I just finished T1 and T2, and after T2 the Allagan Earrings of Striking dropped, and being a DRG with just the Darklight Earrings of Striking I was over the moon as I was the only melee in the group so I was sure to win them.
But wait... "Need" is greyed out and if I press X on "Need" it tells me the Earrings "aren't suitable to my current class/job"... WTF?!! I am the ONLY one in the group that could possibly roll "Need" and it's telling me I can't?!!
So I hit Greed and hope I get them anyway... WRONG, someone else gets them and I'm left pissed off because of some BS reason, what the hell is that about?!!
What possible reason could it have for NOT letting me roll "Need" when they are blatantly for MY class?!! :mad:

I could understand it if I was trying to roll "Need" on Earrings of Fending as it has Parry and Vitality stats not geared towards DPS but the fact that there is almost NO difference between the Striking and Maiming accessories they should allow for MNK and DRG to roll need on each others Accessories on drops or at least in situations where there is only 1 physical DPS in the Party that could possibly use it.

I'm a MNK main, if I couldn't roll Need on the maiming piece if it were an in-slot upgrade... I would be pissed.
This happened to our DRG in Coil the other day... it was her & I (MNK), I rolled Need under the impression we both could.
It was a minor upgrade for the both of us, I ended up winning as the sole-Needer... but had I known she couldn't roll against me I would've had us Greed-off.
I felt really bad knowing I rolled uncontested when I felt she was just as worthy as I. -

They need to just consolidate future melee DPS accessories into "slaying" like some of the myth pieces and the primal/ultima stuff.
Not to mention it's less redundancy in drops that would potentially annoy people. -

Pretty much they made 2 str accessories sets. If your a monk you can only roll need on striking if your a drg you can only roll need on maiming although they are viable on both str jobs. When EX primals came out they switched over to a system of having striking only accessories and both drg and monk could need on them.
Would be nice in future coil like 6-9 if str accessories have only 1 set so the loot tables aren't filled with them like 1-5. -

Coil striking and maiming accessories have different stats distribution, hence the reason most monk prefer to get maiming accessories rather than the striking ones due to the stats. If I pug coil I usually will mention that I would like to have the maiming accessories if it's ok but well it's not a static so you will always get some other class that roll against you all the time, that's how a lost a maiming accessories to a bard in one my run. If you run with static makes sure to let them know that you need that accessories but you can only greed it so get them to pass.

People often mistake DTR is more valuable because each point is greater, but it also enjoys a third fewer points on any item to account for this. DTR and CHR also both have diminishing relative returns, so getting either in whatever quantity is fine. True maximization is largely academic. Skill speed is the least valuable due to having no effect on autoattacks, DoTs, or any interval over which a jump is used (long animation cancels out value of skill speed entirely). All percentages are rounded weirdly but close enough. Keep in mind that DRG and MNK can only share accessories which are 5 pieces. BRD does not share with others. Since there are 4 DPS and 3 types (caster, Bard, Melee), at least 2 of them will have to share something, whether the gears or the accessories so I think it's fair that tanks get front loaded in turn 1 and 2 (cause they get hit) while healers are prepared by beating turn 4 (to heal turn 5). Turn 5, all jobs have similar chances. -

In retrospect, I suppose that's not exactly right. A couple things I'm not sure of are: does each chest have the option of dropping all pieces? If each chest had only half of the loot the 5 to 6% would change to 10 to 12% . Also I'm not sure, but would assume, that a particular piece can't drop twice, this would slightly increased odds of the second chest dropping the desired loot
