Official World Transfer Service Announcement (10/24/2013): Questions

The announcement refers to "Official World Transfer Service Announcement (10/24/2013)" for guildlines, but I would like to know:

1) Data Retained After Transfer: Gil (1 million gil per character, 100 thousand gil per retainer) => Is this still true for transfers from Legacy to non-Legacy worlds?

2) You seem to be able to rename your character if the character name already exists on the new world, but do you have the option to rename your character even if it doesn't?

1. I'd think so, way round this is make 7 alts, give each 1mil and take 1.2 using your main char

2. As far as I know you only get a rename if yours is taken

I just transferred yesterday and for your first question yes i believe that would still apply going from Legacy to non-Legacy worlds, i was a little over 100k on one of my retainers but i didn't bother to log back in to fix it since it was a minuscule amount anyways.

And for your second question....as M60 said you can only rename your character if there is already another player on that server with the same name as your character, and no option to rename if there isn't.

if it's important for you to rename. check the name on lodestone and if there isnt one with that name make a char on the world you want to transfer to with the name you have. it will then force you to rename. otherwise just transfer and keep your name. easily done :)

Haha this is what i ended up doing, i didn't like the last name my toon had soooo....

What world do you aim for? Some of your ffxi friends are on coeurl, in case you arent set on a EU server.

It's $18 per transfer according to that page. In other words, $18 per million gil you want to bring with you.

question #3 is the only one I'm interested in.

Question:

How does it work if you transfer 2 characters with the exact same names into the same server?

Example: Cloud Srife from sever A move into server X, and Cloud Strife from server B also moves into server X. Both are your characters. How would you make sure that the "right" character keeps his name? Lets say you want the one from server A to keep the name, but change the name of the character from server B.

Also, How does it work if you already have a character with the exact same name in the server that you are treanfering to?

Example: You made a Cloud Strife in server A, maybe you play with it, maybe you didn't. Now you want to transfer Cloud Strife from server B into server A, BUT you want it to keep the name. If you are willing to delete Cloud Strife from server A, so that your Cloud Strife from server B, gets to keep his name, do you delete the one from server A AFTER the transfer or BEFORE the transfer. Meaning, do I still get the chance to manage my characters once the transfer has been done? Will the "renaming flag" go away once you delete the character causing it?

In the case of you having two characters on different servers with the same name, if there is one that you play with the most and like that name move that one first. Then move the second, and then the second will get the name change option.

Look carefully at your example, you answered your question. If the server B character is the one you want on A with the name from B, delete the current character on A first before you log in with character B.

this is false, its $18 per world(up to 8 chars) to world, not 1 char per transfer

Swill no answer on #3? They obviously have not updated the information on transfers page cause it still says you cant transfer off legacy servers.

Well... it happened what I feared.

You gotta delete the char BEFORE actually applying for a transfer.

So for my example, I transfer Cloud Strife from server B to sever A then log in the game. On the character selection screen I see that Cloud Strife B requires a name change, and I proceed to delete Cloud Strife A. However, Cloud Strife B is still unplayable until I change his name: clicking on it, I get a window to type in a new name. Even if I delete and retype the name, since is the same, the "Accept" button is greyed out.

So the "correct" way of doing this, was to risk and delete Cloud Strife A way BEFORE doing the application for the server transfer. *sigh*

So all I did to make sure I get the name I wanted was for nothing !!

EDIT: Yeah. Looks like money grubbing SE is making us pay because they screwed up bigtime.

As if SE's idiotic and deplorable customer service was not bad enough they have to pull crap like this.

Same crap happened to me so don't feel too bad. I'm already barking up their tree to get the flag removed because I REFUSE to give up my name and I will be damned if they think I am going to pay another $36 just to "fix" it. Unfortunately since they only respond to support tickets during business hours I am screwed out of playing this weekend.

What? How did they screw up? You're lucky they even opened up Legacy>>>Non-Legacy transfers at all.

yes, but there was a time, when server transfers were free. but unfortunately, legacy could not move to non-legacy. so yes, they have reason to complain.
