I was just curious what you all thought of this video.
Curiosity has the best of me. And yeah the video has been around for a while but I just saw it!

Maybe after a few expansions when there's a real variety of monsters and some lore to support it.
If this is true....well. Hot damn. I'll be excited O: Just dunno how they plan on implementing it.
This stinks of faked to me... i watched most of it and i dont believe i saw him learn 1 move... since he had them already.
system side it would be easy to do, Mob skills are structured in the same manor that player skills are. Just a mater of implementing a method of gaining said skills and attaching said system to a weapon. Would be willing to bet that its the reason that the whip class "flayer" is hiding in the dat's right now.
Enemy Skill Materia! MAKE IT SO.
I made the suggestion a long time ago to introduce Mimic as a Magic Class that learns Blue Magic then have its job it unlocks be Blue Mage.
Been hoping for the implement of blu in ffxiv.
yes please. do want.
Yes please. Blu will give me a lots of reason to take this game seriously again.
Not to mention it will probably OWN.
I would love to see a blue magic class introduced in this game since I started the game I have remade my character about 6 times because I feel the classes they have just don't click with me I always been a magic fan. I think that after SE finishes revamping everything and release the first expansion we can probably expect a blue magic class since its one of the most requested classes. In addition it should be easier to implant since most animations are already in the game as monster skills. All they would need to do is add a MP and/or TP cost, casting animation, weapon animation, lore.
He was half-trolling in that video. Yes, the skills being equipped were legit. In the first month of release you could use /eaction commands to equip any skills in the game dats and use them normally (albeit, most without animations assigned). He didn't "learn" them off the mobs, I thought that much was obvious.
Yeah, it's not fake it's not just a blue mage type system -- though throughout FF history blue mage learned in various ways, from defending to having to getting hit and surviving.
This games needs the classes it has now to be balanced first before we get any new classes.
Doesn't it break the armory system more then it does now? Since skills are independently equipped. Half the reason of blu's design was that you get a random bag of skills to consider.
It doesn't break the armory system -- It shows what a limitation the system truly is. FFXI's blue mage for example was only limited in the amount of spells you can have on at once as well as it's own capping feature (with the exception of Delta Thrust, most spells weren't as powerful as the enemy variation) which the armory system was made to go against such limitations.
i dont get your meaning, the implementation of blu in FFXI required they create a whole new subsystem within the standard FFXI system, because ffxi system was pretty limited.
If they need to create a new one for a new class, they will do it.
FFXI blu was also limited by level, and equippable spells, how does that not work with the armory system? hell it sounds like the armory system.
hit a certain level, have blue spells become obtainable, get spells, place them on your action bar limited by number of actions.
in case you r thinking there are too many blue spells... uhhh theres no limit to the amount of skills a class can have, mages often learn 2-4 skills every couple of levels.
there is nothing about the armory system that limits or makes blue not work.
I just hope the animations are better and have more depicting the blue mage actually carrying out the magic they're using. I found it lame when every blue spell was just seeing some lines and hearing sound effects instead of showing the blue mage actually doing stuff.
My very first reaction to playing FFXIV with the armory system, was thinking.. "Oh.. I get it, its just like playing BlueMage". If anything I think it would be pretty easy to put this job in somewhere down the line. I know that there was a recent article that listed some confirmed jobs, but I don't remember them saying in the translation when that was actually supposed to happen. (I admit I could have totally missed something)
My gut tells me to doubt that we'll be seeing any new jobs until PS3 is released. I kind of expect it to be part of the draw for new players to come try the game, or for old ones to try it out again when its ready to be re-released, much like how expansions did in FFXI.
Many would growl at that I suppose, but its perfectly fine with me. I am seriously thinking of starting from scratch at that point anyway, as I want to enjoy all the game will have to offer, while being at the appropriate level to enjoy it. I don't want to be at max on my favorite jobs when its finally ready, and its exciting to think that there will be a few "new" jobs to play with or work towards at that point.
