I'm white.
Black
Probably because my parents are
lol. Human, cuz they're sexyhawt
Yea... In all seriousness I went midlander because most FF main characters would be most like midlanders
Unicorn pony.
Lalafell, after playing hume in xi i guess i wanted to be play les serious this time so i picked cuteness.
Wolfie.... will you be my sleipnir?
Miqo'te, because I was a Mithra in FFXI, they are adorable and I don't like the hyur female animations.
I'm a Lalafel. Because in the FFXIV promo's they looked creepy, now not so much {>,<} but I do like the 1st person upskirt views.
Lalafel, because I didn't know they'd be adding cleavage shirts to FFXIV.
I picked Lalafell because they are the cutest. There's no reason to explain further.
Lalafell, so I can practice my care bear stares.
Lalafell, because within our cute exterior lies an evil menace ready to do dastardly deeds.
Lalafell, because:
A: It's frikkin adorable
B: My character doesn't get in the way of stuff as much
C: I fit in people's laps
D: They make the best jesters
E: They have some of the best exploitable positions
F: Upskirts
G: They look so frantic when they run
H: I like their voices best, except that really deep and gruff one that is unfitting
I: Too many cat people
J: I disliked all of the human voices and didn't want to be huge
Hyur:
1.) Familiarity. When you think of the many characters that we've met in the Final Fantasy series, the vast majority of them are human, which is basically Hyur.
2.) Cute running animation. Not sure why everyone is hating on the running animation so much...sure, it probably is a bit silly if your character is a warrior, but for mages or crafter (like myself), I think it fits nicely.
3.) Quite possibly one of the best human female phenotypes I've seen in an MMO. Usually, we're stuck with almost Barbie-like figures, but the models for FFXIV are well-proportioned without going over the top.
4.) Elezen can be pretty, but their stretched appearance is a tad irksome to me.
5.) Lalafell are simply adorable, but I don't want their cuteness to be blunted by overexposure. Plus being that low to ground all the time would be annoying.
6.) Playing a large, muscley Roegadyn would just feel weird.
7.) We're not miqo'te. Somebody really needs to call Bob Barker and let him know we have a situation here.
Female Roegadyn
Hyur
1. Roegadyn are just too big
2. Manqo'tes are far too common... and attract furries
3. Elezen look like Mr. Fantastic
4. Lalafel are evil and must be purged
Highlander... Cuz I'm too sexy for my shirt... and pants...
I am a Female Human trapped in a Male Lalafell body, I'm waiting for my species reassignment surgery.
Miqu'ote on all mules.
Because I get my repairs done faster if I act clueless and end every sentence with "nyan".
Elezen
I played a Hume in FFXI, but after I moved on to other games, it was the Elves that usually had the most rich and compelling lore. They're what I usually play now, if given the choice.
Besides, the female Elezen in this picture just captivates me:

Highlander-because they look like sex on legs. Also Lalafells with pecs showing through their bellybutton-deep V-necks make me feel really uncomfortable.
edit: unless you look like the ONLY highlander avatar pic available here<------ I wouldn't tap that, no sir
Human, but I wish I choice something else. I was stupid and just choice anything. wish I could re choose my race ;_:.
Miqo'te, Seeker of the Sun. Because a catgirl swinging an axe is the representation of Chestnut Butter, which means "Godly Awesome".
Also, 'cause I had a story to give to some character of mine.
Roegadyn.
Because hell, someone has to.
Elzen Male, was my main character in XI and sense there was no Male miquote option I decided to carry over my character from XI.
I normally prefer the more agile looking races in games, but if thats not an option I go with the "Regal" guy. Man Elvaan in XI were total snobs and had the best STR <_< It was epic.
I decided to return to my roots as an MMO player and return to being a caster.
Since my wizard I made is a young age, I decided to go with Lalafel because they actually look like kids.
Not much of a choice though. All the face choices I have seen are so weird.
Midlander Hyur. Because, and I know it's silly, I try to make my characters in games look like me IRL. Though they always end up looking better than me lol.
Never played FFXI before just heard about it but couldn't get in because it was not available in my region or never will be anyway since they dont accept my credit cards ~_~
here i haz be miqo'te :3 because i like it and others doesn't seems to fond for me.. haha and well i have another sub-char Hume male xD
Elezen male
because characters dont look "cool" or "bad ass" unless they can walk down a runway.
uber powerful attractive people trump uber powerful ugly people at all times...
Ok... but why did you go for a goatee then? Isn't that already a tad behind the fashionQuote:

where you live?
Male Midlander Hyur. I spent days playing with the character creation in beta and could not find an appearance of anything I was happy with.
I was almost a male elezen before I noticed how fat their wrists were in proportion to the rest of the body.
I was never going to be playing a female character.
All the highlanders looked like they'd been dropped on their faces too much as children.
The facial features on Lalafells were too cutesy to make me take the game seriously.
Roegaydns didn't look like ripped muscular giants, but just big fat people.
The character creation options were too few so I just settled on something that didn't irritate me. The only thing I really wanted was a character with a good beard, but I couldn't have that :(
Im a miqo'te because i played FFXI as the same mithra for over seven years so im quite attached to my character.
I tried my best to make her a "reincarnation" of my old character looks wise. Too bad i had to sacrifice the cute keepers of the moon fangs to give her orange hair but well.

no, facial hair is dependant on your basic attire and bone structure, if you have no jaw line and dress proffesional, why wouldnt you frame your face with some facial hair?
in my characters case, its because of the original option the developers promised of us having an ingame salon... not an actual salon but we were promised ways to alter our characters features.
i chose a goetee because it was supposed to go with specific outfits i had planned, ones that didnt pan out so greatly.
fyi, his hair also sucks with some stuff that i wear.
Mi'qote, because they're the best race. That's a fact.
I was a Mithra in FFXI because I like the Thief/Rogue style of play, and that was the race optimized for that job. (Tank? Mage? DD? No thanks. :-)
I was leaning towards ♀ Plainsfolk Lalafell before friends told me they couldn't imagine me without ears & tail. If SE adds new races/sexes and allows even a 1-time-only change, I'll strongly consider switching to ♂ Miqo'te or ♀ Roegadyn.
When game released I was a Mi'qote but around December I deleted her to try a Hyur. (Didn't know you could have multiple characters then <_<;; ). I might make another character after these major patches.
I picked Roegadyn because:
1. BelgianRofl did.
2. I don't want to be mistaken for a Japanese schoolgirl...
Elezen. Elegance, and they seem to make the most sense appearing reserved and thoughtful.
