Linking Character Data to Forum Profiles?

Isn't it up still? I got no link screen or found the option at setings neither...

was hoping this to allow me using my character's lodestone image as avatar... ; ;

should go check JP side about this, some of them freaking out saying it's going to reveal their character name and they are going to get spammed in game... funny reading everyone crying about it over there. If you can't stick to your own word don't even post it on here... most likely the trolls in there are the ones crying.

They have no info on lodestone either when this change is going to happen, was thinking the lodestone update they had yesterday was related to this but nothing yet.

That's hilarious. I haven't seen anyone on the NA side freaking out and I could've sworn we have the bigger reputation as trolls. (Then again, we use alts.)

The same issue I have been reading on FFXI forums too >.< It's like they want to troll on here and then play another life ingame. I just wanna get this up so I can link up my new character as I don't play on Abithra anymore~

Yep I already posted that over there saying You guys need to chill, NA's are not even bringing this up as a problem.
It's most likely trolls from 2ch that never played the game and talking like a smart a** to all players/devs, the ones that are agreeing it's good on their believing it gives more responsibility to what you say in here.

For me... sure what I say I hold responsible for but damn man... it's only a game... don't need to go crazy over it lol.

Dunno if google translate will do the job over on the other JP thread but they have 2 threads going on talking about this, it's funny lol

They also have a thread open on what they think about devs just openly talking, and some saying Dev's should post in here to just talk casually... it's like WTH!? I want to see them talk more casual to the players, it lets us know how the devs also feel, play, interact with other stuff...

LMAO its Buchakke not Bukkake - to speak openly/casually or honestly

YoshiP stated in one of his comments on this forum that personally he's more open/casual but in front of interview he has to talk in a manner for the company.

Maybe they were just really hungry for udon?

And a search for the actresses from that commercial couldn't possibly turn out worse than FFXI Summoners doing an image search for their first avatar by name.

Reinheart, I'm so glad we have you to interface and post whats happening on the other regions forums. I truly appreciate the insight.

I personally have no problem with the character link thing. Hopefully everyone gets over it soon.

Us NA players like to brag about our exploits. No shame in that. No one else is going to toot your own horn. Hence the signatures with game stats. So half the NA community already knows the other halves' player name, server, linkshell and ranks. So it's no water off our backs.

According to elemen14, an excellent source of info on the JP side of things, these weekly forum updates happen sometime after midnight EST on wednesdays. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I hadn't heard that before. Take it as you will.

eLeMeN is really good site, they use to have button on the XI side for JP/EN I guess they took it off. Probably due to totally different quest/mission names... another problem SE needs to fix fast on the auto-translator they have in game... read on JP forums JP guys having problem explaining what guildleve's they are trying to do with the NA since the name is totally different.

Different names would be fine, but XI at least had the advantage of having numbered progression. "PM 6-4" means the same thing in every language.

I am a little disappointed in the way this linking data appears to be, but for now i would love to see further adjustment to it..

It's a bit underwhelming, to be sure. What's with the "pick 3 jobs" thing? That little banner doesn't show up anywhere other than settings as far as I can see.

Oh, I see. It links all characters on your account, not just the one you select.

I wonder why they made ugly little faux-signature images rather than just link directly to the Lodestone profiles. I mean, it's not like our names and worlds are hidden. If someone really cares enough to look at someone else's characters, does it not stand to reason that they'd care enough to check out that someone's blog and read their critically-acclaimed Tanaka fanfic?

Click Profile Name > Characters = All Characters on the account listed. No hiding at all. Good job SE.

You can still click them again to "blacken/darken" them to hide them from your profile. Just did so with my friends character on my account.

You have to leave at least one character visible, but it does let you hide your alts (or use an alt and hide your main).

I liked the changes...but i'm annoyed that even after linking the character i have this lameass avatar instead of my own character :/

If they hadn't my character image would be a thing...but heck they had it at lodestone since like ever...

I agree...i was hoping something more like these enjin sigs...but its that thing...the major problem is to implement it...once its live adjusting is much easier! ^^

Yes... SE is such a newbie when it comes to forums.

With the character name, world, and lodestone information, I can stalk practically anyone not on an alt. Sad...SE is going to get sued if it's not careful.

Good one SE! Next time I find a victim who's close to me, and lives alone, all I need to do is map his play schedule and act accordingly.

I see no real problem about this tho...most people wanted others to know who they are ingame anyway...at least 70% of the users have some kind of ID sig.

Now we need something similar to POL site so we can see gear too ^^ i liked that feature alot ^^

But yeah...would be wise of them popping an update at privacy part of ToS just in case since they turning public part of players' private info...better safe than sorry. ^^:

As a web programmer in the past I don't see what's so hard getting the images from your character into these forums... your character data, image is all linked from the game to lodestone, lodestone probably already has the data in some type of database such as MySQL or w/e... Some stuff really makes me wonder what the hell are the devs (in this case the web devs) are doing... Unless this forum's coding requires new features to be added as plugin's... still don't think it would be too hard...

It's not the main problem right now so I really don't care atm; too bad it doesn't show ALL your character info, mules everything... wanted to see how the JP trolls would of reacted on the forum lol. They would of probably screamed "I'm Melting!!, melting... melting..." like the witch from wizard of Oz...

Well in a place like NA and EU, it's less a problem, but in JP...well...let's just say physical retribution can happen especially when anyone is a couple of hours away..JPs should be scared of more then just "melting".

Lodestone is giving way too much information at this point, it's borderline dangerous.
