good" - you need to work closely with the lore team.
Do you want polka on the saddest moments of the game? Would be hilarious, but wouldn't be the best vehicle to transpass the sensation.
Force Your Way for Diabolos fight please. :D
In other words, since the huge downgrade of design and feeling for all the areas, let's take the OST to the same level or Uematsu work will shine too much. Good, because the only thing 2.0 has better is the drag and drop UI and just few things more.
Like I said in a long discussion in this thread
we really starting to regret Tanaka and 1.0 too much. But this is another topic I will leave in the other thread, not here.
And here we are: no one saying Soken is a new entry, but saying 1.0 Uematsu OST is ways better and the way and the background Final Fantasy fans wish to enjoy their adventures online.
We're talking of the FF music soul since the first one came out.
Keep calm and live the fantasy, even if there's no more fantasy in 2.0.
Ah, so when you say his work is worse than Uematsu's, it isn't a compar-
Oh my, I've been trolled so hard by someone using the "mirror" tactic.
It really is quite funny how almost every thread ends up with a battle between egos...
To say Soken's music is a downgrade I think is not fair. I love Nobuo's music as I've listened to every game's music he has ever made and I'm super nostalgic about his tracks and think he's the best in the industry. But Soken is making the music for this game, and it is beautiful too especially his remastered renditions of previous classical tracks. He admires Nobuo and I respect that, he can make the music, it fits the series. If Nobuo or him make the music, I'll be a happy FF 14 gamer, they both do a kickass job.
Of course it is! : D
I am not asking you to not compare them, this is a forum our life is comparison, I just meant there is no comparison between 1.0 and 2.0 since it's obvious imho that 2.0 restyling is a huge downgrade both for music and design.
Now, your opinion can be different and no problem I respect it, but for me Akihiko Yoshida as art director and Nobuo Uematsu (but I can say the same if the game was different and we had as composer Kumi Tanioka, Yasunori Mitsuda or the great Hitoshi Sakimoto) means top class design and OST. And 1.0 tracks prove that.
For a bigger vision, FFIX and FFXII are my favourites team ever: the first (and I agree with Hironobu Sakaguchi's words who said IX was his favourite) is the best FF ever and the second one has the higher design and gameplay system of the entire saga.
Opinions. ; )
It's time for you to stop, then, since both sides stated their "opinions". You need to say "you don't like". You need to stop saying "it is bad".
And you did, when you came to attack Soken's work in an innocent thread about an interview with him.
You actually didn't even read it, you just wanted to spill your poison and make propaganda about your bad thread.
The interview actually further proves he is an amazing composer, that respects and loves the series and thinks about the music.
Seriously, are you trolling?
If you are it's not fun: when an interview and the respect and love for the serie makes your OST a great work and a better work then the previous one?
Stop playing the fanboy scene and making your replies full of insults, I have enough, I am here to say the classic FF themes need their own composer and how 1.0 music and feeling was ways superior (and I am not the only one).
Discussion closed, for me.
Finally, the troll is leaving.
Back to the interview...
It has some pretty cool insight on Titan's theme composition style. Kecak dance rhythms and variations really make me think about that battle and the context.
(Which is, by the way, another mark of a great composer to glue those together)
Actually, not really. If you have ever played early Seiken Densetsu series, notably Secret of Mana (SD2) & Seiken Densetsu 3 on SNES, they do have very heavy reference to that kind of music. I know since it is one of my country's main heritage. :)
Here is an example of one of boss fight from Secret of Mana that uses heavy Kecak theme:
