with the new ilevel coming, what will happend to the old content like wanderer or amdapor? i means actually it's quite easy... with higher ilevel it will pose no threat at all.
i really begin to think that they need to add an Ilevel Sync.

move on and get on with the newer content? I mean that's a trend for MMOs nowadays (not sure if it's a good thing though), older contents are being left out for the new comers while older players don't bother with it anymore.
Inb4 : LFM i100+ for T1-T5 /Ex primals"
Cause of Mirage prism.
the point is more, let's say the new ilevel cap is 110 in WP and AK you drop ilevel 55... 2 times the ilevel... you can't expect the monster to offer any challenge.
it's as good than go with a level 50 into totorak without a level sync.
add an ilevel sync will be a good way to keep every old content still challenging. even stuff like BC T1-T5 in 1 year will be destroyed by people with stuff of the 3rd or 4th tier.
you know if you want chalenge you can still run things with lower level gear.... just cause your ilvl 100+ does not mean you cant put your AF back on and run entry content at its normal difficulty..
This is why they periodically add a difficulty tier to each dungeon like the current and upcoming Hard Modes. This will likely happen with every dungeon to an extent. It would be neat if the Extreme tier for each dungeon opened up the entire combined map (though Haukke HM obviously didn't open up much that wasn't already reachable). Having a huge sprawling Copperbell or Tam Tara to hammer through with a 120+ min timer would be pretty cool. Make it a 4 or 5 boss dungeon.
The new mainstream.
All content is negated every 6-12 months.
It is a horrible trend which literally every major mmo developer out there has adopted.
Just remember all your work is for nothing.. and try to have fun knowing you are wasting your time on harder content when you could do it later with little to no difficulty and no absurd lockout restrictions.
@Xatsh if you play for gear alone yea that would be the case, or you get the people like me, who want to be ahead of the curve, i play for progression, gear is a biproduct of boss kills, not the main point of them. If you play vertical progression mmo's but get butthurt every time a new tier comes out your gonna have a horrible time
Its the speed. The faster people are able to devour content, the faster they need new content to keep them entertained. New content has to regularly (though not necessarily always) obsolete the older content in some manner, else there would be no reason to do the newer content.
Would anyone be happy if the new HM dungeons dropped i60 gear (same as the current HM dungeons) but are as much a difficulty increase over Pharos as Pharos is over WP? Would anyone really want to bother with WP if the new HM dungeons dropped i70 gear, 100 philo, 50 myth, and 30 newtome, and was equally easy as WP?
If it ain't an upgrade in some manner, people aren't going to bother with it. If it IS an upgrade in some manner, then its gonna be part of obsoleting the older stuff. Plain and simple.
thou i agree on the poster above where it stated the dungeons should have a sort of ilvl sync :P
That content is going to be pointless anyway since you can spam new dungeons and get better gear even faster, presumably the new dungeons will give myths + the new tomes, so philos are basically trash now and full i90 will take like a week or less
Like "WoW"? No Thanks... Each 3 months grind new content and all your actual gear is obsolete. That was my reason for quit WOW, is annoying....
I hope in this game we have longevity in the gear like in FFXI. After of 3 years your coil stuff be on pair with the new stuff released.
Not the "Best" but more options. Example
Lets say a Warrior Body. All items ilv90
Present
50 DEF. 18 VIT - 15 Parry - 10 STR
New item in 6 Months.
49 DEF. 24 VIT - 6 Parry - 9 STR -
New item in 12 Months
55 DEF, 21 VIT - 23 Parry - 4 Determination
New item in 2 Years
46 DEF, 10 VIT - 25 STR - 20 Determination
This is Horizontal progression. You have situational gear and you are not forced "GRIND" the new gear.
If my Warrior Have all the bodies, i can use the bodies depending the battle. If is a Really easy battle, i can put a DPS body for help speed up the Run, if is something like coil i will be using the more VIT and defensive capabilities. If the party finder comment say ILV90 only i can join with my arsenal of gear.
Example with WOW.
50 Def 15 VIT - 15 PARRY - 15 STR = ilv90
New body in 3 months
60 Def 20 VIT - 20 PARRY - 20 STR =ilv 100
When the "Party Finder" comment say ILV100 onry, i will be FORCED get the new body each 3 months, this kind of vertical progression is annoying for my tastes.
The people will stop of play the actual content and focus only in the new content 100% (Sorry but i dont want play Leviathan for 90 days everyday, i prefer play one day titan, one day garuda, one day coil and one day leviathan). Taking FFXI as example, in FFXI you could use Nyzul, Salvaje, Einherjar, Sky, Limbus, Legion, Sea and ZNM gear.
If each 3 months, the dev team would release "4" New battles at quality level of leviathan then yes probably i could tolerate that WOW model, but the Dev team is releasing cotent really slow.
I would put the hands to the fire, if Yoshi-p copy and paste the WOW gear model into ARR, this game will lose a Huge amount of players. Lets dont forget probably 40% of our playerbase JP/NA/Eur are players came from FFXI.

content still challenging.

hmm what, dont we have what we call horizontal gear wise? Myth X Allagan
You kow that this model is also a grind model, but a way more boring one ?
Present : have to grind for it
6 month : better stats, have to grins for it
12 month : better stats, have to grind for it
2 years : useless as the mechanics of the game are evolving in a way that you are forced to swap tanks for 2 tank stuff. Overgear solves it a bit but not that much. Thus tweaking your health for a minor damage upgrade is useless. I can stop subbing as I have nothing to aim.
Now compare it to current model :
present : some stats. I grind for it or I drop one in Coil
6 month : better stats, appealing. grind for it or drop in coil
12 month : better stats, appealing. grind for it or drop in coil
18 month : better stats, appealing. grind for it or drop in coil
and so on. No gear becomes useless 1 day after released, and we always have at least 2 options to gear up (not counting the craft as they are 1 tier late, but are really fine to prepare for new content).
tl dr : if any horizontal progression, release more equal gear in every new tier (ie, every 6 month) or in the 2.3, 2.5 and so on.
As long as they don't force you to wear other gear you currently have on. If they scale you back a couple of item levels, it's okay. It would suck if one had to wear crappy DL stuff for example..
To be fair the ilv sync is not a bad idea. Not to make dungeons more "challenging", but just to prevent a full on curbstomp, "I'm spamming heavy thrust only and still winning". That's the exact reason for level syncs, so I don't see that as a bad idea.
Cap pre-2.2 non coil content at ilv95~100 or something like that. We can still overgear them a bit more than now, without making it an absolute breeze. That would also prevent the average PF group from increasing their ilv requirements too much.
Myth gear is just welfare gear allowing really terrible players to be geared and appear like they can actually do the content the gear is required for. Allowing players to get high tier gear without any skill is a terrible idea.. The Myth gear should at least be a few Ilvls lower then Allagan to make the difference.
The OP brings up an interesting point. Yoshi-P likened ilvl to character levels, lv60 + ilvl40 = lv50 + ilvl50. With that said, should end game content like dungeons have an ilvl sync?
