Philosophy & Wolf's Mark.

I've been thinkin other day.. At this rate a lot new people who tried pvp and felt turn off against rank 30 and etc, Since they basically have to grinding for mark to get start, Since everyone know Wolf pvp craft isn't that great.

So how about let us turn in Philosophy tomes into Wolf's mark to help people start somewhere, that way we can get more people interested into pvp, Same idea with us who dont need mark anymore but can farm it to turn in via Philosophy for stuff.

Thoughts?

meh idk philos are so easy to obtain it would make people dont even come into pvp arena and just grind out tomes to turn into marks and then come into pvp, downfall is that u will only be getting marks outside of pvp and no xp so u will still have to grind to lvl30. Might as well just face the music and play pvp and get xp & marks rather than just having to trade in tomes for marks and still starting at lvl1. This idea will be good for players who already r30 though lol will have all alts geared out in no time :)

Or simply make first pvp gear(ilv 70) also buyable with Philos. For example: "Piece x" 2750 marks OR 1375 philos(yeah i know that it's a lot but i think that it's fair enough)

Wut. If anything I think those numbers should be reversed.. It should cost less wolf marks but ALOT more Philos.. Since philos are so easy to get

As great as this sounds in theory, it would just give people even less of a reason to PvP. It'd be easier for people to just philo farm instead of pvp for marks/gear.

only gear u'll get to to wear is i70, i say might as well just face the music and pvp and u'll get xp/marks and one day u'll get to r30 and get to wear the i90 which is much better

That would be pretty neat, yeah

Honestly even if you gave new comers i90 PVP gear at the start they would still get stomped. 1000+ matches of experience and PVP skills make the biggest impact. The ppl that get turned off after losing 5-10 matches in a row will still leave.

I don't like this idea at all. Queues are bad enough without giving ppl alternate ways of gearing outside of PVP.

If pvp was objective based and had respawns then it would probably be abit more encouraging for other people to play rather than the 4v4 1 minute steamtrain

That's true :/
Shame that they didnt gave us pvp separated pve abilities as they said before ;_;

If they were to add a pvp daily system I could see there being an increase of users, even if only playing a few games at a time. They could have it for each bracket and just because of how dailies work psychologically, I bet we would see an increased pvp base with more frequent users, along with people who only do their dailies and then go back to pve (win-win, even if they play the 3 games it takes to do their dailies, that's 3 games they weren't going to play before).

man some 6v6 CTF/DOM that would be soo awesome

i think a big reason people dont pvp right now is they don't have the gear, and it's a big grind to get it. If you make it so ppl can start out with i70 pvp gear and at least have a chance you would find more people inclined in participting.

1 pvp match->5 min more or less(not the queue obviously)->100 marks
1 dungeon->20-30 min->100 philo
As you can see marks are theoretically easier to get, and you need them not only for pvp stuff. Also the limit is 2k, so you can't but a thing that costs more than that

Wut. Not sure about ur dc, but on our dc, queues are an absolute nightmare. Hence why I say it should be reverse. Day by day queues get worse, and Behemoth is the PvP capital for our DC so idk. Back then yeah I'd agree with you pre 2.15.. but now.. yeah

Another thing to take into consideration is that you will get 100 philos for that 20-30 mins no matter what and you can also queue with a healer/tank or w/e for fast queues.. But with pvp the more you queue with the less marks you get, and 100 marks is assuming u win a solo queue 50s match.

But in the end the idea of PvEing for ur pvp gear.. ehh.. plus as Luna stated, 1000+ matches of experience and pvp skills will still triumph over that gear

i am philo capped atm and theres nothing i want to spend it on, im sure lots of other people are in the same boat

It should just be more well known that lvl40 queue is great for a newcomer. 99% of the time when i adviced a newbie healer or whatever to go in lvl40 to farm up morale its a 'oh ok thx, didnt know that'. Nothing wrong with getting a couple pieces there and then moving to 50.
I dont much feel for giving too many reasons for PvE players to go into PvP, adding some sort of cross-currency. You will too often have ruined matches with total new players or people that would be grinding philos in pvp while watching a movie. Quality of matches has always gone down a lot when games tried this. Especially in a 4v4 situation as we have now. Perhaps i would like getting a gil reward though, and having that scale with your rank and the opponents rank. Meaning a newbie cant just afk there and get the same gil per match as a r30. But ofcourse there's always the botting issue. I've heard those were running rampart a few weeks ago.

Ok so for one this idea was in previous games that have pvp in them aka wow. With exchanging justice points for honor points only allowing you to get the lowest tier of pvp gear. Meaning it was kinda pointless to farm for gear that is not worth the investment on either side pvp or pve. Second and this is a big one people blindly que into pvp never reading any skills or doing any research and get destroyed. For 5 matches and then quit and say this pvp sucks but in reality its there own fault for not taking the time to figure out how skills work and how you attain them or complain at how cc is to strong. 3rd i would like to point out that pvp is actually very balanced between the class's the only downfall which is being addressed for 2.2 is matchmaking by rank and adding rated pvp. I wish people did more research before they post topics or complain about things they don't take the time to understand.

Just que 30-40s only until you get gear/skills. Problem solved.
