No Odin suit for j00. Also no escaping tin can armor. But you can be a snowman 24/7?

New article makes things a little more clear. You can use glamours on multi-slot items, but you're only glamouring one slot (e.g., the body on body/head pieces). And you can't use multi-slot items to cover single-slot items (so still no Odin suit for j00).

My question is if the Glamour system can be reversed. Let's say I like to look of full Onion Set more than the Wyrm Set. If I "glamour" the entire set to look like the Onion set but grow tired of it after awhile can I revert the glamour and get the looks of Wyrm back?


I've played many games in the past where this "fusion" is permanent and can't be changed back thus basically losing items.

I want to know if we can reverse the mirage effect. If you do the mirage thing on your Allagan, you won'T be able to come back to the allagan skin anymore? :(

With myth being uncapped in 2.2 you can get beyond tin can pretty quickly or skip it entirely.

Edit: Not an issue. New info shows you can cast a single armor piece over a two slot piece.

I can only use the decorative version of an equipment on a real piece of equipment that is the same or lower level? Does that mean I can not make my level 50 equipment look like my level 45?

you can, but you can't let your lv 45 equipment look like your lv 50 equipment.

It's the other way around. You can't make level 45 equipment look like level 50 equipment. In the letter, he gives an example of glamouring an Allagan Robe (i90, level 50) to look like the Coliseum bra (level 40something).

I think they said that after it's "copied" you can then store the item in your retainer. Meaning it won't be consumed..

the way i read it was you could not glamour your level 45 gear to look like a level 50 gear.

side note.. crafting gear glamour'd whm (^.^)

I would like to know this, too. Would be nice if it could be reverted back.

I am quite a bit disappointed that I wont be able to use this Odin sword while leveling up my Gld and Pld. :/ On the other hand, I will be using the hell out of my FFXIII ice axe when I level up my Mrd/War. The only question I have is once we put an item in the prism slot, can we remove it to give the base item it's standard appearance back without damaging the secondary item so that it can be used in multiple prisms as we level up.

I want to keep the lvl 13 FFXIII axe as my weapon's appearance all the way to 50.

I think what's way more interesting is that we now FINALLY got a date for 2.2!

Jokes aside, can someone read the options the screenshots give you. Obviously one says "Glamour" or whatever it actually says in Japanese. Perhaps one option is to "undo"?

EDIT: Ah Sith Spit, there is an entire Mirage Prism window...well guess we just wait then.

Yeah. He said you can put the item you copied the appearance from in your retainer, as someone pointed out. So the only thing destroyed in the process is the item that is used to "paste" the glamour.

That much seemed obvious. The question was if you wanted to return your gear to normal, how would one go about that. I mean, unless they also make a Negate Prisim like they do dyes, which would be logical...but then again making only the party leader able to initiate a Ready Check was logical as well...

Another boring patch where is more content? 24man raid for free companys and another 8man not just extra turns.

I am assuming that we can somehow remove the glamour effect on equipment to revert it back to their original form.

It really just copies the appearance of another gear without losing any of the equipments. Not being able to revert it back will cause conflicts with rare/unique items where we can't get a second one to supposedly revert it back.

Anyway, I can't wait to have my character wear the stuff I actually like in combat and still be effective. I do however hope that I can use my trademark shirts to overwrite pld armor. I hope they only limit it by items that can be used by the class/job itself. And not by type of armor.

Example of what I'm hoping is still possible:

Sipahi shirt (a fabric body piece)
Classes: pld/gla, mrd/war, plg/mnk

Valor Cuirras (a plate body piece)
Classes: pld

Just hoping that it won't be pld plate stuff can only be replaced by pld plate stuff armor. Or I'll be really sad.

Will i be seeing Snowman fighting Titan EX or is it only for the individual player? Can i turn that off? :/

While I know it was never said it would be added I was really hoping that we would be able to use trade skill outfits as well as long as you had the current tradeskill class.

To be perfectly honest though, there have been plenty of times characters had done things in crazy costumes or looking quite bizarre in Final Fantasy. For example, the mere existence of Quina Quen. And because the Snowsuit actually does exist in Eorzea, it's not far fetched for someone to decide "I'll be the snowman of justice!" and go out and be a snowman of justice.

Honestly, instead of this whole "Prism" whatever feature they should have just implemented "Vanity" slots where you just drag over the "Looks" pieces and you can freely remove/replace the individual pieces.

That happend to me one CT run over DF, one lancer was all snowman shouting funny things.

Some ppl got angry and some laughts. Anyway, he got kicked.

I believe they already stated that it's one prisim per use. Presumably so you have to keep buying prisims (and thus crafters have to keep making them) if you wanna keep changing your look.

As others have mentioned, the question remains regarding the gear being glammed up. The gear being copied (i.e., the gear you want the visual appearance of) can be stored in the retainer, but there isn't any mention of removing the glamour. A similar system was used in GW2 but you were left with one piece instead of 2 identical pieces.

I'm a little disappointed with the vanity option. It doesn't really fix what many consider the uglier options in game-- tin buckets and cowls (e.g., DL fending and DL casting). I would have loved to have been able to trade out DL Fending for Calvary or DL Casting for Acolyte..

I really hope it's not as annoying as materia melding where you would have to buy a certain prism by crafter type that the base item requires. Bleh. I just want to be able to buy a thing and use it without the hassle of bothering a crafter or someone I know who has the specific crafting class needed.

My bet is something like Dyes. Crafters makes the, and you use one per item you want to customize. And probably like someone said there will be one "remove glamour" item.

Same here. Its just another PS3 limitation IMO. Vanity slots = more UI elements, and theyre already full with the PS3. Using the prism probably just pops up a confirmation menu or something. Vanity slots would = another tab in the character window and/or another icon. Doesnt sound like much but when they remove things like focus target on PS3 (and were only able to add it if it toggles the exp bar) because of memory issues, it becomes a problem.

IIRC they stated that there would be a tiered prism system, like the carbonized matter. But you won't need the crafter to apply the prism to gear, just make prisms themselves.

Although I'm not going to be one to obsess over the glamour system in FFXIV at all, I am disappointed in the way this is going to be done.

I had hoped that they would take a page from the way DCUO does "styles" as it gives such a level of flexibility and uniqueness to how a person can make their character look.

In DCUO if you obtain a piece of armor and equip it, you forever have that "style" available to you as an option to wear while keeping the stats of your current gear.

It's the simplest implementation of a "glamour" system, and offers the most customization to the player.

In order for this to be fair, they would have to make it so any class/job can glamour with any type of armor. Otherwise, you plate people would have access to a lot more options than cloth wearers.

Note: I actually think this would be a good thing. There should be no armor restrictions.
