Patch 2.16 and gamepad issues

Issue:

(numbered in order of dire need of readjusting)

#1. Cross Hotbar lock + Animation Lock.
-Unable to change hotbars during an animation rendering gamepad a major hindrance.

#2. Default cursor (Gamepad with Micromenu)
-Previously the default cursor would default to free. Now the cursor defaults to your last micro menu choice. This is much more frustrating than the previous setting please readjust this. For example if i clicked "Micromenu>Logs>Crafting Log. The cursor would stay hovering the "log" section so if i decided to stand up and purchase more Buffalo milk from the npc i would have to cancel out of the micro menu an addtional time because the cursor is always showing instead of clicking on the NPC straight away like it previously was.

#3. Cursor Hovering on screen after using skills such as Flaming Arrow.
-The entire purpose of using Gamepad is to not have a mouse hovering on your screen. If i wanted to use mouse and keyboard i would. Why did they change this so that the mouse appears on your screen after using AoE skills? To get rid of this i have to click party chat or the micro menu.. and clicking the micro menu is extremely annoying right now taking #2 into consideration.....

#4. Market Board/Retainer putting items for sale.
-Previously it was set, so after you adjusted your price and quantity the cursor would move to "confirm" but now it goes to "cancel" which if you select it (being swift as most people like to do things quickly) it cancels the sale and you then have to readjust and try to hit confirm. Its so much easier and much more intuitive to set it to default to confirm as it previously was because the item doesnt actually go on sale until you release your retainer. PLEASE return the default to confirm not cancel. This new adjustment is very annoying.

#5. Crafting NQ/HQ
-When crafting now the devs have adjusted it so that you dont need to keep selecting HQ if you used HQ items on your previous synth but if you have both NQ and HQ and run out of HQ it wont default to NQ so youre constantly having to see which item youre out of. This is just replacing a problem with a problem. I prefer just selecting HQ if i want to use HQ and the default always being NQ but clearly people had to complain so now we have a new, and i feel more annoying issue.

#6. Auto run/Camera zoom
-Still an issue because some people still use auto run. Just needs adjusting so if you ever zoom your camera with L1 pressed it never puts you into auto run. This should be a simple fix i would think.

Please fix the Lock Animation before cross bar switching. I accidentally hit wrong abilities because it hasn't switched after I tap r1. Now I have to wait for an animation to be over. It's becomes even more difficult on Extreme Primals and Coil. Please go back to gamepad cross bar switching before 2.16 patch. PLEASE!!!!

Also when market board menu comes up you can't manually move it and half of the left portion of the menu screen of the market board is cut off and I can't move it. Very annoying as well

This is a major issue for me as it prevents use of off GCD cooldown abilities I have set to bar 2. Hallowed ground already has a delay as you can die just after using it but the effect still happens, but this renders it unusable at all for me unless I move it to page 1 and relearn my tanking because at this point its muscle memory. This also prevents me from playing monk entirely because i swap pages a lot during rotations. please fix this or itll be me having to relearn the game with kb and mouse or just giving up entirely.

I don't like the new ground target controls on gamepad. I have to use the left stick and RB in order to move it now, and when using this I can't move my character. So I can no longer use ground target skills and move at the same time.

It was easier to control before, please change it back.

At the least it should be changed so I can move the ground target with the right stick. I'd rather lose camera controls briefly than movement controls.

No, the locked option makes it so you can only move it with the mouse.

You can't press the R1 button to rotate thru the XHB sets enabled while the during a button activation animation. It lasts 1/5 a second or so (~200 ms). At least that's how it appears to me. If this was added intentionally for some reason, it was clearly never play tested. As a result of this the game feels unresponsive.[/QUOTE]

OMGGGG I thought I was going INSANE. I was like, "Wtf is wrong with my controller!?" I kid you not, I switched through three different controllers and finally gave up. This is a HUGE problem, I've been playing like crap, getting all kinds of flack for tanking badly and it's on SE's end!? Ughh, please PLEASE fix this immediately.

beyond the obvious crossbar fiasco, this has driven me crazy in-game.

Updated list with more information.

Playing this game with Gamepad post 2.16 has become a major hassle.

I've considered using KB/Mouse until all of these are fixed. Please Square-Enix take care of these disturbing issues. Thank you.

1.) yes this is a huge issue. and SE stated they are aware. and also this was an intended change. but i think the effects are greater then anticipated. and i am sure they will fix this ASAP. it is a huge game breaker. and can not be left alone for too long. things like this is what makes people quit playing. it's one reason i quit playing DCUO. something similar.

2.) i don't understand the problem. you don't actually describe what the issue is. but the way it is now makes re-browsing previously closed menus much much easier.

3.) i am pretty sure this is just a bug. i am also sure they will find a solution for this.

4.) what is so hard about pressing one more button?

5.) no comment. have only crafted once or twice in the past. so really can't comment on this.

6.) auto-run IS fixed. you don't have to disable it. you don't have to change anything. leave auto-run enabled on your L1 button. and use it like you ever would. the bug is gone. there is no issue here.


EDIT: oh wait i was off by a point.

there's absolutely no reason why we should have to press one more button and there's no reason why they shouldn't have given us an option to disable having a mouse icon after EVERY ground targeting ability. Every time I use shadow flare every thirty seconds, every time i place my pet or use my lb on my smn or any other ground target system, a mouse pointer pops up in the center of my screen. I play a controller so I don't have to use that and having to open the start menu and back out or go to the chat window and back out is not something we should have to do every single time we use a ground attack system. I don't mind waiting until the next maintenance period for this to be fixed but if I have to do this every single time for the games future, then that's an unwarranted annoyance.

I expect this to be something they fix but I see nothing wrong with making sure they know that there are enough people that are annoyed by this.

I don't know how you do it.
I pop the action, it says on top screen "move with R1+Left stick", and I can do it.
I can also move the pointer with my right stick and move my caracter at the same time, totally ignoring what's written on my screen.
And I can even L1+click right stick to get the mouse-like behavior.

Ground targeting should just center on the current target as a starting point. Period. This is where you want the effect placed 99.99% of the time. Why make it so difficult?

just so glad they fixed the XHB. this was a HUGE game breaker. the freaking mouse cursor during Ground Targeting is NOTHING compared to it. no worries though. i am sure they will fix it too.

and i agree with the previous comment. 99% of the time you are going to want your AoE centered on the current target. it really should be the default placement method. it has been mentioned in the past. maybe SE didn't see it. or maybe it wasn't voiced enough.

I do agree that xhb was absurd, the ground targeting is a minor issue i hope they fix but that first one was something i couldn't be happier they included in the emergency hotfix. And i also agree with the center placement, it would be simpler.

Not saying that you can't move the ground target, just that the default place to start should be the current target.

Well, I think the default place to start should be the center of our screen.It's the most convenient spot to move it anywhere.
I agree it sucks to have the pointer starting at random places like "last spot it was even if it was for something else" but I don't like to have it linked to a target.
A target can be behind us, at a place we cannot see.

It's replacing a constant annoyance on each and every single synthesis with a rare annoyance that only occurs once at most, and that only if you run out of a particular quality of material when you're half-way through the stack you're crafting. (And that situation would have had that same issue in either the old version or the new one. No additional inconveniences were added in exchange for the incredible convenience boost we were given.)

In the previous version, if you wanted to use HQ materials, you had to specify that fact each and every time you started a synthesis. If you accidentally missed once (and had both qualities available) you'd likely waste your other materials on a synth that was more likely to fail. Even if you managed not to miss, and got the quality you wanted each time, it took manually selecting it over and over and over again. With the new system, you only have to select once what you want, and that's what it will continue to use until you select something else. If you run out of what you had been using, you re-select the other to use for the remainder of your synths, and it will remember that as well.

Of all the changes in 2.16, this is one of the two that I'm most thankful for. (The other is the configurable Duty List.)

I have an issue where when pressing the LS which is set to Lock/Sheathe Weapon, the camera controls will go from Legacy to Character based. This is super annoying as it screws my targeting, obscures my vision which then hinders my healing.

Semi-on-topic... please consolidate the Waymarks in with the Target Markers... in other words, no need to have Shift+M & Ctrl+M Panes.

And consolidate ready-checking & way-marking to party leaders only.

Go into button configuration, under system. Then just tweak it so it only draws/sheathe, and not change angle.

My fiancée had a issue similar to that, where she was gaming it up on her computer, and it just randomly switched to keyboard/mouse controls(i.e. her action cross bar changed to a normal 2 line action bar). She was just actively playing with her controller. So I'm not really sure how this could happen. I use to use controller but recently went to a MMO gaming pad/mouse combo so idk how to fix that situation, or how its even happening.

It's not that it rotates the camera angle that's the issue, but it changes how my character acts in terms of running in relation to the camera angle. Instead of walking backwards, like I should in legacy settings, my character will turn around and run away like in the character-based settings. I have to unlock and re-lock onto a mob to fix it.

I think you're confusing terms. The setting that let's the character run in any direction instead of strafing IS Legacy controls.

The legacy setting make you character trun and always run the direction you want (except if you lok the mob) so if think you want to change your setting to not legacy.

I think what you get is what it should be. I play with the pad in legacy setting and that's how it works and worked in FFXI too.

In legacy mode it strafes when locked on to a target. However, there have been times when I have been locked on and the control system just seems to switch. If I experience it again I will do my best to take better notes on what exactly is happening but once I unlocked and re-lock it returns to normal operation. It has only happened since 2.16.

This. So much frustration in having to re-list items over and over because Cancel was selected when my muscle memory meant to select Confirm. With a gamepad, there's no need to even go to the Cancel button, because I have a Cancel button on my controller.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this or if someone already gave this suggestion, but here it goes:
As a PS3 player I find healer roles a bit unfriendly using the gamepad, specially on CT. Since we have to hover the target circle around, basicaly, everything on the screen to target someone who needs help, it gets very hard to help the other alliances, it's hard to even ress a dead player...

So, I would like to ask: Is there a way to make targetting possible via alliances window, or something?

A friend of mine said "Use the chat command for that", but I don't think it's practical, safe for the party or possible, since PS3 players can't see the other players names on their screen...
