What vanity will your tank use?

Just curious what vanity items people are going to use when the new version hits this month.

I'm still trying to figure out what I want. Thinking something kingly for my Paladin.

whatever i can find that's the most ridiculous looking. most likely will include the snowman head =P

Pretty sure there will be restrictions such as not being able to use seasonal gear or gear outside of what the job can normally equip.

For me it will basically be picking a gearset I enjoy visually and mapping it onto the BiS I wear for stats :)

As for weapon - I'll probably want to go with the Zantetsuken for PLD :)

The odin set is my go-to for vanity. Though I feel as if they would put restrictions, this is SE we're talking about. If there is no restrictions I'd probably go heavy behemoth helm and chocobo suit.

...or it would mean that seasonal gear is seasonal gear. You wear them in town and take snapshots with them. You don't fight in them.

The basic idea is each job will still need to look passable as that job, thus restrictions will be equip-based with seasonal gear excluded. Simple and makes sense really, but still allows for a lot of freedom.

I hope I can dress up as Snow to upset all the FF13 haters ha ha.

Restrictions? Why would you put restrictions in? PVP, ok understandable, but beyond that, who cares. I've already done low levels with seasonal gear all the time. It made no difference at all. It's just fun and fluff, my two favorite things. That being said, I'll change it up all the time like I do my hair etc.

I'm pretty confident that, to prevent problems with models, you will have to match all slots for a piece of gear, which means that the Odin armor (which is the only chest/hands/leg/feet piece of gear in the game afaik) probably will not be able to be used as a vanity. I expect there to be similar limitations as to the classes required, so that you can't use all-DoW armor (which is basically leather) as a tank.

If we can vanity our weapons, I plan on getting this again since I think it's probably the best axe model in the game. I like the WAR AF2 gear most, with the exception of the gloves, which I'll probably replace with the DL gloves, and the boots, which I'm not really sure what I'd replace them with.

Sticking with AF1 for me (both PLD and WAR) - I hate how AF2/Allagan/DL/CT gear looks for tanks (which is half the reason I haven't even bothered with end game yet - end game tank gear is butt ugly).

I like the heavy armor look.

Think the only head armor that I have ever liked on tank (it isn't a tank piece) is the Cobalt Barbut. Just kinda has a mean look to it.

As for sword, I think relic is probably the worst looking weapon in any game EVER. I like the Falchion model or of course the Zantetsuken.

For axe, I like the Bhuj model.

If I'm able to vanity Snows outfit I'll probably go with that.

If not tjere is this chest piece I think drops in copperbell mines that looks pretty awesome.

I'm not sure why people are assuming there has to be restrictions to avoid "problems". Do you guys really understand how item skins work in games, or just making broad assumptions?

They wouldn't have to make any restrictions and things would be just fine. The only thing that -- maybe -- might be an issue is the combo chest and head pieces IF they are unimaginative in the implementation; but it's easy to accommodate if they just allow chest + head / Odin to over-ride any other graphics if that piece is chosen for vanity.

It's called a hierarchy. Certain items would have higher priority than other items. No big deal to implement, the game already works that way, over-riding the normal upper body and head graphics with the armor skin.

As far as restrictions go, we already know there will be restrictions based on what the job in question can already equip (ie. can't transmog mage armor onto tank armor, etc) and that seasonal gear will be restricted in some manner. Other than that, who knows?

As for the Odin armor though, I imagine they can simply make it so you transmog it to a chest piece and when said piece is equipped, it visually covers all other slots.

I'd probably prance around in Grand Company officer outfit on my warrior character. Always liked the Maelstrom red. Not sure what roe's paladin would wear. I'm guessing there'll be tons of Odin tanks about, so would probably want to go for something more original. I wouldn't mind tanking in crafting gear. I mean... SE already did the whole "fighting with a sword in a frilly dress" from what I saw in Lightning Returns wiki article. So it shouldn't be impossible, right..?

No in all seriousness I really like the AF+1 pieces, warrior ladies are some of the prettiest people I see, and I feel so pretty with my valor chest piece now.

Gonna go with full CT set with the ARR CE helm, that set was the only reason I leveled a tank tbh. Glad I did though :)

For my Paladin, I like the CT chest with all the rest being Myth. I'll also keep my Curtana and Holy shield looks as I love both. For my Warrior, the full myth look looks the best to be, so I'm going to stick with that. Since I'm currently wearing these exact sets, nothing will change for me, look wise. But, it will allow me to keep the look once I upgrade.

Assuming there are no restrictions, the Snowman head+Swimsuit.

Tell me that wouldn't be amazing on my Roe.

you have clearly not seen the screenshot of the leviathan axe. That is all.

I really hope not, as the pieces i have my eye on for vanity are either seasonal and/or cross job (although, like scholar to summoner). There simply isn't enough gear for one job/class to make it worth it in my eye, and the seasonal stuff is the most fun stuff.

Thinking of mythril cuirass, mythril gauntlets, boarskin subligar, and sabatons of light. No helm showing. If not boarskin subligar, I hope goatskin breeches will be available, though both items are DoW and not tank specific.

Lol i done some coil and some primals with some vanity body parts
(I.e the valentione apron, glacial coat, highlander hamock, maybe some swimwear. )
Not really a gimp if the other healers or in ur case are more under geared than u. So technically ur just dergading urself to the weakest stat link.

Might have to go with the "High Mythril Armor" and the Ancient Sword on my PLD. I'll probably go with the Darksteel Tower Shield as well

SMN to SCH is still caster gear. The job restrictions they mentioned were like putting mage gear (yay having full battlemage) on a tank.

Back when I used to tank, when I wasn't actively doing anything, I used to wear one of the bikinis (usually blue top/striped bottom), and whatever was my best of the basic arm/leg armor designs (steel, mythril, etc). Sometimes now, I still rock the class arm/leg armor, the coliseum bottom, and the black bikini just for kicks (again, this is when I'm NOT doing anything serious).

I'm really torn, I really like the lightning guardian corps armor...

but... I also like the Gallant armor (af1)...

but... but... i also like my bikini...

and the hoplite armor is really cute too... i... i just cant decide!!!

and what about the new armor thats coming out in the next patch... omg I don't know what to do?!?

For my Warrior I'm thinking of keeping the Warrior's gear, as it looks badass enough as it is. Only exception may be the helmet and I might go for one of the Barbut style ones, as they look a bit different to the Warrior's one. Weapon-wise either a Rampager or Garuda's Scream, probably.

For Paladin, the Gallant gear looks better than the Valor in my opinion, with either a Winglet (looks like the Master Sword!) or the Ancient Sword and a Scorpion Shield :D

for my WAR i dunno, i love the myth n allag. gear. For my PLD i think, i use the cavallry Set (lv34), check my lodestone profile. There u can see the whole set.

Really? I thought that was pretty cool haha.

On a side note I liked the mythril set (level 40, all individual pieces, not the head-body legs-feets combined set like Darklight) with a goblin winglet and a kite shield. Very Medieval feel.

Probably the Coliseum set (Galerus + Subligar).

Unless bikinis are available, but I think that's considered seasonal gear and probably won't be allowed in vanity.

Bikinis should be available. So far it is only stated that you can't cross jobs, such as PLD wearing BLM's gears, but whatever available for your current job to wear, should be able to be used in vanity (such as race sets, bikini sets and seasonal sets).

I've been trying to find some kind of knightly looking robe or jacket, but the closest I've found is Snow's chest piece reward from the recent Lightning Returns event. But it can't be dyed.

I hope there aren't a lot of restrictions on the vanity system. Otherwise I think tanks will be a lot more limited in clothing style variety than other classes. A lot of our low lv armor looks very noobish, or outright silly. And the higher level stuff looks very similar, with the exception of our i80 and i90 pieces, anyway.

Dark light isn't worth mentioning. I don't think anyone likes their character's face always being hidden.
