Rules for Entry
The screenshot must be taken by the user submitting.
Please do not submit images of only NPCs or backgrounds.
Make sure you character is visible in the screenshot.
You may use image editing software to crop your screenshots.
You may not use image editing software to alter, enhance or add more features to your screenshot.
Those are the rules right there, but if you take the time to browse through the lists of those chosen, it would appear that SE is not following their own rules. There are questionable pictures with people who aren't fully visible, and posting pictures of characters but they themselves aren't included within the picture and a few not following the theme. So I'd like to know how exactly these things are judged for one and do you the community think it's fair? Is there a better way to handle these contests? One of the entries had a photoshopped heart in it and it won.. I mean come on?
I myself did not win, but that may or may not be because my picture was considered shopped when it wasn't.

Now I'm not asking to be given any kinda compensation. They were picked and I can live with that, I just want to know if anyone thinks this could be better handled.

I'm gonna go ahead and bump this. I think people need to be aware of this when entering, I know it's easy to be a skeptic but please, take the time and look through the winners I am really not making this up. If they can't handle something as small as this than that is alarming..

Tabbing thru those winners is a pain in the ass... I don't think some of those should have won at all... They were simply horrible with no creativity... I seen a winner was just someone in the outfit laying in bed... But maybe they should let the forum people vote or the server people vote for fairness

One of these days SE is going to announce contest results and we won't have an "I obviously should have won, here's why I think SE cheated me..." thread.
This isn't as bad as the FC video contest with the "Why didn't I win by default?" guy... but still... -

I know you wish I was going that route but I'm not. Secondly there are people posting characters without themselves in it and winning how is that fair? I didn't win either and while my picture wasn't the best it was certainly better than some of the winners. I swear I think they pick a handful of sure fire winners and the rest are selected at random. It's also possible that since my forum 'main character' wasn't the right character at the time winners were selected that might have messed things up.

Even the FFXI weekly screenshot picks seems more curated than the screenshot contest here.
It seems like any sort of contest that has a inconsistency between the quality of chosen the winners, will receive complaints.
Maybe if the judges left some sort of comment on why they've picked it, people might not get as bitter over the choices?... -

I felt like a lot of the winners were questionable. I don't think people should win when their characters are so far zoomed out that you can't even see their expressions or anything. But hey, I'm not one of the people judging these screenshots for the contest, so not much I can do about it.
Every time we have a contest like this, there will be people unhappy with the results or wondering why others were picked instead. Dust off your jeans and try again next time!
(Also, your screenshot doesn't look shopped to me. Maybe the judges don't like girlkas...! ;P) -

So what is questionable about it then? The only thing you bothered saying about it was whether it "shows great effort went in".
You got upset because you didn't win. You went through every single entry nitpicking for an imaginary instance of SE breaking their rules. You accuse one of the winners of using photoshop to win and when confronted with direct evidence against that claim instead of admitting you may have been wrong and accepting the loss you go on the defensive over being "one upped" and decide to start questioning winners over their perceived "effort" compared to your glorious submission.
If you can't pick out where along that series of events you should have grown up then here's a hint... it's everywhere... -
