When will more Grand Company ranks be added???

When will more Grand Company ranks be added? I've been at max rank, with max seals for a very long time, and nothing worth spending seals on. The highest ilvl gear from GC is very under leveled.

It isn't even worth getting the level 50 GC set as you can earn tomestones of philosophy so fast now , that it makes more sense to spend a couple of days getting the far superior darklight set instead.

There is hardly anything that makes a character's starting nation choice relevant at all now.

Since the current GC gear caps at 50, logically any GC rank raise will come with higher level gear. And since they said new jobs will come with a level cap raise, you should look for new GC ranks when they announce new jobs. Likely all three will happen at the same time.

Not necessarily the current level of the Junior Officer items is 50, that is true. But the lower ranks have gear for all types of classes, DoW, DoM, DPS, Tank, exc. The Junior Officer rank only has very generic gear, more vanity then anything really. I could see gear added, at level 50 also, but more specialized. It is possible I think as we also have two ranks to go before breaking the JR officer set, namely 1st Lieutenant and Captain.

Who knows, maybe that Chocobo Respec everyone wants will be a Captain Rank item.

if we are lucky they will raise it with this 2.2 patch (not saying they will) just saying with the new dungeons and new ilvls and i90 being normal then it would be pretty smart to up the ranks for better gc gear.

it is entirely possible, we only know of half of the content being added in 2.2, and we will hear about the rest on the 21st.

remember we don't hear everything in the live letter just the big attention grabbers its the patch notes we will want to see, and man will i love looking over them just like the patch ntoes of 2.1 like a gitty school girl

Considering the Grand Companies now have very little to no bearing on the plot at all after the initial enlistment anyway, rank increases are a moot point. I still hold to the opinion that if I wasn't forced to join one just to continue the main storyline or use a personal mount I never would have bothered (I never joined one in 1.0 for that reason). Sure some of the gear is nice, but it's still just unnecessary padding to the story.

I hate to say it, but there is virtually little reason for the Grand Companies to exist gameplay wise now - their whole story reason for existing was purely for the Seventh Umbral Era to plug holes in manpower numbers in the leadup to the Battle of Carteneau (ala, filling gaps in their forces with adventurers), so their time in the sun has well and truly passed.

Besides, I'm an adventurer, not a soldier. If I wanted to be a soldier I would have joined the actual army! :p

I too would like to see more ranks added in the future, but I am in no rush and look forward to their eventual unveiling. I personally enjoyed attaining them. :)

I stand by my statement. You'll get more ranks when they raise the cap. There are actually more ranks that we don't have access to than we do. You can see all the unavailable ranks if you click on your own rank in the character screen.

I don't think it's unlikely as the myth cap will be going away. They'll basically be handing people ilvl90 gear at that point. I don't see why they couldn't implement an i70 GC gear so as it's not completely irrelevant. It seems silly that they won't be implementing new ranks for what, a year? Since they won't be raising level cap til the expansion.

Yoshi: First of all, we are planning a new race for an expansion pack. For the classes and jobs, we will introduce them through patches because all of the Legacy players have level 50 jobs anyway. When we introduce new classes and jobs we will probably increase the level cap at the same time.

More recently it was said level cap will come with expansion pack I believe.

I'd assume the ranks perhaps have something to do with Frontlines...

Hopefully not. Should not be required to do PvP to rank up.

Seems to me that as time goes on the GCs will drift further apart, becoming more hostile to each other in preparation for Frontlines stuff. It won't be all out faction based based PvP of course, since that's not this game's focus, but Frontlines may just be an ongoing 3-way battle for control of a certain new region in the game

I hope when SE decide to add more ranks , they will also add more "importance" to GC's as it was in 1.0 ;)

They can add more ranks and then add a battle activity cloned from treasure hunt for the GC.

-Players go to the GC base and receive a military order every X hours
-Form parties and set out to problem areas
-Patrol around for garlean army
-Find them and eliminate them
-Repeat for as many dispatch orders available among players
-Return to the GC and report and receive high ranking seals
-Exchange high ranking seals for a 3rd alternative endgame gear (allagan/myth/gc)

Maybe add a medal system too for minor out of battle boosts (movement speed boost in uldah if you're a high ranker in uldah, affiliated npc shops sells things cheaper, etc).
Bring back companions from 1.x too. This time you get one as your subordinate from the GC.

They never assured, only mused that a Class/Job release would also release more levels. This doesn't seem to be the case anymore though. There was a mention that the next Level cap raise was with the actual expansion, but the first new Class/Job can still come before the expansion which isn't scheduled to be done until at least this winter based on the current time progression and a hint from the last live letter on how they see the speed of patches being done.

We could end up with a new Class and Job in 2.2 or 2.3 and then the new Race, Level Cap and another set of new Jobs/Classes in the expansion as well.

I don't believe there was confirmation to this either. It is currently the most supported rumor because of mentioning and hints in the last live letter I believe. Time will tell, but common sense would put a Level Cap with an Expansion as Expansions typically are new chapters in a game's story. They tend to add as much content as a brand new game does so a new level cap on expansion makes most sense. New Classes and Jobs before expansions or between expansions would play into better favor with the players though~

Well whenever they doing it, they need to hurry. So I climb to the top and rule over uldah GC , muhahahaaaa , then I can tell what's his face what to do lol .
