You're probably using <|Take Care|> wrong (autotranslate)

If your client isn't in English, the auto translate of "Take care" isn't used as a farewell salutation but as a warning.

Correct use of the autotranslation:
Casting spell. Repose. Take care. Please don't attack.

Incorrect use of autotranslation:
Thank you. everyone. See you again! Take care.

Welcome to ambiguity, where the words are made up, and the translations don't matter.

And it's not restricted to the english side either - ever seen someone say <If you would be so kind.> - it could be "thanks", "ok", that'd be nice" along with a bunch of other things depending on context. (I believe the JP side of it is "omedetou").

Auto-translate terms show up in English for us, Japanese for the JP. That's the point.

He's saying the auto-translate term "Take care" when shown in JP refers to a warning, as in "take precautions", not what you suggest.

Still not as good as FFXI's examine translate.

What appeared innocently to English players as "Name examines you." in JP it was basically stalker-ish and rapey.

Edit: BACK ON TOPIC...a better alternative to use would be <Have a safe journey.>

Take Care is Ki wo tsukete (literally, "attach your attention" or something), or be careful. However, in Japan, this is actually an OK thing to tell someone as a farewell (similar to "take care of yourself").
